I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 1847 - 1840: New Talent for the Royal Court
CHAPTER 1847: CHAPTER 1840: NEW TALENT FOR THE ROYAL COURT
With just two short sentences, Tang Ye realized something, looked around, and smiled wryly, but his expression was much more serious than before.
"Water Guanyin zombie horde..." he muttered, quickly thinking of something, bringing his eyes close to the pipe to take a look inside.
"There shouldn’t be any more, right?"
There were no more rats inside the pipe, but just in case, he still detached his hand and placed it at the pipe’s exit. If any more rats appeared, they would be immediately absorbed.
All these rats had been infected into silver-armored zombies by him. If even one slipped by, and a silver-armored zombie rat horde broke out in such a large Human Sanctuary City, the consequences would not be a joke.
While Ah Fu and the team were searching for zombies lurking within the Cloud Gorge Base, Tang Ye wasn’t idle. The thought of a Zombie King lurking somewhere in the Cloud Gorge Base, just like he was, made him uneasy. So, he used the rat horde to sweep through some of the peculiar spots within the base, such as corners or rooms that were occupied yet devoid of human presence.
It was reassuring that these places did not appear to be the target of the Zombie King, suggesting that the Zombie King named "Ryle" was still somewhere outside the Cloud Gorge Base, possibly even outside China.
Even though that Zombie King could block his own perception, the Cloud Gorge Base was still a bit too "small" for a Level 9 Zombie King. If they were both in the same place, even though Tang Ye was in the light while he was in the shadows, once spotted by one of Tang Ye’s ’eyes’, he would be exposed directly!
After all, neither party understood each other. No matter what, the other party shouldn’t be so careless. If a fight broke out, no one could predict who would live or die.
While pondering, another rat crawled in, forcibly absorbed into the severed hand Tang Ye placed in front of the pipe, and at that moment, a team from the zombie hunting squad returned.
Upon sensing them, Tang Ye went to the window to take a look. It was a team led by Bai Huipeng.
When the group returned, they were smiling and chatting, not at all like they’d been through a battle.
"Huh?" Tang Ye voiced his confusion. There were a total of nine people with Bai Huipeng. He didn’t notice it at first until Sai Ao, laughing and chatting, put his arm around another "person," and only then did Tang Ye realize there was an extra "person"!
The one being hugged by Bald Sai Ao was someone he didn’t recognize at all.
He couldn’t help but laugh a little; it seemed the zombie hunting squad had gained a lot, even recruiting a new comrade.
"Bro, let’s relax a bit, no need to be so tense, we’re all family now."
"Yeah, right, being here is like coming home, don’t feel embarrassed."
"Just nod, and we’re brothers from now on. Look, everyone here is tough and talkative, what are you hesitating for?"
"We’re here, let’s go in."
Among the group, a man in a gray jacket seemed out of place with the others. Whether they were human or not, the others were talking one after another, leaving him speechless. Even when he spoke, he would be interrupted the next second, so he just kept nodding in compliance, looking weak and helpless.
Who would have thought, just two hours earlier, he was quietly working as usual, planning to go to the "canteen" for lunch. But midway, several burly men jumped out, pinned him to the ground without a word, and gave him a serious beating!
He still remembered one of his kind called "Duck," who gave him such a hard slap that he still felt like his face was crooked!
As for why they stopped hitting him, he was still confused. At that time, all he wanted was to escape, but eight shameless guys pinned him down tightly, and he vaguely remembered shouting "Please stop hitting me!"...?
This beatdown, of questionable "justice" or "evilness," finally stopped.
Their enthusiasm was unexpectedly high, making him uncomfortable. He was accustomed to his own quiet world and had never seen so many of his kind before!
He realized from their conversations that there were more of his kind in other places, although he didn’t understand why they mingled so well with humans.
Amid countless remarks that could be "teasing" or "serious," he pondered deeply, but just then, the person with their arm around him suddenly turned to face him.
Bald Sai Ao said, "Don’t look so worried, trust me, you’ll be fine, come on, give us a smile." He said, pinching the corners of his mouth to force a smile.
Meanwhile, the person at the front also spoke up. The man remembered them; both his kind around him and the bald one in front called him "Old White."
"Call me bro." Bai Huipeng spoke with a half-smile.
He didn’t know whether to refuse, but eventually compromised, calling out "bro" with a stiff tone despite frown.
Joking and chatting, the group entered the courtyard, after which, Bai Huipeng turned and gave a meaningful look to the others. They quickly got the hint and took a step back, blocking the entrance to prevent the new "brother" from escaping.
After doing all this, Bai Huipeng flashed a quite benevolent smile at the new "brother," and then walked to a gilded entrance at the front of the villa, opened the door, and went inside.
"Boss."
Tang Ye had come down the stairs, having just prepared a cup of minced meat, and was adding chili powder into it.
"What’s his background?" he asked.
"Caught him in a hospital; he was caught stealing corpses." Bai Huipeng answered.
"Stealing corpses?" Tang Ye raised an eyebrow. The zombie Bai Huipeng’s team caught was a Level 8 zombie, and a Level 8 zombie’s appetite was large. Just stealing corpses wouldn’t satiate it, would it?
"Yeah, he was hiding out in some hospital in District 27, handling dead bodies. When we found him, he was pushing a corpse out."
"Is that his only food source?" Tang Ye asked. Bai Huipeng quickly answered, "Not really. We asked, and he’s responsible for multiple hospitals, handling deceased patients from many aid stations, nearly monopolizing all the deadbody handling. Some from the Black Boxing club, Chun Yan Club, execution stations, and even unclaimed accidental death bodies were turned over to him."
"That still isn’t enough." Tang Ye licked his lips, then raised the large cup to take a sip of the minced meat, the mix of chili powder and minced meat giving off a sharp spicy scent.
Bai Huipeng spread his hands, saying, "I have no idea beyond that."
"Does he speak human language?"
"Of course, or we wouldn’t have brought him along."
"Bring him in; if he qualifies, he might be talent."
"Got it!"
