I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!
Chapter 13: What The Hell Is Wrong With My Husbands?!
CHAPTER 13: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY HUSBANDS?!
The world Roxanna currently lives in is half heaven and half hell. Even though the food supply is abundant and the weather is warm during the day, the threats they face are far worse than a snowstorm.
About twenty years ago, strange cracks suddenly opened in the air, like someone was tearing the world apart. From those cracks, thousands of demon beasts crawled out of the endless darkness.
They called it voids.
No one really understands the voids yet, but they know one thing: a void stays open for three years before it closes again. After that, a new one will open somewhere else.
The Vexaria settlement used to be a peaceful place until so many voids suddenly opened around it, and its location near the cursed forest certainly didn’t help.
"AAAAA!!! GO AWAY! GO AWAY!"
People in the Vixeria tribe ran around in panic. Some of them tripped over their own feet and fell flat on their faces.
Roxanna’s beast husbands thought she would panic too, but to their surprise, she was only shocked for a moment before she calmed herself down.
"Save..." Roxanna took a deep breath before she could speak properly. "We need to save the vulnerable people first."
Her voice sounded clear and calm on the outside, but honestly... her mind was not calm at all.
[Shit! Shit! Shit! Look at those bears!! THEY LOOK TERRIFYING!]
[Save people?! Oh god, I’m not even sure I can save myself!]
Sometimes Roxanna didn’t understand herself at all. Why did she always rush to help others when she could barely keep herself safe?
Her old colleagues used to tease her, saying she had a hero complex. They even warned her that one day, her kindness would come back to bite her.
Well... they weren’t wrong. It did backfire on her.
But just because she had been betrayed by two people, it mean she could pour her pain onto everyone else in this world.
So even though her heart was pounding hard and her legs felt weak, Roxanna stepped forward.
"Luan, Azul, help the elders and the children first!" she called out, trying her best to sound like a proper leader. "Make sure no one gets left behind!"
Luan and Azul nodded at the same time. Roxanna was actually surprised that they immediately listened to her, but she was glad they did.
The bears pushed their way into the settlement, and the first thing they attacked were the people living near the gate. Usually, those huts were only occupied by warriors, but because the evil Roxanna had accidentally—probably not accidentally—burned the huts inside the settlement, many elders and children had been forced to move closer to the entrance.
"MY LEGS! THE BEAR IS EATING MY LEGS!"
Roxanna ran toward the source of the scream. Her heart dropped when she saw a boar beastman dragging himself backward, leaving a trail of blood behind him. One of the bears had already torn off his right foot.
"I’ll get him!" Cyrus shouted before she could even react. He rushed in, grabbed the boar beastman, and pulled him away just seconds before another demon bear lunged for his remaining leg.
Roxanna winced when she saw the blood everywhere, and somehow... she couldn’t help but feel really bad about it.
Actually, the beast warriors of the Vixeria Tribe were among the strongest compared to other tribes. Because of their strength, it was rare for any tribe to declare war on the Vixeria Tribe.
But the problem was... the evil Roxanna had locked them away inside the black hut, a place usually used to isolate people who had committed mistakes. And apparently, their only "mistake" was that the commander had told her that she wasn’t as special as she thought.
The reason behind those harsh words was because the evil Roxanna always acted high and mighty. She thought she could do anything she wanted to her people and never face any consequences, just because they had sworn to protect her.
After a while, even the warrior commander, Marlow, got sick of her nonsense. He was actually ’this’ close to letting his head explode out of pure frustration, just so he could slap Roxanna’s face.
"I need to release the warriors," Roxanna said.
[The evil Roxanna locked them in there for three whole days. They probably hate me down to their bones,] Roxanna thought. [But I still need their strength. And if they want to spit on my face later, then I’ll just let them do it.]
Her beast husbands frowned deeply. Spit on her face?! There was no way any of them would let another man do something like that to her!
"I’ll take you there, but let me talk to them first," Zeir said, his voice firm and serious.
Calen quickly stepped in before Roxanna could say anything. "Let me go with you, I—"
"No," Zeir cut him off fast. "You can help Cyrus stop the demon beasts from eating other people."
Calen twitched the corner of his eye. He immediately suspected something. Was Zeir stopping him because he wanted some alone time with Roxanna?
Zeir probably wanted to mate with her first!
Calen was about to protest, but a demon bear suddenly rushed toward Roxanna.
"Tch." Calen clicked his tongue and instantly extended his claws, his ears shooting up in alert like an angry watchdog.
Before Roxanna could even gasp, Calen jumped in front of her. His muscles tightened, and his fur bristled as he slashed the bear across the face, forcing it to stumble back with a loud roar.
"Stay behind me, Wife!" Calen growled, his tail standing stiff behind him.
"Calen, take care of that bear!" Zeir said as he quickly scooped Roxanna into his arms. "I’ll go with my wife."
Calen spun around so fast he almost slipped. "What do you mean your wife?! She is our wife!!" Then he pointed a claw at Zeir. "Don’t you dare dirty her with your filthy aura, you old lizard!"
Zeir ignored his comment and simply lifted the corner of his mouth when he saw a bear almost bite Calen’s head off.
Roxanna, on the other hand, stared at the two of them with a completely confused look. Since when did they ever call the evil Roxanna their wife?!
Besides, instead of protecting her, shouldn’t they be letting her get torn apart by the bears? After all, she didn’t even give any command to protect her this time.
What the hell was wrong with her husbands?
