I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s
Chapter 423 - 422: So Afraid I Couldn’t Breathe
CHAPTER 423: CHAPTER 422: SO AFRAID I COULDN’T BREATHE
The three people were now worse than paper tigers. Tian Zhi kicked the tall, thin, horse-faced man and quickly ran to Beisitian’s side, looking at her with a gaze full of resentment.
He also thought that these three people had come for them because of Beisitian’s actions.
The three men lay crookedly on the ground. Wei Zhongxun stood by their side, looking at them with a deep gaze, and said without turning his head, "You should leave first."
Beisitian knew what he was going to do. Back then, he had no choice but to reveal that he was from the Wei Family to buy time, which made the three not act rashly. Now that the tables have turned, he naturally couldn’t let them get away with it.
Beisitian took Tian Zhi outside. Of course, she wouldn’t stop him. These Mystic Doctors were infamous, and today they might use Tian Zhi for medicine, but tomorrow they might use someone else. Who knows how many people they’ve used before?
Beisitian and Tian Zhi waited outside for a moment before Wei Zhongxun came out. Tian Zhi had some suspicions in his heart, but seeing Wei Zhongxun’s perfectly normal expression, he couldn’t help but feel puzzled. Hadn’t he killed those three?
Beisitian and the two others went down the stairs, looked out the window of the warehouse, and saw that it was already dark outside.
They started running towards the warehouse door, but before they reached it, the door opened, and two men walked in from outside, chatting and laughing. Seeing the three in the warehouse, they froze, then realized that these three had escaped, and quickly shouted.
Beisitian cursed silently as five or six people rushed in from outside. Besides some boxes, there were no other routes, trapping them inside.
She only had a little of her medicinal powder left, which was corrosive and insufficient for dealing with five or six people. Even if Tian Zhi and Wei Zhongxun could each handle one, they couldn’t possibly win.
"How did these three get out, where’s the client?" one of them frowned and said.
The client they mentioned was undoubtedly those three Mystic Doctors.
These six people glanced behind the boxes. Since the boxes were quite high, it was impossible to see. They thought the three might already be unconscious; otherwise, how could the trio have escaped?
They weren’t concerned about Beisitian and the others, but rather if they could still get paid, as those three were rather generous.
"Tie them up first," shouted one of the men. With these three having escaped, the rest of the money was as good as gone.
The others immediately surrounded them.
To them, Beisitian and the others were a woman, a weakling, and a pretty boy, nothing to fear; in fact, there was nothing to fear.
Beisitian frowned. With so many people attacking together, victory was impossible. If they discovered the three were already dead, who knew what they might plan?
As she thought this, there was sudden commotion outside, making the six tense and glance at the door.
Just then, the high warehouse window shattered, and a figure leaped in, landing on a stack of boxes, then disappeared.
The figure moved so fast that they only heard a sound and saw a shadow, unable to make out who it was.
However, the six knew someone significant had entered, and four immediately drew their guns, aiming at the stack of boxes.
Beisitian and the others tensed upon seeing the guns. These guys had firearms—no wonder the Mystic Doctors hired them!
Seeing the dark gun barrels, the three instinctively crouched down, which was the most correct action at the time.
The four with guns could hardly care about them, wary of the one who burst through the window yet remained unseen!
"Who are you? Come out!" a big beard shouted.
Behind the boxes was silence.
The big beard shouted again, "Those boxes are just cardboard; if you don’t come out, we’ll start shooting!"
His words were just bravado, not only because pistols couldn’t really spray bullets, but also because they didn’t want to waste ammunition easily. Bullets cost money—a lot of it—and wasting them meant no eating, drinking, or having fun!
Bullets had to be abundant, and they also needed to keep enough for fun; how could they waste them here?
After several shouts with no response, the big beard signaled to the others eye-to-eye to go check it out.
As two men with guns crept towards the cardboard boxes, they suddenly turned behind them but found no one there!
"Boss, no one here!" one shouted.
The big beard tensed. Someone had definitely entered; why couldn’t they see anyone?
"Come out! Don’t be a coward!" the big beard shouted into the warehouse.
Despite shouting for a long time, no one responded. The four kept their guns drawn, maintaining high alert!
The big beard, realizing the person remained hidden due to their four guns threatening him, glanced around, saw the three, and walked over, lifting his gun to aim at the woman’s temple.
"I know you’re here to rescue, come out, or I’ll kill her!" the big beard shouted with a sneer.
The warehouse remained silent. Just as the big beard grew impatient, a hint of fear creeping into his heart, a clear, cold voice rang out.
"Close your eyes."
The voice, though calm, carried a gentle undertone.
Beisitian felt a surge of joy at the sound—it was Luo Xudong!
She obediently closed her eyes, and the other two also did so instinctively.
As soon as she closed her eyes, she heard four consecutive gunshots. The shots seemed to ring out simultaneously, but if listened to carefully, there was a sequence, almost like four firing in unison.
It was Beisitian’s first time hearing gunfire, her heart pounding rapidly. She felt herself lifted off the ground into a warm embrace, inhaled a familiar scent, and her heart calmed instantly. Just as she was about to open her eyes, a deep voice came to her ears, "Don’t open them."
Beisitian nestled against Luo Xudong’s broad chest without opening her eyes.
The four on the ground had their eyes wide open, each with a red dot on their foreheads, blood gushing out. Tian Zhi was paralyzed with fear, knees trembling, barely standing with Wei Zhongxun’s support.
The two remaining had their hands raised high, legs shaking uncontrollably. That man was terrifying, his face cold, indifferent, and his eyes devoid of warmth, looking at them as if they were already dead. Moreover, his shooting skill! Four shots with less than a half-second gap, each hitting the forehead—a bullet for a life!
Luo Xudong carried Beisitian in his arms, walking briskly outside, his face serious and stern. Upon discovering Beisitian was kidnapped, his heart nearly leapt out from fear so overwhelming it left him breathless. Even now, the lingering terror made his heart uneasy and his arms reflexively tightened around Beisitian.
