CHAPTER 266: CHAPTER 267: FIGHTING THE SCHEMING BITCH (3)

Having been in this industry for a while, Rowan Nichols, though not a professional, had learned quite a bit.

Upon hearing his words, Vera Wave came to understand that there was so much more to filming than she had initially thought.

When it came to her mentality, she was clearly not a fool. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been the top student back in her day.

She was simply raised comfortably and excessively protected by her family. On top of that, people were often wary of her status, which had cultivated her naive demeanor.

Listening to what Rowan said, she mulled over what had happened in the morning and began to sense that something was amiss. No wonder being on set always felt unsettling. As it turned out, Irene Spencer was intentionally blocking my light and always positioning herself at the most flattering angles, just as Rowan had pointed out.

Filming a movie is like taking a picture—lighting is crucial. With poor lighting, the complexion naturally appears inferior. How could that possibly look good on camera?

Reflecting on Irene’s previous displays of concern towards her, Vera merely furrowed her brows. If Irene truly were such a generous person, would she go as far as to marginalize a newcomer like me? Am I overthinking this, or is her kindness simply a charade?

While the staff took their lunch breaks, Vera remained indoors, pacing and turning to find her rhythm and get a feel for the role. When the other actors began filming, she ran over, attentively observing the experienced actors to see how they positioned themselves for the camera.

Ignorance isn’t the problem—it’s a lack of diligence.

Being an intelligent person already, combining theory with practice led to significant gains in just half a day.

At dusk, Irene Spencer returned leisurely.

Seeing her return, the director immediately arranged to film an additional twilight scene.

This time, it was in a garden. It was spring, and the peach blossoms were in full bloom. The western horizon blazed with the sunset, casting a warm glow on everyone’s faces, making them look as lovely as the blossoms.

The two of them took their spots. Upon the director’s call to "Action!", Vera immediately turned her face slightly, presenting her most charming profile to the sunset glow.

Every woman wishes to present her most beautiful side on camera—Vera was no exception.

She stood under the most brilliantly blooming peach tree, turned her face slightly, and smiled at Irene.

"Miss Arista, are you really unaware of Mr. Wu’s background?"

Irene gazed at Vera’s radiant, collagen-rich, and jade-like small face under the sunset glow, feeling a pang of jealousy.

She scoffed inwardly and stepped forward, blocking Vera’s light.

"You jest, madam. My relationship with Mr. Wu is nothing more than an ordinary friendship. What do you mean by ’background’?"

Vera immediately noticed that Irene was trying to hog the camera. Displeasure welled up in her heart. She’s already a superstar; does she really need to compete with a newcomer like me?

Taking a step forward to stand back in the warm sunset glow, Vera gave a faint, cold smirk.

"Miss Arista, don’t forget, what goes around comes around. You can’t hide the truth forever!"

In an unexpected twist, Vera’s step had landed her in the perfect camera position.

Irene was taken aback. Her expression faltered, causing her to deliver her lines half a beat too slow.

"...What do you mean, madam..."

"CUT!" Director Song shouted, his irritation clear as he halted the scene. He frowned. "Irene, please focus! This twilight is fleeting. Make-up artist! Touch up Vera’s makeup!"

Everyone had been waiting for Irene for the better part of the day, hoping to film this twilight scene while the weather was good. Her performance was truly subpar.

After a series of such incidents today, Director Song was no longer inclined to be considerate towards Irene.
