CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 22: GUARDIAN SPIRIT AND COMPATIBILITY (PART 3)
This move looks familiar...
He checked his inventory and found the new item inside. The pattern indeed resembled a golden key, but the description indicated it could be used directly to open a Treasure Vault of the corresponding Level, allowing a random reward to be selected.
Stunned for a moment, Gu Mo looked again at Hidechika beside him, considering that the black-haired girl probably wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.
So, the key appeared in his hand. The moment he held it, he felt a weight in his hand; it was quite heavy.
It was as long as a baby’s arm, styled very primitively, and completely golden, exuding a noble aura...
He fell silent for a moment, examining the large key he was holding, wondering if it was truly made of pure gold, and just how many pounds it might weigh. On second thought, was using it a good choice, or should he find a way to sell it in the real world for a hefty profit?
Such strange thoughts flitted through his mind, but putting aside those concerns, how could any player resist the temptation of opening a box? Almost in the very next second, Gu Mo chose the glaring interaction option—
"Use."
Straight away, not far in front of him, the air in the middle of the room began to ripple like water, shimmering with golden light. Finally, the void sketched out lines that became tangible from nothing. A few seconds later, a door seemingly cast from gold materialized before him.
The door was tightly closed, secured with thick chains and a massive padlock.
Is there really a need for so much ceremony...
Looking down, Gu Mo somewhat carelessly took a step forward, inserting the large golden key into the lock on the door. With a gentle twist, he heard a click, and the key in his hand shattered, turning into light as the door lock and chains dissipated along with it.
The door slowly opened. Inside, there was of course not just the other side of the room, but a space filled with dazzling golden light, seemingly another unknown realm.
He was almost blinded by the brilliance and instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes. After a while, the sparkling effects didn’t disappear. Realizing this, he gritted his teeth, took a step forward into the door, and was engulfed by the overflowing golden light effects.
When the dazzling sensation faded, his vision returned to normal. Gu Mo found himself standing in a strange room, surrounded by heaps of gold, silver, and gems, vulgar but the sheen of precious metals and the luster of jewels perfectly highlighted the theme of this room — "Treasure Vault."
Directly ahead, in the center, a large fiery red fox sat poised atop a cylindrical platform, its many tails swaying gently behind it, visually resembling flames...
The next moment, as Gu Mo exchanged a surprised glance with it, it stood up from the platform, its gaze becoming incredibly sharp, and leapt forward.
Instantly, in his field of vision, it expanded rapidly, as if it had leaped onto his face...
......
Like waking from a dream, Gu Mo suddenly opened his eyes, finding himself partially leaning against the wall as he rested, just as before.
The house was old and bare, with no furniture at all. Before he tidied it up, the floor was a mess, with various items knocked over and scattered about. It seemed that when the incident happened last night, the owner of the house hurriedly gathered their belongings to flee the village.
Beside him, the black-haired girl continued to breathe deeply in her sleep.
The entire process of "receiving a random reward in the Treasure Vault" that had just happened, in reality, didn’t actually exist? He felt uncertain and looked around in confusion.
"Here you go, here you go, I found something to eat, brother, come and have a taste..."
At this moment, Fujikichiro’s somewhat sleazy uncle-style voice came from outside the door. The next second, he opened the door and entered with a familiar and friendly smile on his face.
Yet immediately, Fujikichiro’s voice stopped abruptly, and his pupils contracted slightly. In his eyes, he could see the strange young man with a massive fox, its body like a flame, lying quietly beside him, with nine tails slowly fluttering.
Is this his Guardian Spirit?
But why a Nine-tailed Fox?
Fujikichiro was instantly shocked. Being possessed by the Divine Ape, the messenger of the Mountain King, and having honed himself over the years as a Spirit Stone Merchant, he naturally understood that Guardian Spirits were not something everyone could have and that they only chose those whose fates uniquely matched theirs.
And the Nine-tailed Fox...
Is a symbol feared as "a being that brings an era of chaos," but also revered as a totem of "the arrival of an era of peace."
But either way, it seemed to predict that this young man might end up becoming an incredible figure, possibly a pivotal existence impacting this entire chaotic world...
In an instant, Fujikichiro’s eyes lit with fervor.
