CHAPTER 282: CHAPTER 283: WHO’S THE FOOL, REALLY? (1)
Vera Wave was still pondering when Annie already burst into the office, her face full of excitement.
"Quick, quick, quick... Irene is here!"
"What are you talking about!" Merlin Bradley looked at her with exasperation, "I’ve been chatting with Vera for ages, and you just found out she’s here?"
"No, I mean the superstar Irene," Annie’s chubby face was brimming with excitement, "She’s at Ashton!"
Irene Spencer?
Vera immediately inquired, "Where is she?"
"She’s here to shoot some promotional photos today, right now she’s in the photography studio of our Advertising Department." With that said, Annie turned and rushed out the door, "Never mind, I’m going to get an autograph and then plead for a photo."
"So pointless!" Merlin Bradley rolled her eyes at her retreating figure, "What’s so great about chasing female stars, they’re not even male gods."
Meanwhile, Vera had already pulled a mask out of her drawer and put it on.
"Come on, let’s go join the fun."
"Why are you wearing a mask?"
Vera winked at her, "So she doesn’t recognize me!"
"Tch!" Merlin Bradley pouted, "When you become famous, you won’t be able to hide even if you want to."
"We’ll talk about that later." Vera grabbed her arm, "Let’s go."
When the two of them walked out of the office, the hallway was already crowded with Ashton’s employees, and not just Annie, even Ruben Campbell was among them.
Vera pulled Merlin Bradley into the crowd, only to see Irene Spencer sitting across from Kate Palmer, the director of the Advertising Department, seriously signing an autograph for an employee and handing the signed book to them, while still smilingly turning her head to remind everyone.
"Be careful not to get hurt, as long as time permits, I will try my best to fulfill everyone’s requests."
Kate Palmer sat across the desk, frowning with some helplessness, while Irene’s assistant Anabel Wilton stood by her side, helping her collect other items that people wanted signed.
"Director Palmer!" A staff member squeezed in with difficulty, "The photographer is here."
Looking sideways at the swarming crowd outside, Kate immediately stood up.
"Alright, that’s enough for now!"
Kate, usually very strict, silenced everyone as soon as she spoke.
"How about this." Irene Spencer rose from her chair and smiled at everyone, "You can leave your books with my assistant, and during the photo sessions, I will take the time to sign them."
As a superstar, being so down-to-earth, it’s no wonder she was admired even more by everyone.
Immediately, a path was made for her and Kate to pass through, while others placed their books and such on the table and then went away to handle their own work.
On the desk, the books piled high like a small mountain, seeing this, Anabel Wilton felt a headache coming on.
As she tidied up the books on the desk, a slightly displeased expression appeared on her face.
Good deeds by Irene, but ultimately, she’s the one who suffers.
So many books, how could she carry them!
With difficulty, she picked up a big stack of books, only to find her bag and Irene’s cup still on the table.
"Annoying!"
She spat out a word in displeasure.
Just as she was about to put down the books, Vera had already walked over with Merlin Bradley.
"These people, seriously, so many books! Could you really carry them all, Merlin, give a hand here!"
"Oh!"
Merlin Bradley didn’t know what Vera had in mind but immediately went over to help Anabel Wilton with a stack of books, and Vera then voluntarily picked up the bag on the table.
"Is this your bag?"
