I Became the Alchemy Master by Picking Up Trash
Chapter 36 - 35: Under Attack (Part 2)
CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 35: UNDER ATTACK (PART 2)
In less than ten minutes, the students’ attack rhythm slowed down, and the wolf-headed bats’ arrogance rose again.
Now they were no longer panicked as at the start, beginning to launch organized and planned counterattacks.
"Bang——""Bang bang!"
The wolf-headed bats used their racial talent, launching ultrasound attacks. The sound wave cannonballs were invisible and intangible, causing a fist-deep pit on the ground, impossible to defend against. Many classmates who were hit immediately had their skin burst and blood flowed profusely.
The bloody smell further stimulated the ferocity of the wolf-headed bats, crazily swarming toward the injured and bleeding people, eager to taste flesh and blood.
Fortunately, the students were very united, forming a circle to protect the injured inside, fiercely resisting, just not allowing the wolf-headed bats to get close.
Seeing the wolf-headed bat group becoming increasingly brave in battle and showing signs of encircling and flanking, Li Xing made a decisive decision, shouting:
"Everyone——retreat to the rear!"
Students now trusted Li Xing unconditionally, following orders without hesitation. Once called to retreat, they picked up the injured classmates and ran away swiftly.
Just as they turned around, they felt a terrifying scorching sensation at their backs. A wall of fire tens of meters high blocked all wolf-headed bats behind.
The defensive construction was about to be completed. If they allowed the wolf-headed bats to flank the rear and interrupt the progress, they would face exhaustion and death by the bats.
Li Xing ordered Little Fatty to transform into a firewall, blocking the wolf-headed bats.
The wolf-headed bats flapped their wings, issuing shrill unwilling cries against the firewall. However, Little Fatty was a rootless fire, and no matter how they attacked with sonic cannons, the firewall showed no sign of weakness.
A few cunning wolf-headed bats tried to fly to the sides, bypassing the firewall to grab the humans who emitted the delicious aroma.
But as they flew, the boundary of the firewall extended, even curling back to engulf one or two that failed to escape in time.
The wolf-headed bats gave up, gathering together with their blood-red eyes flickering, waiting for Li Xing’s Primordial Fire to extinguish.
Waves of heat wafted from the front, and Tang Dou glanced up in spare time, almost scared to death by the wall of fire.
Was Li Xing crazy? Didn’t she know that consuming her Primordial Spirit like this would damage the foundation, leading to a downgrade?
After the shock, an indescribable mix of anger and heartache surged in his chest, causing his eyes to sting as he shouted:
"Everyone, damn it, give it all you’ve got! Does building a shelter take this long? Don’t you feel ashamed?"
Not just Tang Dou, almost everyone noticed the wall of fire, realizing that Li Xing was burning her Primordial Spirit to protect them.
"If you don’t want Li Xing to die, if you don’t want to feel guilty for a lifetime, speed up!"
Everyone’s eyes turned red, even the damaged gold and fire elements from the front lines joined the construction team, digging with hands and fingers and mixing mud, speeding up the progress bit by bit.
Everyone was pushing themselves to the limit!
The once-slowing shelter began to grow taller again, soon ready to be capped.
"Li Xing!" Standing at the shelter entrance, Tang Dou shouted to Li Xing: "Listen, I’ll count to three, then you run back!"
"One!"
The shelter’s dome was closing up bit by bit.
"Two!" Just half a meter left!
"Three, run!"
At the instant the shelter was capped, Tang Dou shouted three, and Li Xing retrieved Little Fatty, turning and running to the rear, pursued by a large group of smoky, enraged wolf-headed bats.
"Bang——!" Li Xing pushed off with her right foot, shooting forward to the left, narrowly dodging a sonic cannon. There was now a washbasin-sized pit where she had just stood.
"Bang——!" "Bang bang——!"
Sound wave cannonballs rained down like droplets, so densely packed they left almost no gaps.
The level five Star Beasts weren’t particularly difficult for Li Xing individually, but the overwhelming numbers made the gang fight hard to handle.
Many sonic cannons were truly unavoidable for Li Xing, forcing her to endure them with her back. If her body weren’t forged extraordinarily tough by Chaos Qi, she might have already suffered internal injuries, coughing up blood.
"Fast, fast, fast!" Tang Dou’s voice was right nearby.
Swish——
Li Xing finally managed to slip into the shelter just ahead of the wolf-headed bats, and Tang Dou closed the door in time, blocking the bats outside.
"Ahhh, I’m dead, Sister Xing, you just slid right into my heart!"
"Sister Xing, sob, sob, sob, you finally came in, I was so worried!"
"Sister Xing, from now on, you are my blood sister. I’ll serve you tea, massage your shoulders and legs for a lifetime, boo-hoo-hoo..."
"Goddess, you are forever a deity!"
Everyone gathered around, looking at Li Xing with eager eyes.
Their survival was entirely thanks to Li Xing’s advance warning, her battle arrangements, her absorbing most of the attacks, charging and covering the rear, nearly sacrificing herself.
Tang Dou latched the door, squeezed in front of Li Xing with a gloomy face, his chest full of words, yet he only managed to squeeze out one sentence:
"Li Xing, do you have crap for brains?"
Li Xing:...(⊙_⊙)?
Everyone glared at Tang Dou, this guy was too arrogant, daring to insult their wise and brilliant Sister Xing. He must have had crap for brains! If not for knowing they couldn’t outfight him, they’d definitely gang up on him!
Li Xing had charged in so fast she practically slid across the ground, still in a semi-reclining posture against the earth wall, looking up at Tang Dou with a bewildered and innocent gaze. Somehow, Tang Dou blushed.
Tang Dou was the strongest Earth Elemental Spirit among them, responsible for constructing most of the shelter. Although he’d absorbed Energy Stones, he was now utterly exhausted from over-exerting his Primordial Spirit.
Thinking of Li Xing facing the wolf-headed bat group head-on and the vast wall of fire, Tang Dou’s thick eyebrows furrowed, then relaxed, only to furrow again.
"Don’t you know that forcefully manipulating Elemental Power, excessively consuming the Primordial Spirit, will cause your level to drop?"
"Ah? Oh. Is that so? I didn’t know."
Tang Dou:...
He lost ten years to such a clueless person; it was really unsatisfactory.
Tang Dou misunderstood; Li Xing didn’t even have a Fire Elemental Spirit. All her fire attacks stemmed from the Three Thousand Lotus.
Oh, right, after ten years of relentless struggle, Little Fatty now had a grand name, Three Thousand Lotus, given by Big Mouth, who also got a nicer name, Hui Hui.
Although Li Xing was more used to calling them by their nicknames, those two little ones had gotten clever. In certain scenarios, if not addressed by their grand names, they wouldn’t cooperate!
Despite looking disheveled, covered in dirt, and her clothes in tatters, Li Xing felt no discomfort except for a slight itch where the sound wave cannon hit her back.
Tang Dou wasn’t letting up: "Always playing the hero! If your Primordial Spirit gets downgraded, even the top military schools won’t want you. Take it a step further; even if you get into a top military school, without room to improve, your future will be affected, and you’ll cry over it!"
Everyone now realized the seriousness of the situation. Li Xing’s earlier actions seemed like desperate gambles. If really as Tang Dou said, and it damaged her foundation, what would happen as school selection approached? They all shared responsibility.
"Here, absorb it quickly to prevent hidden dangers, or else you’ll hold us accountable!"
A medium-grade Energy Stone was thrown to Li Xing by Tang Dou, and a series of shocked and envious gasps echoed around.
Li Xing chuckled, not refusing it.
Tang Dou, known for making good words sound harsh, was still internally the warm-hearted little fatty buying gifts for his Sixth Aunt.
