I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 1661 - 1655: This Time, I’ll Come
CHAPTER 1661: CHAPTER 1655: THIS TIME, I’LL COME
The two exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat relieved. Fortunately, they had thought of many possibilities back then; otherwise, they would have wasted their lives if the building collapsed before they reacted!
"We can’t stay here too long, we need to quickly move to another place!"
"You’re still leading the way."
"Okay."
After a brief exchange, Brother Shi took a deep breath and carried Ghost Head on his back again. Led by Wu Zhixiong, the three of them walked into the corridor heading towards the top floor. During the process, Ghost Head said to Brother Shi, "Thank you, I’m a burden to you."
"You’re thanking me? Is this the tone one should use when expressing gratitude?"
Brother Shi seemed to be amused by this, and Ghost Head only responded with laughter. They didn’t speak further and used their fastest pace to reach the rooftop. The first thing Wu Zhixiong did was to check the situation below again; more and more zombies were climbing up the walls, quickly approaching the three of them.
Luckily, the Level 6 zombie that had targeted them had not evolved climbing organs like corpse claws, so it could only circle around the building. Its pale yet bloodthirsty gaze was fixed on the top as Wu Zhixiong poked his head out for a glance and made eye contact with the creature.
"What an annoying bastard! Damn it."
Wu Zhixiong cursed, starting to look for places around where they could escape. Although the zombies below were Level 4 zombies, such a level was a catastrophic disaster for people like them, let alone the fact that there were thousands of them!
With their excellent climbing ability, they would take only one or two minutes to reach the rooftop, which left the three of them daring not to linger.
Yet, the longer they lingered, the more troublesome things became because they didn’t know when the escape would end!
It felt like being chased by a mad killer in a nightmare, except they were in reality, and being caught meant death!
There was no safe place left in Sanctuary City. No matter where they fled, they would eventually be overrun by an endless wave of corpses!
To survive, they needed to leave Sanctuary City and head elsewhere, but how easy was that?
Even if they were determined to leave Sanctuary City, the breached Great West Gate had to be abandoned immediately. Optimistically, maybe only a few major areas to the southeast had not fallen yet, but given the current situation, it was absolutely impossible to outrun the advancing corpse tide!
Moreover, they didn’t have the ability or confidence to believe they could survive until then.
Thinking about these things, Wu Zhixiong felt a bit exhausted, a sense of fatigue permeating his body, as if he were on an absolutely unmanageable task, destined only for death! The smallness made him feel hopeless!
He scanned the area and found that their viable escape routes were almost zero. Across from the building they currently stood on was a residential building existing from before the Apocalypse, about seven to eight stories high. The problem was the distance was too far, even for Level 3 New Humans they were now, let alone for Level 2’s?
If they chose to jump onto that residential building, they would most likely crash onto the street and be devoured by zombies!
As for other spots, the floors were too high, and even getting there would either crash into walls or be too low, crippling them on impact. They couldn’t gamble.
But there was no time for hesitating now, as the zombies got closer and closer. If they hesitated any longer, they wouldn’t have any options once the zombies got up.
Feeling his scalp go numb, Wu Zhixiong grit his teeth, ready to take a risk, similar to before. He chose the building closest to them, looked at the window opposite, and reached for his exoskeleton suit visor. Yes, he planned to charge directly just like that.
"Not again, is it?" Brother Shi’s heart skipped seeing Wu Zhixiong’s actions, feeling resistant because one mistake meant ruin!
"Then tell me what to do?" Wu Zhixiong retorted irritably.
"Fine, I’ll listen to you." Hearing this, Brother Shi could only follow his lead, waving his hand to pick up Ghost Head.
"I’ll carry him this time." Before Brother Shi could pick up Ghost Head, Wu Zhixiong stepped forward and took over the job.
"I..."
"Don’t just stand there, this time you crash, I’ll jump carrying him, just watch."
"This..."
Brother Shi had a tearless expression but was pressed for time. Clenching and unclenching his fist, he finally said, "Fine, this time I’ll do it!"
With Wu Zhixiong carrying Ghost Head, Brother Shi went to the edge of the rooftop, took a deep breath to calm his pounding heart.
"Hurry up!" Wu Zhixiong urged!
"What’s the rush!"
Brother Shi replied rapidly and targeted a window in the opposite building. Taking another deep breath, he retreated to a suitable distance then sprinted!
"Charge!"
He shouted to pump himself up, concentrating all his energy into his legs, leaping as he reached the edge! Wu Zhixiong held his breath, watching Brother Shi soar through the air. Their chances were singular; one mistake from anyone would be fatal, potentially killing any one of them. But before that moment, best none died!
It seemed desperation had unlocked his potential, as Brother Shi successfully leaped across. However, his hands and feet were not as nimble as Wu Zhixiong’s, and in a panic, he couldn’t burst through the window, only managing to clumsily grasp the windowsill!
Seeing he hadn’t fallen, Wu Zhixiong and Ghost Head on the other side both exhaled in relief.
"Quick, climb up!"
"Brother Shi, pull yourself up!"
Ah!
With Wu Zhixiong and Ghost Head’s words echoing in his ears, Brother Shi grunted with a flushed face but managed to use his utmost strength to hoist himself with his hands. Nearing the glass, he fiercely bumped it with his head, finally scrambling inside.
"Phew~"
"Hurry over..." Having made it, Brother Shi felt a full-body ease, his racing heart gradually calming. He turned to call the other two over but before he finished, Wu Zhixiong had already jumped carrying Ghost Head!
"Shit!"
In a bewildered moment, as the sound of shattering glass echoed, the next second Brother Shi was knocked to the ground by Wu Zhixiong carrying Ghost Head. Upon entry, Wu Zhixiong had crashed through, tearing the entire window frame off, showering all shapes of glass fragments everywhere.
