CHAPTER 16: WHO LET THE LEADER BECOME AN ANGEL?!

"T-the blood... the blood really can heal the wounds!" Grandma Mia—the fox beastwoman and one of the tribe elders—shouted in disbelief as she watched the gaping wound on a beastman’s stomach slowly close.

The beastman gritted his teeth so hard his jaw trembled. Roxanna’s blood burned like fire when it touched his skin, sending an unbearable pain through his body. But just like what she did to Azul yesterday, the wound sealed shut quickly, leaving his stomach smooth and scarless.

"She’s not a mimic!" Grandma Mia declared loudly. "This is truly the pink fox’s precious blood! This woman is our leader!"

Everyone immediately held their breaths and turned their gazes toward Roxanna. Most of them still couldn’t believe that this woman was their tribe leader, the one who would kick someone if they dared ask for her blood, even if it was just a single drop.

"Th-then... let me have the blood! My leg is almost torn off!"

"Me too! Me too! Me too!"

One by one, the lightly injured beastkin rushed toward Zeir, reaching out desperately for the waterskins. But Roxanna quickly raised her hand. "Stay back."

They frowned, thinking their evil tribe leader had returned. Some even suspected that, in order to get her blood, Roxanna probably wanted to whip their asses first.

But unexpectedly, the so-called evil tribe leader suddenly showed a bright smile. It was so bright that it nearly blinded their eyes.

"I know all of you really need my blood," she said gently, "but as you can see... I only have three bags right now, and to get more blood, I need to rest for a bit."

Roxanna clapped her hands once. "That’s why I will do disaster triage first."

All the beasts frowned in confusion. Calen became the first one to blurt out, "Trias what? Who the hell is Trias? Is that a man’s name?"

Roxanna’s eye twitched slightly. Just because the evil Roxanna was a man-obsessed lunatic, it didn’t mean every word that came out of her mouth would be related to a man.

"Disaster triage," Roxanna explained gently. "It’s a method to determine medical treatment priority." She clapped her hands again, then looked at each of her husbands. "Alright, please help me determine their conditions now!"

Roxanna then divided them into three groups: minor injuries, severe injuries but not life-threatening, and injuries that must be treated immediately.

To her surprise, all her beast husbands were able to follow her instructions so well, and they rarely asked any questions.

[My husbands are the best!] Roxanna cheered inside her mind.. [They’re so perfect! Oh my, just look at them! They’re brilliant and handsome. If only they were born in the modern era, they would all become famous actors or even successful men!]

Her beast husbands didn’t understand the word "actor," but they clearly understood the words "handsome" and "brilliant." Their expressions didn’t change much—well, Calen and Cyrus blushed a little—but inside their minds, they were screaming in happiness because their wife had just praised them.

[Calen’s muscles look the firmest among all of them.] Roxanna nodded to herself like a sports coach trying to pick a potential athlete.

But unbeknown to her, that simple thought actually caused a ruckus inside her beast husbands’ minds. All of them shot deadly glares at Calen, and Azul even looked like he wanted to throw the grandpa he was carrying straight at Calen’s head.

They all had the same exact thought: I’m better than him.

"Leader, I don’t think there’s enough blood for all the injured people," Grandma Mia said gently. She walked closer, looking unsure whether she should continue. "But... we can try rationing the blood. Their wounds won’t completely heal, but—"

"Oh, you don’t have to do that." Roxanna smiled warmly. "I can give you more blood."

Grandma Mia gasped. She stared at Roxanna as if she were looking at a five-headed dragon, something impossibly rare!

[Zeir stabbed me on the outer thigh earlier... maybe I can do that again,] Roxanna thought to herself.

At that exact moment, Azul—who was the gentlest among her husbands—suddenly dropped the poor grandpa he was carrying and lunged at Zeir’s neck. His hands wrapped around Zeir’s throat, shocking everyone around them.

His actions caused a commotion because those two had never fought before, and they were usually seen together all the time.

When Roxanna turned her head to check the noise, Azul instantly released Zeir’s neck and pretended nothing was happening. But the moment she looked away, he grabbed Zeir’s throat again, choking him so hard his face turned even paler than usual.

[I swear I heard something just now,] she thought. She shrugged, then walked toward Calen. "Calen, we need more blood. Can you stab me?"

Calen clenched his hand into a fist. Actually, he wanted to stab her, but definitely not in that horrifying way.

He replied, "Are you insane?"

"What?" Roxanna tilted her head. "Why are you asking that?"

"Roxanna, even a madman wouldn’t stab themselves just to bleed for other people," Calen said, sounding almost calm for once.

He was usually the quickest to lose his temper, yet surprisingly, he was the one speaking rationally now.

But of course he would think she was insane. Even Loba had never stabbed himself to give blood to others. The most he ever did was slice his hand and give whatever blood came out.

Meanwhile, Roxanna had actually considered cutting off her hand yesterday just to save Azul.

Seriously, what was wrong with her?

This wasn’t kindness anymore. It was starting to look like she didn’t value her own life, like she was willing to hurt herself just to help others, as if she was hiding self-harm or even suicidal thoughts behind good intentions.

"But it’s necessary," Roxanna insisted softly. "People need my blood."

"Yes, they do need your blood," Calen said. "But that doesn’t mean you have to drain all of your blood just for them. Besides, most of the severely injured people have already gotten your blood."

The rest were only people with minor wounds, or injuries that could wait until their healing ability kicked in.

Roxanna was about to say something, but someone suddenly shouted, "Hey, I can’t find Skiv and Lilo!"
