I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 263 - 264: The waist is noticeably one size smaller (2)
CHAPTER 263: CHAPTER 264: THE WAIST IS NOTICEABLY ONE SIZE SMALLER (2)
Today, Vera Wave’s costume was a goose-yellow cheongsam. She was shorter than Irene Spencer, and her usually unassuming figure was instantly accentuated by the cheongsam, revealing striking curves. Not only did she boast an ample bust and perky rear, but her waist was also clearly a size smaller than Irene Spencer’s. The essence of wearing a cheongsam lay in the waistline. Cinching her slender waist and stepping into high heels, she naturally exuded an aura of delicate grace, like a willow swaying in a gentle breeze.
Upon seeing Vera Wave, a flicker of displeasure crossed Irene Spencer’s eyes. Just moments before, without makeup, Vera Wave had seemed like a plain young girl. But with makeup and a change of clothes, an aristocratic air effortlessly emanated from her. Moreover, Vera Wave’s skin was noticeably more supple and radiant than hers.
It wasn’t that Irene Spencer’s own ’wares’ were bad; the comparison was what stung. Viewed alone, Irene Spencer was undoubtedly attractive. But standing next to Vera Wave, she suddenly seemed somewhat matronly. It was like contrasting a fresh young maiden with a young woman in her prime. Wouldn’t she be utterly overshadowed the moment they were on camera?
Irene Spencer’s mood soured. She glanced sideways at her assistant, Anabel Wilton. Having been with her for a long time, Anabel Wilton instantly understood her meaning and spoke up. "What’s going on with these costumes? The supporting actress’s outfit is more eye-catching than our Irene’s. Isn’t she trying to steal the show?"
Upon hearing this, the other people present quietly pursed their lips. These scenes had all been filmed before. They had to redo all the makeup because the supporting actress was replaced last minute. When Maggie Clarke was the supporting actress, she wore the same costume, and no one accused her of stealing the show back then. Isn’t it just because Vera Wave looks stunning in it? Of course, these were just internal grumblings; no one would be foolish enough to voice such thoughts and offend Irene Spencer.
"Perhaps..." Vera Wave glanced down at her dress. "Should I go change?"
Irene Spencer, however, quickly smiled and said, "Vera, don’t worry about it. Anabel was just talking. Which costume is worn for which scene is already decided; we can’t just change things randomly, can we? It’s getting late, let’s hurry. I have an event this afternoon." This remark, while seemingly defending Vera Wave, subtly hinted at her supposed unprofessionalism.
Director Song immediately called out, "Alright, all departments, get ready!"
The first take began. Irene Spencer, befitting her reputation as a major star and having performed these scenes before, easily slipped into character. Vera Wave, thanks to countless rehearsals and her natural talent, also quickly found her footing. Surprisingly, the first take was a success.
This result was far beyond Irene Spencer’s expectations. She cleared her throat, frowned, and then spoke. "Director, I feel my emotions weren’t quite right in that last take. How about... we do another one? Vera, you don’t mind, do you?"
"No, not at all." Vera Wave quickly waved her hands. "I’m fine with whatever you decide. We’ll shoot it your way."
"Then I’ll have to trouble everyone again." Irene Spencer offered an apologetic smile to the crew and returned to her mark. The departments readied themselves for the retake.
At first, everything went smoothly. Just as the scene was about to conclude, Irene Spencer deliberately took an extra-large step forward. The original blocking had Vera Wave walking to a spot in front of Irene. Because Irene overstepped, Vera Wave, caught completely unawares, accidentally trod on her foot.
"OUCH!" Irene Spencer immediately let out a low cry.
"I’m so sorry!" Vera Wave rushed to support her. "Miss Spencer, are you alright?"
"Get away!" Anabel Wilton, Irene Spencer’s assistant, strode forward and shoved Vera Wave aside. "Miss Spencer has an event this afternoon. If her foot is injured and she can’t attend, can you bear the responsibility for that?"
