If a zombie appeared in a survivor base, it would have been slaughtered immediately. Not to mention he was holding a baby girl just now and even talking to humans!

Anxiously, Yan Jie stared at Tang Ye, his mind running over how to face what Tang Ye would say to him.

Tang Ye’s eyes swept over Yan Jie in the darkness, and only after a long while did he speak: "What do you want from us?"

"Uh... I... Thanks for helping me get revenge. But... I don’t know where I should go now. So, I can only... for now... follow you guys."

"Help you get revenge? ... Was it that guy just now?"

"Yes, that guy. He killed my brother, so I went to take revenge. If it wasn’t for you, I would have surely failed. But... don’t worry. You helped me get revenge, and I will definitely repay you. I have nowhere else to go now, so I can only beg you to take me in."

Tang Ye’s eyes shone with amusement. He thought this young man was a bit naive. Anyone could make promises, but how many could keep them? Especially now, during the apocalypse, promises and vows were as valuable as farts!

He didn’t want this youngster to follow him, due to his own peculiar identity. If his secret was exposed, he would become a prime target, and all the people in the base would gang up on him. Even though Tang Ye wasn’t afraid—he was a level 3 zombie and knew his strength full well—he still believed he could escape unscathed even if the whole of Yindan base was to attack him. "You would never betray me, right? No matter who I am, or even if I’m not human?"

Upon hearing Tang Ye’s last words, Yan Jie, who had been excited thinking that Tang Ye had agreed, froze. He couldn’t comprehend what Tang Ye meant by that.

"What could ’not being human’ possibly mean?"

Yan Jie hadn’t yet realized the gravity of the situation, but on an impulse, he nodded fiercely in agreement.

From then on, Yan Jie climbed on board Tang Ye’s boat of deception, never to get off again.
