CHAPTER 254: CHAPTER 255: HOW CELIBATE I AM, YOUR HUSBAND (1)

Kris Cooper’s voice sounded very calm, clearly indifferent to this topic.

Such calmness, however, made her feel even more at ease.

The corners of Vera Wave’s lips lifted. Her mood, after wrestling with her thoughts all night, finally eased. Sweetness, like honey, spread through her heart.

"Then you should go to bed early. Don’t tire yourself out."

"You really want her autograph?"

"Forget it. You two aren’t that close anyway."

She quickly denied it. Asking him to get her an autograph would mean he’d have to talk to *that* woman. She absolutely didn’t want that!

On the other end of the phone, the man seemed to chuckle softly.

"It’s okay. If you want her autographed photo, that’s fine too."

"No!" she burst out. "I don’t want it at all!"

"It’s no problem. Her room is right next to mine. I can go get it for you now if you like."

If he went to Irene Spencer’s room in the middle of the night... That woman obviously has feelings for him. What if...?

At this thought, Vera Wave angrily snapped at him over the phone.

"Kris Cooper, you are not allowed to go! If you do, I... I’ll never speak to you again!"

Over the phone, the man’s laughter grew louder; it was obvious he was very pleased.

The little minx was clearly green with envy. The more jealous she was, the more it proved how much she cared for him. How could he *not* be pleased?

"You were the one who said you wanted an autograph."

"I did not! I only..."

She was only trying to probe his relationship with Irene Spencer. But she’d never tell him *that*.

"Only what?"

"I need to get up." Vera Wave quickly changed the subject. "Anyway, you are not allowed to go ask for an autograph, and definitely not a photograph!"

"Alright."

Kris Cooper laughed, hung up, then stood and pulled off his tie. He casually tossed the tie and his suit jacket onto the sofa.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!

A knock sounded at the door.

Unbuttoning his shirt, he walked to the door and opened it.

Outside stood Irene Spencer. Her long hair was casually tied back, and she wore an elegant, light-beige casual outfit. She was holding a laptop, an apologetic expression on her face.

"Kris, I’m so sorry to disturb you this late. My laptop won’t start, and I have a very urgent email to send. Could you possibly help me take a look?"

"Wait a moment." He turned to his desk, picked up his own laptop, and handed it to her. "Use this. Just return it to me first thing in the morning."

"Okay, thank you so much!" Irene Spencer smiled back. "I’ll bring it right back as soon as I’ve sent the email."

"Just return it tomorrow morning. I’m going to bed."

"Alright. See you in the morning. Good night."

Irene Spencer smiled elegantly, turned, and left with the laptop in her arms.

Kris Cooper closed the door and casually locked it.

"Vera, did you see that? Your husband here is so well-behaved. Other women wouldn’t even dream of setting foot in my room."

For three solid days, Vera Wave was constantly on the go, leaving early and returning late.

Naturally, her hard work paid off. After three relentless days and nights of filming, all the footage for the promotional film was complete.

Vera Wave and Merlin Bradley distributed payment to all the actors and the filming team staff.

"Thank you all for your hard work this time. I hope we’ll have more opportunities to collaborate in the future. I’m treating everyone to a buffet lunch today. How does that sound?"

"Long live Vera!"

Everyone cheered.

Vera Wave raised her right hand. "Alright, everyone, let’s pack up our things first, and then we’ll head out!"
