I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s
Chapter 411 - 410
CHAPTER 411: CHAPTER 410
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll be off." Beisitian turned and opened the door, leaving before he could continue.
Wei Zhongxun clenched his fist and slammed the table, feeling very frustrated. He knew well that Mystic Doctors were generally quite arrogant, and he himself sometimes looked down on other doctors. So, he was sure someone like Beisitian would certainly not tolerate being provoked.
Wei Zhongxun rubbed his head messily, wondering how he could have done something so foolish!
Now the trouble was how to get Beisitian to feel positive towards him again and agree to help him?
Wei Zhongxun felt a bit helpless. People like Beisitian, who wouldn’t even reveal her name after rescuing General Zhou, certainly weren’t seeking fame or fortune. Starting out as a Medical Assistant in such a small place, he really had no idea what she wanted!
Sun Wangnian and Wei Zhongxun, both special invited doctors, didn’t have to work night shifts. So, when he accidentally saw the night shift schedule, he pondered for a moment and then shook his head. She had a husband, and going to see her in the middle of the night for a heart-to-heart chat would only lead to trouble.
Nevertheless, Wei Zhongxun still kept an eye on that night shift.
On that night, Beisitian had half a day’s leave during the day and only came in the evening. It was quite convenient since Luo Xudong had gone for a drill the day before and wouldn’t be back until the next day.
Being in the army, even at night, there was no danger.
Two nurses were on night duty with her, making only three people in the entire medical unit. Beisitian first checked all the clinic rooms before heading to the staff lounge, where she planned to spend the night if nothing happened.
Just as she was thinking, a nurse called out at the door, "Doctor Wei!"
Beisitian turned around and saw Wei Zhongxun had arrived.
Wei Zhongxun waved his hand, "I’m just looking around; you continue with your work."
Wei Zhongxun was young and handsome, and the two nurses smiled, watching him walk upstairs.
Beisitian watched him coolly, "What are you here to look at?"
Wei Zhongxun chuckled, "Can you not be hostile towards me? My tone wasn’t good the other day, but don’t mind it. I was just really anxious because I couldn’t find you."
Beisitian didn’t want to say much and turned to head to the lounge.
Feeling awkward, Wei Zhongxun didn’t follow her. It wouldn’t be proper for a man and woman to be alone in a room, so he had to wait outside, hoping for a chance to talk to Beisitian.
Wei Zhongxun dozed off on the office sofa, but around three in the morning, he suddenly heard some commotion outside. Quickly opening the door, he saw the place brightly lit.
Going downstairs, he saw the emergency room lights on and knew there was an emergency patient.
He strode towards the emergency room, smelling blood even before he pushed the door open, where he saw several soldiers inside, with a blood-soaked soldier lying on the bed.
Beisitian, wearing a white coat, was conducting the rescue.
"All of you, get out; you’re obstructing the rescue here." Wei Zhongxun said in a deep voice.
The soldiers looked at each other, unwilling to leave until Beisitian spoke, "He’s a special invited doctor here; you indeed obstruct the rescue."
If they didn’t leave, Beisitian couldn’t make the talisman.
But even with Wei Zhongxun there, it was also troublesome.
Under the persuasion of the two nurses, the soldiers moved outside the emergency room, and Wei Zhongxun told the nurses to leave too.
Wei Zhongxun locked the emergency room door and quickly took out a piece of yellowed cloth from the inside of his clothes, uncertain of its material. Then, he took out a brush and yellow paper.
Beisitian raised her eyebrows seeing this, "Mr. Wei, what do you plan to do?"
Spiritual Talisman, perhaps? Such things are usually never shown in front of others unless it’s your master or disciple, let alone in front of another Mystic Doctor.
"Saving lives is the priority," Wei Zhongxun said.
Beisitian remained quiet. This person rolled down the mountain and was barely conscious when brought in. However, if a Mystic Doctor intervened, treatment shouldn’t be difficult.
Beisitian stood silently aside; since Wei Zhongxun wasn’t talking, she didn’t mind.
Wei Zhongxun’s actions next surprised her greatly.
Wei Zhongxun first laid the yellow cloth on a flat table. Beisitian glanced at it, stepped closer unconsciously, and turned pale upon seeing clearly what was on it.
The symbols and the large circle enclosing them were very similar to the few formulas Zheng Lulu had given her!
Beisitian’s heartbeat accelerated slightly. She had pondered those things for days and roughly understood their purpose, or so she thought. If she could see them firsthand, all her doubts would be instantly resolved.
Wei Zhongxun placed the yellow paper over the symbols and swiftly drew symbols on it with the brush. His technique was smooth and natural, clearly an experienced hand.
However... Beisitian was shocked to discover that once Wei Zhongxun finished drawing, the talisman paper floated above the symbols, and a faint cyan light flashed, barely noticeable without careful attention.
Wei Zhongxun used a match to burn the finished talisman paper into ashes, mixed it into plain water, and handed it to Beisitian, "Could you please feed it to him?"
Beisitian did not decline and massaged the person’s throat to feed the talismanic water. The talismanic water, once ingested, was most effective, especially for stopping bleeding.
"Why use a match?" Beisitian slightly frowned. Why couldn’t the talisman paper self-ignite?
Wei Zhongxun gave a peculiar look, "There’s only a match here; I’d prefer a lighter, but I don’t smoke, so I don’t have one."
No, that wasn’t her point...
Beisitian suddenly realized that Mystic Doctors here seemed very different from her, differing in technique and effects.
This wasn’t Spiritual Pointing; the patterns on the cloth should resemble spirit concentration, and the most baffling part was that the talisman paper wasn’t self-igniting but required manual ignition, making the effect vastly inferior!
Seeing Beisitian lost in thought, Wei Zhongxun felt a bit anxious. He had revealed his trump card techniques in front of her, indicating he had no other intentions, bluntly stating his purpose. Hopefully, Beisitian would dismiss her prior annoyance in light of this.
Beisitian indeed didn’t plan to nitpick over previous matters, as she intended to have a good conversation with Wei Zhongxun.
The blood-soaked soldier quickly stopped bleeding, and Wei Zhongxun, with his full spirit, though not as effective as Beisitian now, found the soldier had no other issues apart from excessive blood loss.
Wei Zhongxun opened the door to let the nurses in to clean up the soldier’s wounds, which weren’t large. Beisitian had done simple treatment earlier, and there shouldn’t be any problems.
