CHAPTER 270: CHAPTER 271 I... SHY... (2)

"What’s this?" Anabel Wilton raised an eyebrow. "Miss Vera, you’re not... willing to forgive me?"

"How could that be? The fault is originally entirely mine." Vera Wave glanced at the glass in front of her, gritted her teeth, and picked it up. "I really can’t drink another after this one."

Having said that, she lifted her hand and emptied the liquor in the glass in one gulp, then wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

Everyone continued eating and drinking. Vera raised her hand and rested it on her stomach.

She always got hungry quickly and hadn’t brought any food. Initially, she was famished. But before she could eat a bite, she’d been made to drink, filling her empty stomach with cold liquor. The discomfort in her stomach was indescribable.

In a blink of an eye, the meat was grilled. Rowan Nichols took the initiative and put a few pieces on her plate. She tried one, chewed a bit, but she felt a bit sick to her stomach, so she had to put down her chopsticks.

After sitting for a little longer, she began to feel the alcohol taking effect and quickly stood up.

"Then... you all keep drinking, I... I’m a little drunk. I’ll excuse myself first."

"Vera, you haven’t eaten anything yet!"

"I’m not really hungry. I got up early this morning, so I’m a bit tired. Sorry, everyone."

Anabel saw that she also seemed a bit drunk and waved her hand at Rowan Nichols. "Rowan, take Vera home."

"No need, I can walk back myself!" Vera picked up her bag. "You guys continue eating, I know the way."

The grilled meat restaurant was not far from the hotel, just a few steps away. Seeing that she didn’t seem to be in too much trouble, they didn’t insist.

Irene Spencer watched her staggering steps, a cold gleam flashing in her eyes.

She had seen it clearly earlier: Vera had been pressing her stomach and had barely eaten anything. That woman must be absolutely miserable by now.

After Vera left, the group continued their meal. Anabel Wilton moved to sit beside Irene Spencer, leaned in, and told her about the phone call she had overheard Vera taking in the restroom.

"Really?" Irene Spencer’s eyebrows raised slightly. "Who called?"

Anabel Wilton gently shook her head, her tone full of disdain. "Must be her sugar daddy!"

Irene Spencer frowned slightly. Logically, if she’s already with Kris Cooper, she shouldn’t be short of money, but this call...

Kris Cooper is supposed to be in Holland for an event. Could she have another man on the side?

At this thought, Irene Spencer couldn’t help but let a smirk play on her lips.

"Perfect!"

「...」

Vera walked out of the grilled meat restaurant and looked up at the night sky. The cool night breeze on her face sobered her up a little.

She checked her phone. It had been almost an hour since Kris Cooper had called. She quickened her pace towards the hotel.

As she rounded the corner, a wave of nausea hit her. She quickly stumbled a few steps to the side of the road, leaned over the gutter, and began to vomit uncontrollably.

When she finally stopped, she was so weak she felt like she was about to collapse.

Trying to stand up, her legs gave out, and she slumped to the ground.

Beside her, a car screeched to a halt. Footsteps hurried close. She lifted her face, looked carefully at the approaching figure, and a smile touched her lips when she recognized him.

"HEE HEE... Honey, long time no see."

Kris Cooper rushed over, his brows furrowing as he saw Vera sitting on the ground, giggling foolishly up at him.

He hurried to her side, scooped her into his arms, and settled her on his lap. Taking out a handkerchief, he gently wiped the stains from the corners of her mouth.

"Who let you drink?"

"Everyone else... was drinking... I... I couldn’t say no..." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "I’m so glad you’re here. Otherwise, I... I don’t think I could have stood up... My legs feel like jelly..."
