CHAPTER 332: CHAPTER 332: TAKING LITTLE HUANG TO SCHOOL

Song Chengguang really liked Little Huang; his affection for the dog was second only to that of the boy and girl twins in his heart. This realization amusingly yet somewhat bitterly made Xu Xiuxiu question her own place in Yuanhuan’s heart—it might even be lower than Little Huang’s—a faint sadness crept into her heart.

"Mom, I want to take Little Huang with me to daycare." After the weekend ended, it was time for young Song Chengguang to go back to daycare. Having spent two days together, his bond with Little Huang had grown even deeper. Early in the morning, after eating breakfast and putting on his little backpack, he was ready to head out the door with Little Huang.

"No, Little Huang has to stay at home," Xu Xiuxiu refused Song Chengguang’s request with glaring eyes.

"Mom." Song Chengguang began to act spoiled and pitiful.

"No," Xu Xiuxiu stood firm, unwilling to indulge Song Chengguang’s little whims.

"..." Song Chengguang silently held on to Little Huang, his expression resolute. He maintained his silent protest until Xu Xiuxiu would give in out of desperation, otherwise, he threatened not to go to daycare in a veiled threat, which particularly infuriated Xu Xiuxiu. She was supposed to check on the staff training situation in Soup City after dropping Chengguang off at daycare, and now she felt overwhelmed.

"Do you believe I would kick Little Huang out of the house?" Allowing Little Huang to stay had already pushed Xu Xiuxiu to her limit. As a mother, she felt she had indulged Song Chengguang enough; she ignored whether Little Huang carried any germs and indulged him, putting the twins’ health at risk to keep him happy.

Yet Xu Xiuxiu had never imagined that nowadays, Song Chengguang would occasionally start to challenge her temper. His disobedient and willful demeanor often left her helpless. But Xu Xiuxiu couldn’t always yield to his whims every time he acted out, else what would become of him over time?

Yet, Song Chengguang had been such a well-behaved, obedient child before. How had he suddenly become so rebellious!

"Then I want to be with Little Huang, too," Song Chengguang stubbornly retorted to Xu Xiuxiu in a fearless manner.

"Fine!" Xu Xiuxiu promptly agreed, "Then I’ll just kick both you and Little Huang out to be homeless, with no clothes, no food, unable to see your brother and sister, and without your mom and dad. Let’s see if you cry!" Xu Xiuxiu spoke to scare him, then ignored Song Chengguang as she went to the entrance to open the door: "Go on! Leave with your Little Huang. Mom won’t care about you anymore. You can sleep on the streets holding Little Huang."

Xu Xiuxiu was determined to curb Song Chengguang’s stubbornness—it was his fault for becoming increasingly lawless.

"..." Xu Xiuxiu’s series of actions and decisions left Song Chengguang instantly dumbfounded. Clutching Little Huang, he tilted his head back to look at Xu Xiuxiu for a while, then puffed out his cheeks and turned his head to look at the open door, his expression suddenly one of a little pitiful figure abandoned by his own mother.

"Jingjing," Xu Jingjing, who was getting ready to leave the house with her, had watched the whole drama between her sister and her nephew unfold. Seeing how genuinely furious her third sister was and her nephew on the verge of an emotional breakdown, she immediately stepped in to mediate, "Jingjing, why are you starting the day like this? You’ve scared Cheng Guang. Can’t you discuss this matter calmly? Cheng Guang, be good! Let Little Huang stay at home, and your auntie will take you to school, okay?" Xu Jingjing said this while fervently giving Song Chengguang meaningful looks, attempting to put Little Huang down from his arms.

Song Chengguang and Xu Jingjing had been conspiring for a long time, maintaining exceptional unspoken understanding between them. Song Chengguang also realized his mother’s temper and reluctantly let go of Little Huang, but his glance at Xu Xiuxiu was filled with fear and dread.

Seeing this, Xu Xiuxiu felt even more depressed. However, since Xu Jingjing had tried to smooth things over, as the adult, she naturally didn’t fuss any further. Otherwise, with Song Chengguang’s temper, if he felt cornered, he might have ended up running away from home with Little Huang. Such a drama was nothing new for Song Chengguang; even as a toddler, he had attempted similar antics. He was now full of energy, more so than his mother, and if he were to disappear, Xu Xiuxiu would undoubtedly be enraged to the point of spitting blood. With his exceptional intelligence and bravery for his age, she dared not take any rash actions.

Then, led by Xu Jingjing, Song Chengguang walked out of the house only to burst into tears at the doorstep.

"Wah, Auntie, Mommy doesn’t love Cheng Guang anymore. I want to call Daddy; I want to go find Daddy." Song Chengguang always believed he was firmly supported by his dad. Whenever he was cross with Xu Xiuxiu, he instinctively sought his father, though he didn’t know where Imperial City was—surely he could take a ride there!

Yet, saying this frightened Xu Jingjing—going to find his dad? You’re talking about a city I’ve never visited, and here you are, a little kid daring to say such things. But Xu Jingjing couldn’t just dismiss what Song Chengguang said. Knowing how clever he was, if he attempted to go out on his own and got kidnapped, what would she do?

"Silly Cheng Guang, how could your mom not love you? She loves you the most. Stop crying now, your eyes are all red, and other kids will laugh at you. Come on, your auntie will take you to daycare now, and in the evening, I’ll pick you up, and we can call your dad, okay?" Xu Jingjing proposed a plan to Song Chengguang.

"Okay, then we’ll call after school," Song Chengguang was easily persuaded by Xu Jingjing, "But Auntie, Mommy doesn’t love Cheng Guang the most; she wants to send Cheng Guang to sleep on the streets!" Song Chengguang pursed his lips, his voice filled with profound sadness.

Sleep on the streets! Wow!

"How can she not love you the most, Cheng Guang? You mustn’t say that; it will hurt your mommy’s feelings," Xu Jingjing gently reprimanded her naive nephew, "She! She loves and cherishes you the most, sweetheart."

Xu Jingjing, as an observer, clearly saw Xu Xiuxiu’s affection towards her three children. She knew Xu Xiuxiu also loved the boy and girl twins, but perhaps she had invested more emotions in Song Chengguang. From certain subtle signs, it was evident that she adored and spoiled Song Chengguang the most. She didn’t neglect him despite him being the eldest child and the twins’ arrival.

So, when Song Chengguang said Xu Xiuxiu didn’t love him, he was truly unjust to her.

"Hmph," responded Song Chengguang with a proud, pouty snort.

Watching the little guy’s antics, Xu Jingjing couldn’t help but laugh; she also realized that what Song Chengguang said was just a child’s naïve belief in his own hurtful words. In reality, he knew better!
