CHAPTER 68: COOKING A FEAST

Soon, with the Sun Bow, Nash’s hunting speed doubled multiple times.

With his range, any dark beast within a few kilometers was up to his mercy.

Thanks to the [Combat Module System] input, it only took him one arrow to kill all the targets.

Running through the Silver Forest, the dark beasts suffered an unexpected disaster.

Seeing this, William couldn’t help but complain.

"Nash, can you slow down a little? Leave some for me."

Unable to land a single hit on any monster, William felt completely useless.

"Oh, right. I’ll leave some for you."

Since he was borrowing William’s weapon, it was only fair to let him get in on the action.

Soon enough, William finally got his chance, fighting off a herd of White Boars.

Bam!

Like a brute, William punched through the head of a White Boar like it was a watermelon.

Unlike Nash, who concentrated the void energy through his eyes, William channeled his through his muscles, bones, skin, blood, and heart.

Because of this heavy void energy concentration, William looked like a giant when he fought.

Watching him, Nash couldn’t help but gulp.

He estimated that even if he pushed the [Overloading Module System] to 20x amplitude, his strength would still fall short of William’s.

Fortunately, he still had the edge in agility and fighting technique.

As they spread out and covered more of the Silver Forest, others in the area started to notice something strange.

"What’s going on in the Silver Forest? Why are there so few dark beasts?" Trey, the captain of the White Eagle Squad, frowned.

"Could they be gathering for a beast wave?" one of his squad members guessed.

"Let’s head back and report to the Lantern Shelter. This isn’t something we should mess with."

Fearing the danger brewing in the Silver Forest, they quickly returned to report to the Nova Government.

Meanwhile, Nash and William were taking a break after hunting to their hearts’ content.

"Are you going to cook again, boss?" After witnessing Nash’s strength, William felt that calling him "boss" was more than fitting.

"No, I brought an energy potion," Nash replied.

With such a good weapon, wasting time cooking felt unnecessary.

In just three hours of hunting, he had earned over a thousand merits, five times faster than his usual pace.

If he hadn’t stopped to collect material drops from some of the dark beasts, he could’ve made even more.

"No way, boss! How can you settle for an energy potion? That’s not real food!"

Sure, energy potions could fill your stomach, but they had no soul.

Wasn’t the whole point of fighting dark beasts to get stronger and enjoy life? Why settle for less?

"Even so, we only got a few pieces of meat." Nash shook his head.

Most of the dark beasts they’d fought were White Wolves.

Without much meat drop, it’d be hard to fill his stomach, especially with William around.

"Don’t worry, boss! I brought the ingredients with me!"

Seeing Nash give in, William quickly pulled out a full cooking set and a bunch of ingredients from his bracelet.

"A storage space?"

Speechless, Nash could only stare at William’s bracelet.

"That’s right! It’s not just a defensive treasure; it’s also a storage space!" William explained, urging Nash to start cooking.

Feeling a bit envious, Nash could only begin to cook a feast.

Though the [Autonomous Module System] only had a basic runic cooking program, it stored every dish Nash had ever eaten, everything from the most common meals to rare, exotic recipes.

As long as he had the ingredients, he could cook any of them with his eyes closed.

Even though the ingredients before him were unfamiliar, Nash didn’t hesitate.

He tested their texture, smelled their scent, sampled their taste, and studied their colors.

Then, without wasting any more time, he started preparing a full banquet.

He didn’t waste a single scrap.

Three hours later, every dish was done.

Fortunately, they had already wiped out the dark beasts in the area; otherwise, cooking for such a long time would have been dangerous.

"It’s done!"

A little addicted to cooking, Nash hadn’t even realized how quickly time had flown by.

After all, his lifelong dream had always been to enjoy a feast every day.

Even though he’d been slacking lately, he still tried to satisfy his taste buds at least once a week.

As Nash presented the dishes, William couldn’t wait any longer. He dove in, stuffing his mouth.

"Calm down. No one’s stealing from you." Nash chuckled, tasting his own food.

Taking a bite, he couldn’t help but close his eyes.

"Delicious."

Maybe it was because of the top-tier ingredients, but his taste buds were dancing with joy.

Forgetting all sense of image or caution, he followed William’s lead, devouring the food like they weren’t in the middle of a danger zone.

After nearly an hour of eating, the two of them lay flat on the ground, staring up at the clouds in a daze.

"Huh~ That was a delicious experience..." William muttered.

Even though his family had a private chef, he could only enjoy those meals at home.

In the Dark Plane, all he ever had were nutrient solutions or charred meat from street stalls.

Finally getting to eat a proper meal after so long in this grim world, William felt like he was dreaming.

Nash, holding his stomach in satisfaction, was equally content.

Even though he’d spent three hours cooking and one hour eating, he felt completely refreshed.

On top of that, seeing his Void Saturation rate rise by a full percent, he knew it had all been worth it.

[Nash Navre

Rank: Void Warrior (38%+)

Merit: 13,410]

"What tier was that meat?" Nash asked.

He knew the ingredients were high quality, but he didn’t expect them to directly boost his Void Saturation rate by 1 percent.

"It was just Tier 2 low-grade meat," William replied, already thinking about how he should bring a higher-tier ingredient next time.

With Nash’s cooking skills, it wouldn’t be a waste.

"I see..."

Feeling grateful to the muscle-head beside him, Nash made a mental note to team up with William more often.

As their time in the dark plane drew to a close, Nash and William stood up and returned to the Lantern Shelter.

With over a thousand merits earned and his Void Saturation rate pushed to 38%, Nash felt more than satisfied with the day’s results.
