CHAPTER 92: CHAPTER 92: WHERE ARE YOU TOUCHING?! (1)
Everything happened so suddenly; Vera Wave was caught completely off guard and immediately fell into Kris Cooper’s arms.
Stepping on the brake, Kris Cooper raised his hand to gently support her head, pulling her into his embrace. He quietly kissed her hair, then spoke, his voice even, "Where are your hands touching?!"
Vera came to her senses, only then realizing that one hand was clutching his suit jacket while the other was on his trousers—on the inside of his thigh. An ambiguous position, to say the least.
Her face turned red, and she hurriedly sat back in her chair.
Glancing at her flushed and slightly fuming expression, Kris Cooper released the brake and drove out of the parking lot.
Vera leaned back against the car seat, gritting her teeth.
The road wasn’t too busy, so they easily drove to the nearby hospital.
Seeing the familiar hospital, Vera’s face lit up. He’s actually going to *this* hospital? Then perhaps I’ll have a chance to see Grandma first.
Noticing her expression, Kris Cooper parked the car by the roadside. One shouldn’t visit a patient empty-handed, after all, he thought, then said, "Go buy some fruit."
So demanding!
Vera unbuckled her safety belt and extended her hand toward him. "Money!"
With one hand on the steering wheel, he lightly tapped the car door with the other. "Pocket!"
Gritting her teeth, she reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his wallet. "What should I buy?"
"A fruit basket. The best one."
She got out of the car and bought the fruit basket as instructed. By then, Kris Cooper had already parked the car in a nearby spot.
As Vera took the change from the shopkeeper, he came to stand beside her. "All set?"
"Here, your fruit basket," the shopkeeper said, handing over the packed fruit basket. Kris Cooper reached out and took it.
The fruit basket was quite heavy; her slender arms wouldn’t manage. Best she didn’t try.
Vera clutched the change and trotted after him.
After sorting the money and stuffing it back into his wallet, she followed him up the steps of the Residential Building.
"Mr. President, you’re going the wrong way. This is the Residential Building; the outpatient clinic is over there."
It’s not like he can’t read, is it?
"I’m here to visit a patient, not to get a check-up," Kris Cooper stated.
Oh, so that’s it. Does he also have relatives or friends staying in this hospital?
Vera didn’t dare to ask further. She walked over to press the elevator button, then reached out and slipped the wallet back into his pocket. Once they were both inside the elevator, Vera initially intended to help him with the fruit basket, but seeing him place it on the floor, she abandoned the idea.
"Sixth floor!" the man ordered again.
Vera pressed the button for the 6th floor, a surge of secret joy rising within her. Grandma is also on the sixth floor! If I plead with him, maybe this guy will give me a few minutes off to go see her.
As soon as the elevator reached the sixth floor, she immediately moved, in an ingratiating manner, to take the fruit basket.
Unexpectedly, the man was even quicker. Her hand reached out, missed the basket’s handle, and instead grasped his palm. Startled, she hastily withdrew her hand.
"Mr. President, let me carry it."
"No need."
"Um..." She followed him out of the elevator. "Since you’re visiting a patient, it’s probably inconvenient for me to accompany you. So... should I wait in the hallway?"
"No!"
"I... Could I possibly ask for a short break? Ten minutes, just ten minutes would be enough."
"No!"
"Five minutes."
"Not even one minute!"
Watching Kris Cooper walk ahead, Vera really felt like kicking him to the ground. How can he be so unreasonable? He’s worse than a downright villain!
Seeing him push open a door, she gritted her teeth and followed him inside.
"Ms. Wave!" Seeing them, the caregiver, Aunt Lee, immediately broke into a smile. "You arrived so quickly!"
