CHAPTER 285: CHAPTER 286: WHO’S THE REAL FOOL? (PART 4)
Anabel Wilton followed Irene Spencer into the Changing Room and spoke puzzled.
"Sister Spencer, why did you ask Kate Palmer just now? She’s such a small character, she probably hasn’t even met Kris Cooper, how would she know Vera Wave?"
"What do you know!" Irene Spencer rolled her eyes at her, "Kate Palmer is a smart cookie. If I ask about Vera Wave for no reason, she’ll surely become suspicious. Don’t be fooled by her seemingly polite manner towards me; she’s just Ashton’s lapdog, treating the Cooper Family as masters. You must never bring this up in front of her, got it?"
Anabel Wilton nodded, "Rowan Nichols is a slippery one. When I asked him, he kept dodging and evading, unwilling to tell me the truth."
In order to find out more about Vera Wave, Anabel Wilton tried everything she could. But up until now, all she knew was that Vera worked at Ashton, in which department... she still hadn’t figured it out.
"Oh right!" Anabel’s eyes lit up, "How about... I check the Reception desk records? Since she has such a good relationship with Kris Cooper, she definitely wouldn’t be an ordinary employee; the Reception must have records."
"Sure." Irene Spencer nodded, "You go ahead, I can handle things here on my own."
Anabel quickly grabbed her bag and exited the Photography Studio.
...
...
Inside the elevator.
Vera Wave pulled down the disposable mask from her face and leaned against the elevator wall.
"Vera, what’s going on?" Merlin Bradley asked, puzzled, "Why do I feel like... something’s off about this?"
"It’s not just off." Vera wiped the breath off her nose, "It’s very off."
Initially, she just thought Anabel Wilton was up to some tricks, but now it seemed the situation wasn’t that simple.
How did Irene Spencer know she worked at Ashton, and if she wanted to know what she did, why not ask directly, why go around in circles?
Anabel was her Assistant; without her consent, would she dare to casually publish news about Irene Spencer?
No, that’s not right!
Vera’s eyes narrowed slightly, it wasn’t Anabel, it was her!
"Seems like I’ve been too naive."
"Huh?!" Merlin Bradley looked at her bewildered, "What do you mean by old or naive?"
"Ah... it’s nothing." Vera gave her a side smile, "Merlin, thank you for helping me just now."
"What are you saying? We’re colleagues, of course, I’d help you." Merlin walked out of the elevator with her, "Vera, let me remind you, the waters in the entertainment industry are deep, be careful!"
As she was speaking, Vera’s phone rang, and it was Ruben Campbell calling to inform her that the advertising promo edit was complete.
"I’ll be right back." Vera hung up the phone, "Let’s go, we’ll go check out the edited footage first."
For now, the most important thing was to finish the tasks at hand; other matters could wait till later.
After all, this wasn’t just her issue alone.
As for Irene Spencer, thinking of her previous attitude, Vera could only grit her teeth in anger.
Yesterday’s slap really was too light!
By this time, the two had returned to the office. Seeing her return, Ruben Campbell immediately picked up the laptop and followed her into the office.
Vera sat on the sofa, glanced around, and didn’t see Wang Xiaoya.
"Where’s Xiaoya?!"
"Here she comes!" Wang Xiaoya walked in with a laptop, "Look, it’s the autograph Irene gave me!"
