CHAPTER 30: A PINKY PROMISE WITH CALEN

How did she know? It could be seen from the way all of them stared at Azul like predators ready to sink their fangs into their prey.

Azul, on the other hand, faced them with a wide grin, feeling proud because he had tasted Roxanna’s sweetness and love first.

[They look kind of scary...] Roxanna thought nervously.

Within seconds, their husbands changed their expressions and flashed warm smiles at her.

At that moment, all of them were thinking the same thing: That fish can go to hell... but my Roxanna deserves heaven.

Calen then walked straight toward Roxanna and held out three white rabbits in front of her. "Wife, I brought you rabbits!"

Blood was still dripping from their bodies, making Roxanna frown a little. Calen added, "There isn’t much meat on rabbits, but their meat is softer than boar meat."

Calen urged her to take the rabbits, but Roxanna hesitated. She really didn’t want to touch the dead rabbits. [Rabbit meat is delicious, but I can’t eat it raw...]

The wrinkles on Calen’s face immediately deepened. It was because Roxanna kept refusing to accept his offering.

What? A refrigerator?! The system had just offered a reward in the form of a refrigerator that didn’t need electricity?!

T-that was amazing!

That way, Roxanna could store the meat inside the refrigerator and even make ice cubes so she could enjoy cold coconut water or fruit juice when the weather was hot!

[I really want that refrigerator!] she shouted happily in her heart.

Her husbands stared at her in confusion. They had no idea what a "refrigerator" even was.

Calen even thought it was the name of another man.

[The system gave me a cooking pot and a pack of salt. And with the cookbook, I might really be able to make something delicious,] Roxanna thought. [But... if I suddenly take those things out, won’t they be confused? Those are modern items, and I don’t even know how to explain them.]

[Or maybe... I can ask one of my husbands to help me cook and ask him to keep our little secret.]

Keep her little secret? All of them wanted to volunteer!

Azul even took a step forward, but Luan quickly grabbed the back of his hair and pulled him away. He had already been with Roxanna last night, so they refused to let him take any more of her time!

"Roxanna, you don’t like the rabbits?" Calen asked. Even though he could read her thoughts, he still wanted to hear her answer directly.

"It’s not that I don’t like rabbit meat..." Roxanna looked around at her husbands, trying to choose who would be best to help her. "I just don’t want to eat it raw."

"Then how do you want to eat it?" Calen raised his brow. He honestly still didn’t understand what she meant by cooking the meat.

"Like... roasted or something." Roxanna then looked straight at him. "Calen, can you help me hunt more rabbits? Two more would be enough."

[If I want to cook for all of them, I’ll need more meat,] she thought. [Calen likes hunting, so he should be able to catch more rabbits easily.]

"If I catch a lot of rabbits, can I help you with... what was it again? Roasting them?" Calen asked with hopeful eyes.

Roxanna nodded with a smile. Then she leaned closer to him and whispered, "But only if you can promise not to tell my magic secret to the others. Can you do that?"

Calen grinned from ear to ear. "Of course! I’ll even stuff bamboo in my mouth if I have to!"

Roxanna quickly shook her head. "You don’t need to go that far. Just promise me." She held out her little finger. "Hook your pinky with mine, and it’s a promise."

The other husbands’ thoughts began to turn chaotic. Luan had even been tugging on Azul’s long hair out of annoyance for quite some time.

"Like this?" Calen hesitantly hooked their pinky fingers together.

"Yes!" Roxanna laughed softly. "Don’t worry, our little secret won’t stay a secret forever."

In the end, she would definitely tell her other husbands about her modern items. The real reason she chose Calen was simply because he didn’t ask too many questions.

He was loud and a little rough, but from the evil Roxanna’s memories, he never questioned things that were too complicated. Maybe it was because the evil Roxanna used to force him to bite down on a wooden stick whenever he talked too much or rebelled.

Because of that, Calen had been quiet for the past few months, but he became noisy again once the evil Roxanna threw Azul into the Mushy Lake. It seemed like he had already gotten fed up with her and no longer cared even if she wanted to step on his head or something like that.

But fortunately, he didn’t need to worry about those things anymore because the current Roxanna would never hurt him!

Even if he accidentally revealed her little secret, she wouldn’t mind either. After all, that little secret was only an excuse for her to spend some private time with one of her husbands.

She simply treated it as compensation since she had only had sex with Azul last night. And she would also try to spend more private time with the others later.

"Do you want to come with me then?" Calen asked. "I can teach you how to catch rabbits."

Roxanna’s eyes lit up. She thought it was a great idea! She needed to start learning how to hunt by herself so that if her husbands ever decided to leave her, she would still be able to eat meat!

"I want to go!" Roxanna nodded eagerly. "But I’ve never hunted before. Is it really alright if I go with you? I don’t want to trouble you."

Calen tapped his chest proudly. "What are you talking about?! You could never be a burden to me!"
