CHAPTER 118: CHAPTER 115: PREPARING TO EVOLVE_1

The helicopter steadily landed on the roof of a residential building. Tang Ye instructed Ah Fu to quit tangling with the horde of zombies and ordered it to join him on the roof.

"Where are the goods?"

The moment the helicopter landed, Tang Ye cut straight to the chase. He found the item Chen Chaoyang promised him much more interesting than any other matters.

To be honest, Tang Ye was surprised that Chen Chaoyang made good on his promise. He initially thought the man just wrote checks he couldn’t cash, yet he came through.

"Here, here."

Hearing Tang Ye’s statement, Chen Chaoyang promptly brought forward three blue containers and explained, "Uh... This is all there is from Qinshan Base. It might not be much, but there’s not much I can do. This is everything from our storage, and I brought it all here!",

Tang Ye cast him a glance without responding, directly ripping open the three boxes. Inside were several neatly packed Evolution Crystals.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Rumble!

A series of loud noises echoed from below before a hole broke through the floor, through which Ah Fu crawled out and quietly stood next to Tang Ye.

Seeing Ah Fu’s vast figure didn’t shock Chen Chaoyang, as he was already accustomed. But Li Xiaoyan was a different story. His legs began trembling the instant he laid eyes on it.

"This... What... Young Master Yang, what is this?"

"Shut up!"

Chen Chaoyang snapped in response, curtly silencing him.

"Stay quiet. If you upset Zombie Big Brother, I can’t protect you."

Li Xiaoyan nodded vigorously, not daring to say another word. His eyes were filled with fear as he looked at Ah Fu.

The sight of Ah Fu’s body, four meters tall, would send a shiver down anyone’s spine. It would fuck anyone’s day up if it suddenly threw a punch their way!

"Why is this so annoying?"

After unpacking all the boxes, Tang Ye found the Evolution Crystals wrapped in plastic wrap. This instantly irritated him.

"Ah?" Chen Chaoyang was taken aback. After seeing the crystals wrapped in plastic, he quickly understood that Tang Ye found the packaging troublesome.

But he had no choice; his life was currently in Tang Ye’s hands. He needed to curry some favor. Otherwise, if Tang Ye decided to throw him into the zombie horde in his present mood, he’d be in a sorry state.

"Let me help you unpack it. No rush, boss! Li Xiaoyan! Get your ass over here and help!"

After respectfully addressing Tang Ye, he turned his head and spoke with a completely different tone to Li Xiaoyan.

"Yes, yes, Young Master Yang."

Li Xiaoyan promptly agreed and squatted down with Chen Chaoyang to tear off the plastic wrap, one crystal at a time.

After a while, Chen Chaoyang placed the last unwrapped Evolution Crystal down and respectfully said to Tang Ye, "Boss, it’s done!"

Tang Ye nodded, admiration in his eyes as he looked at Chen Chaoyang. This guy knew how to read moods.

He walked over and shifted the two aside, proceeding to count the Evolution Crystals, among which were six Level 2 crystals.

"That’s it?" Tang Ye asked incredulously, giving Chen Chaoyang a side-eye. He expected Chen Chaoyang to bring at least ten Level 2 Evolution Crystals. The current amount was significantly less than he anticipated, bringing doubts about whether Chen had deceived him.

But since Chen Chaoyang kept his word, Tang Ye decided not to quibble - that would make him seem petty.

He roared!

Tang Ye turned to Ah Fu and signaled for it to come collect its share of the Evolution Crystals. He was the boss, so he took most of them, giving Ah Fu only two Level 2 crystals and a third of the Level 1 crystals.

Just as Ah Fu and he were about to consume the crystals, Tang Ye paused. Although Chen Chaoyang had shown his sincerity, Tang Ye still didn’t trust him entirely.

If both Ah Fu and he passed out while evolving after ingesting the crystals, they would essentially be entrusting their lives to someone else. Even though he was a zombie, it didn’t mean he was bereft of intelligence. He was still deeply mistrustful of his former species!

He told Ah Fu to wait. He made Ah Fu hold Nannan and popped several Evolution Crystals into his mouth, chewing away!

The outer shell of the Evolution Crystals broke, releasing a tasteless liquid that flowed down his throat and into his stomach. Opening his mouth wide, he started stuffing himself with the crystals. This surprised Chen Chaoyang and Li Xiaoyan.

At that moment, Tang Ye looked like a famine-stricken refugee who had stumbled upon a great feast, fervently swallowing the crystals.

Arrugh!

Tang Ye growled twice, waiting for the explosion of energy from the crystals he’d swallowed.

Boom!

About five or six seconds later, a massive heat wave shot towards Tang Ye’s crown, nearly making him faint!

Roar!

Tang Ye roared in response as the heat wave rushed towards his lower abdomen, circulating one cycle through his body!

Tang Ye felt his body slowly heat up, then become warm, then scalding hot like his previous evolutions. He was overjoyed to experience this!

If Level 2 zombies were this powerful, he wondered how formidable Level 3 zombies would be?

Tang Ye was filled with anticipation. Suddenly, he grunted in pain as his cells began to divide and grow, causing him to feel as though every organ in his body was being torn apart by ants.

This unbearable sensation was beyond words. Tang Ye’s body began to swiftly heal itself, his body becoming unsettlingly abnormal. Black, burnt skin sloughed off in large patches, revealing defiantly growing crimson muscles underneath - like resilient weeds sprouting in a sewer.

Eventually, the "weeds" met, forming patches of unhealthy grey-white muscle. Repeated bursts of pain almost rendered Tang Ye unconscious. Yet, he willed to endure it, gritting his teeth to bear with the pain.

However, his will was too weak, and he ended up unconscious after a short while.

"This... Isn’t he dead?"

Seeing Tang Ye fall after ingesting the Evolution Crystals, Chen Chaoyang expressed his doubt. He was curious about Tang Ye’s condition and took a few steps forward, only for Ah Fu to pick him up and slam him back down next to Li Xiaoyan.
