CHAPTER 53: MEETING THE PRESIDENT

After watching these changes, Nash remained unmoved.

Managing a city or even a state was a waste of time.

He needed money, but earning it this way was too slow.

Furthermore, once Earth stabilized and the void signal was restored, he would focus his attention on the Dark Plane.

His squadmates also agreed with his vision.

With their connection to Camilla and the Fiero Family, their priority was to grow stronger as quickly as possible.

However, plans never kept up with changes.

While they stayed back at the base, minding their own business, Nash was suddenly summoned by a Void Commander.

"What is it now?" Emily muttered nervously.

Being called by a Void Commander, they felt scared for their captain.

"It should be about the previous matter," Nash guessed.

Killing a Void Commander, even if the opponent was injured and surrounded, was an incredible feat, especially for a fledgling Void Warrior like himself.

"Will you go, Captain?" Hector asked, ready to escape at a moment’s notice.

"There’s no need to worry," Nash reassured them.

Given the current situation, they wouldn’t have summoned him so respectfully if a Void Commander wanted to act against him.

If a fish were about to be chopped on the cutting board, why handle it so delicately?

What truly attracted them should be his connection to Camilla and the Fiero Family.

It seemed her identity was more important than he had thought...

After cleaning up and dressing neatly, Nash headed toward the meeting place set by the Void Commander.

---

A few moments later, Nash arrived at the designated location and saw a man lounging in a gazebo, lazily sipping a drink.

"He looked familiar..." Nash frowned, trying to recall who he was.

Activating the [Memory Module System], he dug through his dusty memories, retrieving the time he saw the man.

"President Trish?"

That’s right. The president of the Earth Alliance government. A core member of the Arleanian army.

Nash didn’t expect such an exalted figure to appear in an alliance led by rebels of the Arlean Civilization.

"It seems I don’t need an introduction. Sit." Trish gestured gracefully.

After taking a seat, Nash remained silent, waiting for Trish to tell him what he wanted.

Despite the surprise of seeing him here, it didn’t affect his composure.

"First, let me introduce myself properly. I’m Trish, the former president of the Earth Alliance and the current leader of the Blue Alliance."

"You’ve got guts," Nash commented.

Playing both sides, the president of Earth and the leader of its top rebel faction, it was a miracle that Trish’s head was still attached to his body.

"I’m just following orders. Otherwise, why would I risk my life like this?"

"Orders from who?"

"One of the top families in the Nova Sector. The Victor family. I was recruited as a son-in-law to serve them."

"The Victor family? Recruited as a son-in-law?" Nash was speechless.

He hadn’t expected the mighty Void Commander Trish to rise to power through marriage.

Looking at Trish’s refined demeanor and delicate features, it seemed he had managed to charm his way into a wealthy family.

"What’s your plan now? And why did you call me?" Nash asked bluntly.

"I’ll be leaving soon. I need you to take care of Earth." Trish said in a serious tone.

As a relative of an external force, once the Fiero family took control of Earth, he and his people would be kicked out of the government.

He needed a successor, and he had chosen Nash.

"Why me?"

"You’re the most suitable candidate. With your background and experience, I’m sure you’d do better than those high-ranking officials."

Trish had investigated Nash thoroughly.

He knew Nash had come from the slums and had risen to the top-ranking squad captain in just a few years.

"Furthermore, with your connection to Camilla and the Fiero family, becoming Earth’s ruler shouldn’t be a problem."

Although Nash’s face was disguised as a Void Commander, Trish could still see the true essence of his appearance.

With such a temperament, Nash shouldn’t be any worse than him.

"This—"

Seeing Trish look at him like they were the same, Nash couldn’t help but feel disgusted.

Him? A recruited son-in-law?

If he wanted a woman, he’d marry her into his household, not be absorbed into someone else’s family.

Although he didn’t care about such tradition, it would still hurt his pride to marry someone just for their identity or wealth.

Taking a deep breath, Nash shook his head.

"I don’t want this troublesome task."

"Furthermore, what you’re saying is too far-fetched. Why would the Fiero family hand me their hard-earned territory? Can’t they rule Earth themselves?"

"Arthur will surely be busy with his research. Those two kids are still too young. Camilla, on the other hand..."

Trish’s expression shifted.

"What happened to her?" Nash asked, noticing the change in his tone.

"After arriving at the Nova Military Academy, Camilla’s talent awakened, promoting her to a key training student of the academy."

"With that status, she won’t have time to manage Earth. So among the available options, only you remain."

"Camilla became a key training student? Good!"

According to the limited historical records Nash had read, the universe seemed to be ruled primarily by humans.

Though they appeared in different shapes and sizes, it was the result of mutations following human evolution.

With only a few hundred thousand years of history, Earthlings still carried the bloodline of first-generation humans.

If Camilla had evolved into a second-generation human, it made sense that her talent had awakened.

"Anyway, what do you think?" Trish pressed.

"What about a manager? They could just hand Earth’s administration to a committee or something."

"Weak people can never be rulers. In a world of transcendents, without power, they’d be swept away in an instant."

"I see..." Nash sighed.

This was no longer the peaceful Earth of the past. This was the interstellar era, where extraordinary power dictated survival.

A leader without strength would collapse at the first sign of trouble.

As for designating an external power to govern Earth? That was unreliable.

Who knew if the person left in charge would burn everything down the moment they turned their backs?

Considering all this, Nash realized he really was the best choice.

"Fine. What do you need me to do?"
