CHAPTER 93: CHAPTER 93: WHERE ARE THOSE HANDS GOING?! (PART 2)
Huh?
Vera Wave lifted her face and looked past Kris Cooper beside her, only to see Grandma Wave on the bed by the door turning her face toward her.
Grandma?!
She looked at Kris Cooper beside her in puzzlement, then at the ward — there were two beds in the ward, one of which was empty, with no other patients.
He... he’s here to see Grandma?!
"Vera!"
Grandma Wave’s voice sounded.
"Hey!" Vera hurried over, happily holding her aged hand, "How are you?"
"Our Vera... the prettiest!" Grandma ignored her question, merely smiled and spoke, "Been pretty since she was little, now she’s even prettier."
"Grandma." Vera smiled shyly, "How is it? Is the wound still hurting?"
"Vera." Grandma’s face showed a hint of sadness, "I want to go home..."
"Once you get well, we’ll go home!"
"Where’s your dad? Why hasn’t he come?"
Dad?!
Vera was startled.
Dad has already passed away, why is Grandma still asking about him?
"He’s probably busy again, sigh..." Grandma Wave sighed, "Always so busy, he’s probably gone abroad again, right?"
"Grandma, Dad he..."
"Miss Wave!" Sister Li signaled her from across the bed, Vera got up and walked aside, Sister Li came over and spoke softly, "The doctor said she has Alzheimer’s."
"What?!" Vera was shocked, "Can... can she recover?"
"The doctor said it’s not very serious right now, just memory decay, she’s muddled. If not properly treated... it might affect her daily life in the future."
Vera’s smile immediately clouded over with worry, it was hard enough to save the elderly from death’s door, how could they now be facing this illness?
Turning her face, she walked back to Grandma’s side, holding the elderly’s hand in hers, her eyes brimmed with tears.
"Grandma, do you still remember me?"
"Silly girl, you’re Vera, Grandma’s most cherished granddaughter, how could I not remember..." Grandma gave her a sideways glance, "By the way, why aren’t you in class?"
"Grandma, I’ve started my internship now, no need for class."
From the elderly’s cloudy eyes appeared a hint of confusion, "How come you’re interning in high school?"
Vera was about to say something more when the doctor’s voice sounded at the door.
"Has the relative of Bed 49 arrived?"
Vera hurried to get up, "Here."
"Come to the office for a moment."
"Okay." Vera glanced at Kris Cooper, "President, I’ll be right back."
Kris Cooper nodded, Vera followed the doctor out, and he looked at Sister Li, "Please help wash the fruit for the elderly."
Sister Li opened the basket, took out some fruits and went to wash them, while he walked to the bedside, gently holding the elderly’s hand.
"Grandma, do you remember me?"
The elderly raised her face, looked at him earnestly for a while, and shook her head, "Who are you?"
"When you went to America to see Vera, we even had dinner together, I’m Kris Cooper, Kris Cooper, Vera’s friend, don’t you remember me?" Kris Cooper leaned closer to the elderly, "Take a closer look?"
The elderly looked at him a few more times, but still shook her head.
Kris Cooper raised his eyebrows, sighed helplessly.
"Well... six years ago, when Vera returned from America, she never went back, was it because she had a car accident?!"
