CHAPTER 68: CHAPTER 68 I’M MAKING MONEY, MAKING MONEY (2)
"No, stop!" Seeing her much-anticipated earnings slipping away, Vera Wave rushed to stand up and snatched the items from Kris Cooper’s hands. "I can do all these. Go take a shower and change your clothes. You still have to go to work, don’t you?"
Speaking of this, she discovered a new way to make money. After clearing the miscellaneous items from the table into a paper bag and swiftly wiping her hands, she hurried after Kris, eager to please, to the restroom where he was by the sink, washing his hands.
"Just go take your shower. I’ll get your shirt and suit."
After she helped him shut the door, she turned around, jauntily shuffling in her oversized slippers into the bedroom.
Picking out his clothes, ten USD. Tying his tie, twenty USD. Plus making his bed and blow-drying his hair... I could definitely earn a hundred USD.
Three hundred USD just from the morning! At this rate, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner tasks, that would be a thousand USD a day.
That’s thirty thousand USD a month! Plus my own salary, and if I find time for some part-time jobs... Earning over a hundred thousand USD wouldn’t be that difficult, would it?
Embracing her beautiful fantasy, Vera placed the selected tie on the shirt, casually tossed the socks to one side, and snapped her fingers.
"Perfect!"
She playfully swayed her hips by the bed, singing as she made it.
"I’m making money, making money!
I’ve got so much I don’t know how to spend it,
I’m buying a Nokia with my left hand and a Motorola with my right,
Switching phone numbers with one carrier after another every day..."
After taking a bath and blow-drying his hair, Kris walked over, wrapped only in a bath towel. Before even entering the room, he saw the young girl twisting her waist and singing while she made the bed...
He couldn’t help but chuckle, so he leaned against the door frame, a smile playing on his lips as he watched her bustling around.
Vera smoothed out the bedsheet, then turned and sprawled starfish-style on the bed.
"So our motto is: first get rich, then have children..."
As she sang the word "children," she spotted Kris leaning against the door frame, positioned right between her two feet, which were clad in her oversized slippers.
He was wrapped in a white bathrobe, his arms folded across his chest, an indolent posture. Beneath his slightly messy short hair, his charming eyes crinkled at the corners, glinting with a captivating mixture of allure and bright energy.
Feeling her cheeks flush, she hurriedly pressed her legs together, clutched the front of her clothes, and scrambled off the bed.
"W-well, you finished showering... I got your clothes ready. You should get changed. I’ll... I’ll go clean the restroom."
Kris remained leaning against the door frame. The doorway of the old residence wasn’t large, and his frame took up more than half of it. Vera carefully squeezed past him. As she headed to the restroom, she didn’t forget to turn her head back.
Looking at Kris, who was standing at the doorway, she said with a smile, "Brother Kris, remember to call me when you’re done with your shirt. I’ll help you with your tie."
She’d spoken with surprising ease.
Right after she finished speaking, she was suddenly stunned. A wave of dizziness washed over her, and her vision blurred.
The scene before her abruptly changed. The sunlight was just as bright, but now a man in a white bathrobe stood before an ornately decorated door. The light, shining from behind him, enveloped his entire figure in a dazzling golden halo.
She blinked, trying to see clearly who the man was.
Then, everything vanished. The narrow living room returned to view, with Kris Cooper standing by the door.
Vera shook her head and massaged her temples.
Right, I really need to buy another box of my medication. It’s been too long since I last took it; I’m starting to have hallucinations again.
