CHAPTER 417: CHAPTER 416

"Who is he?" Zheng Qiwai asked Beisitian with an incredulous expression.

Beisitian pursed her lips in silence, this feeling was like...

Luo Xudong pursed his lips, his face cold enough to chip ice. Beisitian could tell, so how could he not? Although he knew there was likely something going on, he still couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

Luo Xudong pulled Beisitian closer, wrapped his arm around her waist, and looked at Zheng Qiwai without speaking. He didn’t want to explain but his actions spoke volumes.

Zheng Qiwai watched their movements, his face showing a somewhat wooden expression.

Beisitian had a strong urge to facepalm but quickly opened her mouth, "He’s my husband, and by the way, you must have mistaken me for someone else, my name is..."

"Good! Very good!" Zheng Qiwai laughed coldly, with a mocking expression, then turned and left.

Beisitian: "..." At least let me finish my words!

After Zheng Qiwai left, Beisitian expected Luo Xudong would let go of her. With so many people around, it was quite embarrassing to be seen like this.

Unexpectedly, Luo Xudong didn’t let go; instead, he held her tighter. Beisitian couldn’t help but look up at him, and Luo Xudong lowered his eyes, looking right back at her.

"Let go of me, we’re at school," Beisitian said softly.

Luo Xudong’s eyes shone with specks of light that Beisitian could not understand.

He knew Beisitian was right; the man must have mistaken her like General Zhou did. But just thinking about that man’s attitude, as if he really had something with Beisitian in the past, made him deeply uncomfortable. He wanted to hold Beisitian tightly and announce to the world this woman was his!

This notion seemed somewhat unreasonable, so Luo Xudong wouldn’t let Beisitian know!

Luo Xudong released Beisitian, bent slightly and whispered in her ear, "Go back soon." After that, he kissed her cheek and turned to leave.

His mission wasn’t completed yet; if he hadn’t noticed Beisitian having her wrist grabbed, he wouldn’t have angrily appeared.

Doing this was somewhat against the rules, but he couldn’t care less at that moment. Seeing the pain on Beisitian’s face made his blood rush to his head; he couldn’t wait even a moment. If rational thought hadn’t prevailed, he might have beaten Zheng Qiwai right then.

Beisitian watched Luo Xudong’s figure fade into the crowd, a trace of smile at the corner of her mouth, reaching out to rub her wrist, a bit of medicine at home should alleviate it. Initially angry at that man’s powerlessness, but after Luo Xudong avenged her, seeing Zheng Qiwai’s pained expression dispelled her anger.

As Beisitian turned to leave, Tian Zhi sprinted over, "Cousin, are you okay?"

The three of them were summoned by their teacher when they left; they saw the tail end of the incident and sensed something was off, hence the inquiry.

"I’m fine." Beisitian lowered her wrist, covering the bruise with her sleeve.

Tian Zhi seemed skeptical, having seen Zheng Qiwai looking gloomy and forlorn, like someone abandoned.

"Does Cousin know Vice Director Zheng?" Tian Zhi asked.

Beisitian shook her head, "He mistook me for someone else. When are you leaving this afternoon?"

Tian Zhi knew she was changing the subject but didn’t press further, replying, "Two schools are having lunch soon, then we’re getting on the bus. We should arrive at the West Station by evening, and then we’ll go home separately."

"I won’t see you off then. Remember to call me when you arrive in the Capital City." Beisitian said with a smile.

Tian Zhi noted her smile wasn’t forced and nodded, "Cousin, don’t worry. I’ll call when I arrive. When are you visiting the Capital City next?"

"I’m not sure yet. I’ll let you know when I do." Beisitian glanced behind him, "Your teacher’s calling you. Go on."

Tian Zhi looked back briefly, then said a couple of things to Beisitian before leaving.

Beisitian left the school, casually searching for Luo Xudong but couldn’t find him. She decided to head to the residential building.

Today is Sunday, no work, so she’s not in a rush. She went to the community service station to buy some groceries to cook.

When she’s alone, she doesn’t plan to waste too much; just enough to eat is fine.

In the afternoon, Beisitian lay down to sleep for a while, barely dozing off when there was a knock at the door. She opened it to see Uncle Wang from the reception standing there expressionless, "Phone."

Beisitian thanked him, went back in to change her slippers, and headed downstairs. When Uncle Wang said things like this, it usually meant the line was still connected, waiting for her.

Downstairs, Beisitian saw the phone receiver resting to the side. She picked it up and answered, ’Hello,’ and immediately heard a panicked voice from the other side.

"Sister Xiao Bei, Xiao Zhi has been kidnapped, please save him!" It was Li Yong’s voice.

Beisitian was shocked, "Where are you now?"

Li Yong urgently gave the address, as they were planning to leave by bus in the afternoon, the dining location was chosen close to the long-distance bus station to foster friendships between the two schools.

But just after they finished eating and before settling the bill, several people suddenly rushed in and took Tian Zhi away without a word.

Both schools’ leaders were frightened, those people moved too fast; they hadn’t reacted before Tian Zhi was in their grasp.

The leaders didn’t even have a chance to speak before they saw Tian Zhi being dragged into a yellow van. Nowadays taxis use such cars, making it hard to discern who they were.

The leaders of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine hurriedly reported to the police, and Lu Tao and Li Yong were terrified, then realized they needed to notify Tian Zhi’s family besides the police.

The Tian Family, to prevent Tian Zhi from getting arrogant and spoiled, didn’t accompany him here. The exchange matches usually had late-night rebroadcasts, so they planned to watch TV.

Luckily, he had other relatives in Anding City, and Li Yong immediately called Beisitian.

When Beisitian arrived at the restaurant, only Lu Tao and Li Yong were left. The students from Anding City had returned, while those from the Capital City temporarily followed the Anding City Chinese Medicine Institute leaders back to school, as the leaders had to go with the police to file a case.

The current procedures may not be as complex as they will be in the future, but from filing a case to finding someone takes time, enough for the criminals to do many things.

Beisitian listened as Lu Tao and Li Yong recounted the incident, feeling anxious. Even though Tian Zhi was kidnapped in front of witnesses, there was no information on these people, no way to find them, not a single clue!

Tian Zhi was visiting Anding City for the first time, was a student, usually well-behaved, couldn’t possibly have offended anyone in society. How could he experience a kidnapping?
