I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!
Chapter 34: Don’t Peek or You Don’t Eat
CHAPTER 34: DON’T PEEK OR YOU DON’T EAT
They brought home around twenty rabbits from the forest, along with several green plants that Roxanna thought looked like mustard greens.
She wasn’t completely sure about the plants, but Calen ate them first to prove that they were not poisonous. In truth, he didn’t really understand why she even wanted to eat plants, but he did it anyway to make her feel safe.
"Dear Lord... was it all of you who cleaned this place last night?" Roxanna gasped when she saw her hut. Before, it had been full of disgusting trash, but now, it was completely clean.
There wasn’t a single piece of leftover meat scattered on the floor, and all of her clothes had been washed and hung outside to dry. The hut also no longer smelled bad because Zeir had mixed flower extract into the water and sprinkled it all over the floor.
"I’m such a great cleaner!" Calen said proudly.
"A great cleaner, my ass!" Luan snapped right away. "You were the only one lying around outside while the rest of us cleaned everything!"
Calen put his hands on his hips and argued back, "What? What do you mean I did nothing?! I was the one who threw away all the carcasses in this hut!"
"That’s because you kept saying you couldn’t clean it properly!"
"But that’s the truth! I can’t clean it thoroughly, and I didn’t want our wife to live in a hut that was cleaned sloppily," Calen defended himself.
Luan twitched at the corner of his eyes. "You were just pretending that you couldn’t!"
They kept throwing words at each other, and Roxanna couldn’t help but think they were just like a real cat and dog. No, maybe more like a cat and dog that had lived under the same roof for years but still loved to fight.
[They’re really cute,] Roxanna thought. [They’re fighting like brothers.]
Calen and Luan paused for a moment because they didn’t like their fight being called cute. But after thinking about it, they really were just bickering instead of actually clawing at each other.
"Calen, do you still want to help me cook? I need you to cut the rabbit meat," Roxanna said at last, trying to stop the fight.
"Why does it have to be Calen who helps you?" Luan asked a bit aggressively. "I can cut up the rabbits too. Besides... what do you mean by cooking? What is that?"
Roxanna was about to reply, but Calen spoke first. "She asked me to help because I caught a lot of rabbits for her! That’s why she rewarded me by letting me help her!"
Luan stared at him in disbelief. How could this big dog really think that work was a reward? Still, Luan also wanted to help Roxanna and spend time with her.
Roxanna rubbed her aching forehead because they kept bickering with each other. After a while, Zeir finally stepped forward and pushed the two of them apart.
"Calen, if you don’t want to help Roxanna, then I will," Zeir said calmly. Then he turned to Luan. "She has just recovered, so please don’t argue in front of her like this."
Azul suddenly spoke up, "Zeir is right! Our wife might still be tired after what we did all night."
Roxanna choked on air and her face instantly turned red when Azul said that. [He’s so shameless! How can he talk about that so proudly in front of everyone?!]
[Now he’s making me think about what we did last night again!] Roxanna thought.
She reflexively pressed her thighs together as she remembered the way Azul moved in and out of her honeypot last night.
On the other hand, all of Roxanna’s husbands turned their gazes toward Azul and started thinking that they should have just let him sink in the Mushy Lake.
"T-That’s enough!" Roxanna finally burst out, trying to cool down her burning face. "If you keep fighting like this, I won’t be able to cook. Calen, do you want to help me or not?!"
"Yes, I do!" Calen straightened his back at once. Then he ran toward Roxanna like an excited dog seeing its owner.
"I’ll bring these rabbits for you." Calen lifted the bamboo basket that was filled with dead rabbits. "Where do you want me to bring these rabbits?"
Roxanna fell silent for a moment. There was no kitchen inside the hut, so she had to cook outside. But that also meant her other husbands would be able to watch her.
"We’ll cook behind the hut," Roxanna said firmly, "but I don’t want any of you peeking at what we’re doing!" She looked at her other husbands one by one. "If anyone dares to peek, then... then I won’t feed you!"
[Ah, what kind of lame threat is that?! There’s no way my husbands would feel scared just because I said I wouldn’t feed them,] Roxanna thought.
But the truth was... they really did feel threatened by it. If one of them was going to be fed by Roxanna, then all of them wanted the same treatment!
"Do you understand?" Roxanna asked again, a little unsure because she still thought her threat was kind of silly.
"Understood!" they answered together, making her jump a little.
Roxanna went quiet for a moment, then said, "A-Alright... then please wait for your food for a bit!"
They nodded at the same time again. After that, Roxanna and Calen walked to the back of the hut.
While Calen was skinning the rabbits and cutting the meat, Roxanna spoke to the system in her mind.
[I want to open the cooking book. Is there a good recipe for rabbit meat? And also for the mustard greens?]
The system replied right away, sounding cheerful. [Of course, Host! This cooking book has many tasty recipes!]
The system then displayed the cooking book on a hologram screen and showed two simple recipes for making delicious grilled rabbit meat and stir-fried mustard greens.
However, before Roxanna could select the recipe, the system spoke again.
[Host, if you want the food to taste even better, you can also buy spices from the system shop!]
