CHAPTER 1779: CHAPTER 1773: THE GREEDY HIPPO

Tang Ye was also startled, but fortunately, he reacted quickly and managed to catch the other person just in time.

"What’s ahead?" he asked in confusion. There was clearly nothing in front, and his senses hadn’t detected anything, yet Lu Xiaojie seemed to have been suddenly pushed forward by an invisible force!

"It’s nothing, but this time you walk in front."

"What do you want to do?"

"You’ll see when we get there, nothing bad will happen." Stabilizing herself, Lu Xiaojie persistently dragged Tang Ye to the front, a mischievous smile on her face. Tang Ye squinted at her, seeing she meant no harm, he didn’t refuse. Maybe there was something amazing ahead she wanted him to experience?

Saying this, Tang Ye took a big step forward. But the moment he reached the exact spot where Lu Xiaojie had acted strangely, his expression changed.

Gravity shifted in an instant. If previously they were walking on the ground, now they were walking horizontally on a wall a thousand meters high. Under the influence of gravity, he started falling uncontrollably towards the "bottom," but Tang Ye, after all, was a Level 9 zombie. If he couldn’t adapt to such changes, it would be a waste of life!

Realizing something was off, he quickly spread his arms wide, plunging them hard into the fleshy walls on either side to prevent himself from falling.

"Got it now?" Lu Xiaojie said with an amused expression behind him, almost unable to suppress her laughter. Tang Ye ignored her and began exerting force with his hands, quickly crawling upwards!

At the same time, in a certain bedroom, a figure’s graffiti rapidly emerged. Tang Ye’s hand soon reached out from it, groping around until it grabbed the tabletop. With a burst of strength, Tang Ye pulled his upper body out from inside!

Thud~ Snap!

After a few strange sounds, Tang Ye looked down. There had been a laptop on the table, but as he emerged, he accidentally knocked it off. It fell to the ground, cracking in half, and the noise awakened the person sleeping in the bed.

The blanket was flipped open, and a man in pajamas groggily opened his eyes. At first, he glanced at Tang Ye without much concern, slowly turning to look at the door. But the next second, realization hit him, and he snapped his head back towards Tang Ye!

"Who the hell are you?" The man’s expression turned to horror. One second, he was lying in bed; the next, he jumped up. Tang Ye didn’t pay him any attention and soon fully emerged from the graffiti figure, then jumped off the table. He looked back, suddenly nodding in realization. So that’s how those strange people appeared.

He just didn’t know how those strange people could pinpoint him so accurately.

"Lu Xiaojie?" he called out to the graffiti figure a few times, unsure if she heard, but soon she emerged too. The first thing she did was exchange glances with the man on the bed, then shook her head with a bit of speechlessness. Appearing in this place wasn’t great, but she couldn’t be bothered to care.

After the zombie and the person came out, they first inspected the bedroom and, finding no giant painting they were looking for, proceeded towards the living room. The man in pajamas on the bed grew anxious as they moved towards his living room without saying a word.

"What are you doing?"

As soon as he spoke, Lu Xiaojie, already opening the door to leave the bedroom, said impatiently, "Just shut up. We’ll leave in a bit."

"But... how did you get in here?"

"Are you an idiot? You don’t know how we got in?"

"But... but... this is..."

"All right, all right, just go back to sleep." Without waiting for the man to say more, Lu Xiaojie closed the bedroom door and quickly caught up with Tang Ye’s pace to the living room, where the first thing she saw was the giant painting on the sofa!

Upon seeing the painting’s content, Tang Ye looked puzzlingly at Lu Xiaojie. She waved it off, indicating they hadn’t found the wrong painting, but its style was a bit indescribable.

If the previous paintings they saw were created by master artists, then the one in front of them was entirely like a child’s random doodling. Fortunately, at least Tang Ye could understand the content, but no matter how he looked at it, it seemed a bit like the game art style he once encountered on some 399 games website. It featured countless short lines surrounding a circle, forming a sun, clouds drawn with wavy lines, and numerous rectangles serving as platforms—the most abundant element in the painting. At the bottom of the painting was a giant open mouth, but it was so abstract that Tang Ye couldn’t tell what animal it was. On a platform a bit above to the right in the painting was a little figure with outstretched arms, dropping small "black dots" from its hands, clearly meant as food for the big mouth below!

Behind the little figure’s cart, there were more small black dots. As for the essential element "door" found in every painting, it was located behind the cart!

"Hey, can you tell what animal that big mouth belongs to?"

"It should be a dinosaur, right?" Lu Xiaojie said uncertainly.

"Never mind, let’s see for ourselves." With that, Tang Ye raised a hand and reached into the small door in the painting. As before, his hand easily slipped into the painting, and with a dizzying sensation, he found himself standing by a riverbank.

Unlike the previous silences, Tang Ye felt this place buzzing with life as soon as he arrived. It was full of sounds made by people!

His gaze immediately spotted several individuals. No! To be precise, they weren’t humans, just human-like in shape. They had heads, hands, feet, and bodies like humans, wore human-like clothes, and had normal facial features, but their heads were green! Moreover, their heads were wide and large, like a big platter!

Tang Ye could confirm that with heads like those, they could easily hold a bucket that could contain ten liters of water on top!

In fact, these "people" were doing just that, using their heads to hold things like "placing a bucket on top," although they weren’t holding buckets. Instead, they carried various items like pieces of rock, metal springs, mechanical parts, or some fruits and meats.

As these "people" passed by Tang Ye and the newly arrived Lu Xiaojie, they all turned their heads towards them, shouting two words.

"Come! Eat!"

"Come! Eat!"

"Come!..."

The sound echoed continuously, with these green-headed beings using the phrase to greet their companions and Tang Ye and the others, resulting in a cacophony!

Their figures formed a long line along the riverbank, the surrounding echoes of their feet stepping on rocks or sandlinger in the air.

Lu Xiaojie, sensing something, turned to look behind her. Tang Ye followed suit, and the next second, a massive figure like a mountain came into view. Tang Ye looked up; it was a gigantic toy hippo!

It sat with its back against a hill, its vast mouth open wide, capable of swallowing two large trucks. The long line of those green-headed creatures ended at its front. Each creature, when it was their turn, would climb onto the hippo and dump what was on their heads into its enormous maw, regardless of whether the items were edible. The hippo would accept everything indiscriminately, swallowing it all whole!

Watching this scene, Tang Ye immediately thought of the word "greed!"
