CHAPTER 229: CHAPTER 230 - A SCENE OF PASSION (2)

Her waist was slender, and his one arm was enough to encircle it. Her body, wrapped in a well-tailored cheongsam, was no longer immature as it had been years ago; instead, it displayed tempting curves and lines.

His fingertips brushed over her cheongsam, touching a frog button. He closed his fingers around it, lightly toying with the button as he tilted his head to place soft kisses on the side of her neck.

Vera Wave was contemplating a song. Bothered by his interruption, she promptly squirmed.

"Stop it...that tickles!"

Kris Cooper helped her straighten up. Vera’s gaze swept over the window in front of the desk, and she suddenly smacked her forehead.

"That’s right!" she exclaimed. "How did I not think of this before? Yes, we should use the street vendors’ cries—the traditional ones from old Nicosa. After all, we’re filming for nostalgia..."

As she spoke, she quickly began to jot down notes with her pen.

"Anything else?"

Kris Cooper reached out to take the pencil from her hand. "Since you’re done writing, you should take a rest."

"No, I haven’t finished memorizing my lines!" Vera Wave picked up the script from the corner of the table and got up from his lap. Without looking back, she waved her hand. "If you’re tired, go to bed. Good night."

The little minx. Was she really going to use him and then toss him aside?

Kris Cooper glanced at the script in her hand. "What’s the use of memorizing lines for acting? Practice makes perfect."

"I wish I could, but there’s no one to rehearse with."

"Am I not a person?"

"You?" Vera Wave turned her face to look at him. "You... you’d be willing to help me rehearse?"

"I don’t want you to ruin my movie!"

Vera immediately walked over and handed him the script. "Well then, thank you, Honey. Let’s start from..."

"Let’s start from here!" Kris Cooper glanced at the script. "The intimate scenes are the hardest to perform, aren’t they?"

Vera Wave wrinkled her brows. "I’m worried I won’t be able to let loose; it’s so embarrassing with everyone watching!"

"That’s why I’m giving you an opportunity now." Kris Cooper flicked the script in his hand, his charming eyes slightly narrowed. "Just treat me as the leading man and give it a try."

"But..." Vera Wave glanced at her watch. "It’s almost ten o’clock. Aren’t you tired?"

"It’s alright. I’ll sleep after we finish."

"Thanks, then!" She cleared her throat, getting into character. She stepped forward to hold Kris Cooper’s arm and spoke her lines, "Sir, the wine is warm and the kang is heated. Are you still planning to leave tonight?"

Kris Cooper recited his line as well, "I have important business tonight. I’ll take care of you after I finish it."

"Oh, no! Come, come, why don’t you sit down first?"

Vera Wave grabbed his hand, pushing him to sit on the bed. She then swung a leg over to straddle his lap, one arm around his neck, while her other hand reached for his shirt buttons, deftly unfastening them one-handed.

"As the saying goes, a spring night is worth a thousand gold. It’s not too late to attend to your business after you’re done with me!"

Gazing at her adorable face, Kris Cooper leaned in to kiss her, but Vera suddenly straightened up, frowning.

"Honey, do you think my performance is a little cliché? That won’t do... Let me think."

She got up from his lap and paced in a circle, brow furrowed. Just as Kris Cooper was about to get up, she had already returned, seating herself on his lap again.

"As the saying goes, a spring night is worth a thousand gold. First, you take care of me..." She reached for his hand, took it, and then asked hesitantly, "Honey, do you think it’s better if I place your hand on my chest, or on my buttons?"
