CHAPTER 330: CHAPTER 333: THEY ALL HAVE A COUNT

Xu Jingjing spoke of Wei Jiaqiang with a smile on her face, and Xu Xiuxiu, sitting opposite her, saw her expressions and thoughts clearly and only spoke slowly after a long while, "Si Ya, you actually know what’s in your heart; you just don’t dare to take that step. Be brave and try! Lay out your feelings and thoughts to him—if he’s interested, you won’t have to worry anymore about whether he’ll remember you; if he minds, then let’s simply give up. There’s no shortage of men in this world, and it’s not finding one that’s hard, it’s finding one who matches your heart, right!" Xu Xiuxiu was feeding the boy and girl twins rice porridge, seemingly speaking casually, but she was actually encouraging Xu Jingjing.

Xu Jingjing silently watched Xu Xiuxiu: "I don’t dare!" Xu Jingjing readily admitted she was timid because she was moved, because she cared, and that’s why she was timid.

"You dare," Xu Xiuxiu declared confidently.

Xu Jingjing’s personality was the type to accumulate and then explode. With her temper, if she were to marry, she would not hide her past forever, although hiding it was actually a good way to maintain a marriage, but Xu Jingjing couldn’t do that. Therefore, she encouraged Xu Jingjing to lay things out when the two of them interacted—even though it was cruel and painful, it was also the fastest way to heal wounds.

"Si Ya, be brave, as if you’ve never been hurt." Xu Xiuxiu stuffed the twins’ mouths so full that they puffed up and then turned around: "The world has too much dissatisfaction, but I believe there’s always someone whose existence will make you happy."

"I’ll think about it." Xu Jingjing hesitated with a frown.

"Alright." Xu Xiuxiu didn’t say more because if a word of encouragement was useful, one was enough; if not, even talking her mouth off wouldn’t make Xu Jingjing brave. She was just someone aiding the momentum; the real step had to be taken by Xu Jingjing herself.

Although the topics discussed at this dinner were somewhat discordant, the food Xu Xiuxiu cooked was cleaned off completely; Song Chengguang was the biggest cheerleader, burying his head and eating heartily until his little stomach was round. "Mommy, Cheng Guang will rest a bit before eating more." Song Chengguang was indeed too full and thus walked back and forth in the living room with his little stomach sticking out, his eyes still fixed on the sweet and sour ribs, thinking about eating a few more once he had room.

"Come here, let Mom see if you’re full." Kids have small stomachs, so Xu Xiuxiu guessed his thoughts, but she couldn’t condone such wilfulness. It was enough to have a good dinner; overeating is harmful.

"I’m not full yet!" Song Chengguang thought he had hidden his little scheme very well.

"Come here now." Xu Xiuxiu frowned and glared.

Song Chengguang immediately walked over to Xu Xiuxiu with his cheeks puffed and looking incredibly aggrieved. Xu Xiuxiu reached out and checked his stomach, which was so round it seemed he would definitely continue stuffing his mouth if he could fit more.

"No more eating." Xu Xiuxiu glared at him, wondering where he had learned these tricks—to be full and still know to take a break to eat more.

"Mommy, Cheng Guang is still not full!" Song Chengguang voiced his discontent, defending his rights.

"Pfft!" Xu Jingjing naturally noticed Song Chengguang’s intentions too, and seeing that serious face saying he wasn’t full, his little belly sticking out, she couldn’t help bursting into laughter. It was simply too funny and even made her mood lift involuntarily.

"Hey sister! Is this the son you had with my brother-in-law? Who does he get his clever, gluttonous spirit from?" Xu Jingjing laughed as she talked about Song Chengguang, her expression of hysterical laughter that seemed almost banging on the table left Xu Xiuxiu utterly helpless.

"Look, even your aunt is making fun of you," Xu Xiuxiu said to Song Chengguang, annoyed.

"Auntie, why are you making fun of Chengguang? Chengguang is Mom and Dad’s son, he must take after Mom and Dad. Chengguang definitely wasn’t picked up from a trash can." However, Song Chengguang looked at Xu Jingjing with a serious face and refuted her words, "But Chengguang might have sprung out of a stone, just like Sun Wukong." The child who adored Sun Wukong admired the story of Sun Wukong emerging from a stone immensely.

Three black lines instantly slid down Xu Xiuxiu’s forehead. Mischievous child, why are you saying unnecessary things again? And now about popping out from a stone.

"Yes, yes, Chengguang, you did pop out from a stone just like Monkey King—boom—" Xu Jingjing laughed, holding her stomach, seemingly unable to stop laughing for a while.

"Uh-huh," said Song Chengguang, his expression seriously agreeing.

Xu Xiuxiu stared speechlessly at the aunt and nephew’s conversation, her face darkening beyond belief. These two troublemakers—she wondered if she could give them a good scolding: "Xu Jingjing, hurry up and eat. After you finish, take Chengguang downstairs for a walk to help digest the food." Song Chengguang had eaten so much, if they didn’t go for a walk, he would be complaining of a stomach ache later tonight.

"Alright! Okay!" Xu Jingjing finally stopped laughing, hurriedly finished eating, and then took Song Chengguang’s little hand; the aunt and nephew went downstairs for a harmonious post-dinner walk.

When Xu Xiuxiu had cleaned up the dining table and the kitchen, she planned to coax the boy and girl twins to sleep early since young children need lots of sleep. The twins hadn’t really napped that afternoon, so she wanted them to head to bed early tonight, but just as she had gotten the twins to sleep, noise came from the downstairs living room.

"Are you back?" Xu Xiuxiu walked downstairs to the entrance and saw Xu Jingjing, asking her.

"Mhm." Xu Jingjing nodded. "Sister, I have something to tell you. Brace yourself, okay!" There was a look of guilt all over her face.

"What happened? Where’s Chengguang?" Xu Xiuxiu asked, raising her eyebrows. She hoped that nothing had happened to Song Chengguang, or that he hadn’t caused any mischief!

It wasn’t that Xu Xiuxiu was overthinking it, but knowing what her son was like, the older he got, the more trouble he managed to stir up to bother her, and she was used to this—who could blame him when he was at an age that was downright troublesome!

"Uh, Chengguang, your mom is calling you! Come on in." Seeing Xu Xiuxiu asking, Xu Jingjing awkwardly smiled and waved to signal Song Chengguang, who was hiding outside the door.

Song Chengguang immediately walked in with his little short legs, but in his hands, he was holding a small yellow puppy. The puppy looked very young and was softly whimpering, probably very hungry, so at that moment, it was lying quietly in Song Chengguang’s arms, looking weak and listless.

The moment Xu Xiuxiu saw the small yellow puppy in Song Chengguang’s hands, her forehead began to twitch uncontrollably. Without Xu Jingjing and Song Chengguang saying anything, she had already guessed their intentions; they must have thought the small puppy was pitiful and wanted to take it home to care for it. What a joke—absolutely not.
