I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 236 - 237: The Unexpected Person
CHAPTER 236: CHAPTER 237: THE UNEXPECTED PERSON
Waving her plump little hand, Wang Xiaoya said, "Then we won’t keep everyone waiting. Us single folks should hurry on home!"
After bidding farewell, Vera went to the Subway Station and took the subway to the Amusement Park.
He’d actually asked her to an amusement park? Was he planning to celebrate her birthday there?
She stepped into the subway car and found a space to stand. Vera took the necklace that had slipped out from under her clothes, glanced at it, then tucked it back beneath her collar.
When she arrived at her stop, she emerged from the subway and walked towards the Amusement Park. Spotting the brightly lit entrance in the distance, she hurriedly pulled a small mirror from her bag to check her face.
She’d rushed out without any makeup and was just wearing everyday clothes. This really wasn’t appropriate for a date.
She glanced at the time on her wrist. There were still more than forty minutes until the agreed time of seven o’clock, so she quickly set off towards the nearby commercial area.
She found a boutique along the road, looked through several items, and eventually chose a fruit-green dress.
After paying for it, she immediately changed into the dress in the boutique’s Changing Room. She applied some lip balm from her bag and rearranged her ponytail into a small bun.
After examining herself in the mirror, she finally left the clothing store satisfied and purchased a ticket to enter the Amusement Park.
It was already mid-spring, and the spring night was pleasantly warm. Although it was evening, the Amusement Park was still quite crowded, with many couples among them.
Seeing the couples, Vera quickened her steps.
Soon, she arrived in front of the Carousel. She scanned the area from a distance but saw no sign of Kris Cooper. Huh? Why wasn’t he here yet? Could he be stuck in traffic?
She glanced at her watch; it was already six-fifty. Vera pulled her phone from her bag, preparing to make a call.
Just then, a familiar voice called out from nearby.
"Vera!"
Vera turned and saw a man walking towards her with a smile from near the Carousel’s railing. A light grey suit jacket was draped over his arm, and his black shirt was impeccably buttoned. The typically stern expression on his sharp-featured face now held a smile.
"Mr. Leafcastle?" Vera looked at Nathan Leafcastle in surprise as he approached. "You... why are you here too?"
Nathan Leafcastle stopped in front of her. "I’m waiting for you."
Vera was taken aback. "Waiting for me?" Was he saying... Could it be... the bouquet and the card were from him?!
"Didn’t you come because you received my flowers?" Noticing the bewilderment on her face, Nathan Leafcastle’s smile became more subdued. "Or... did you mistake me for someone else?"
"Ah..." Caught out, Vera tried to laugh it off. "No... not at all!" Admitting the truth would be too hurtful to him. Since she was already here, she might as well stay for a bit and then find an excuse to leave. "I... I just didn’t know who it was, so I was a little surprised."
"Come on!" Nathan Leafcastle gently took her arm and led her to the Carousel. "Do you remember? You loved this carousel when you were little. Every time you came, you’d be reluctant to leave."
Vera lifted her face, gazing at the Carousel before her.
"Does it remind you of anything?" Nathan Leafcastle asked, standing beside her.
Vera shook her head.
"Wait a moment!" Nathan Leafcastle grabbed her hand, led her inside the barrier, and in front of a white horse, he said, "Sit down."
"This... doesn’t seem appropriate," Vera hesitated. "I’m grown up now, plus I’m wearing a dress."
As soon as the words left her mouth, Nathan Leafcastle had already wrapped his arm around her waist.
