Chapter 302 - 300: The Indescribable Upgrade Process
CHAPTER 302: CHAPTER 300: THE INDESCRIBABLE UPGRADE PROCESS
The research on isotope generators still has to start from the Isotope Thermoelectric Battery.
As the energy source for the isotope generator, the Isotope Thermoelectric Battery is something Chen Xin has already mastered completely. He just needs raw materials, and he can manufacture them endlessly.
Of course, as a single person, the efficiency of manufacturing the Isotope Thermoelectric Battery has its limits. Even though he has the system’s upgrade functionality, allowing him to upgrade anything he sees, in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it’s still better to establish a production line and let others handle the manufacturing.
However, before that, to facilitate the construction and research of isotope generators, Chen Xin manually crafted a batch of Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries as research materials.
"Mr. Chen Xin, how is this isotope generator supposed to be made?" The researchers delivered the materials and components Chen Xin needed to his laboratory, eagerly watching him, wanting to know how exactly he planned to construct this seemingly sci-fi isotope generator.
Chen Xin only smiled and then explained, "It’s hard to explain, just watch. Generally, you connect three batteries together and increase their output power."
After saying this, Chen Xin started assembling the parts in front of him.
As before, the system can indeed achieve infinite upgrades, turning an ordinary car battery into an Isotope Thermoelectric Battery. But unless Chen Xin assembles the three Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries together and creates something that can be called a frame, forming a unit that can be viewed as a generator, he cannot upgrade it into an isotope generator.
After all, three batteries are just three batteries. Without assembling them together, they cannot be regarded as a generator.
Seeing Chen Xin assembling the parts, the researchers quickly gathered around, some helping, some recording. Although busy, they were organized and didn’t hinder Chen Xin, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and coordination.
While Chen Xin and the others were assembling the parts, an old professor who had previously had a conflict with Chen Xin also rushed over.
Even though this project was supposed to be highly confidential, preventing unauthorized access, the old professor managed to convince the gatekeepers to let him in after identifying himself to plead with Chen Xin.
"That old professor? Does he want to join this project too?" Chen Xin was a bit surprised, and at the same time, he questioned the old professor’s motives.
But the person pleading for the old professor explained to Chen Xin, "This old professor’s name is Zhou. He is the academic leader of the Polytechnic College and a leading nuclear physics expert in the country. If there’s anyone in the Polytechnic College who can assist you, Mr. Chen, in developing the isotope generator, it would be this old professor."
Chen Xin did not comment on this assessment, as he indeed did not understand these matters. Plus, too many so-called experts and scholars had emerged online in recent years, with everyone daring to claim to be a renowned scholar or authority in a certain field, turning the term "expert" into a joke.
However, considering that the people around him were all state-appointed researchers, Chen Xin hesitated for a moment before nodding and agreeing to let them bring in the old professor.
The old professor was quickly invited in. He saw the things Chen Xin and the others were assembling but refrained from making any rash evaluations or intervening; he just stood by and seriously watched Chen Xin and the others put the components together.
The assembled equipment was a triangular frame approximately two meters high, with a disc at both the base and the top, which had three slots just right for fixing the Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries.
Besides that, the entire base of the frame housed some simple circuits, seemingly intended to channel the battery’s electric power. The whole setup looked undeniably crude and rudimentary.
However, none of the people in the lab considered this odd.
Chen Xin knew that after his upgrade, the setup would look much better, so there was no need to waste unnecessary energy on the prototype.
Meanwhile, both the old professor and other researchers were already accustomed to prototype devices appearing crude, as scientific research has always been about cobbling something together to solve whether it exists or not, and then gradually improving it.
No prototype has ever emerged fully functional, nor has any researcher prioritized aesthetics in making a prototype.
Even so, the old professor frowned slightly and remarked, "Isn’t the circuit design a bit too crude? It’s just connecting the three batteries in parallel; why not optimize the connection method of the circuits?"
"We’ll assemble the equipment first; I’ll address the optimization shortly." Chen Xin turned back to the old professor and explained, "This is my ability. I accidentally acquired Savant syndrome, allowing me to optimize and modify any equipment. However, I know how to do it, but I can’t explain the principles behind it."
"Is that so?" The old professor clearly had his understanding challenged but didn’t express much beyond that. After all, Chen Xin’s previous feat of modifying the boiler was undeniable. He had no intention to comment further without firsthand witnessing Chen Xin’s ability.
As long as one can validate the results and replicate the process, it is scientific, according to the old professor. Science should not be rigid doctrines and formulas but a method of cognition that can be falsified. As long as it can be falsified, it aligns with scientific principles.
As for incomprehensibility, that merely indicates a lack of accumulated knowledge and an inability to comprehend all things.
Chen Xin didn’t plan to explain much to the old professor either. Sometimes, demonstrating once is far more effective than explaining a thousand times, so after attaching the three Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries to the device before him, he directly activated the system’s upgrade functionality.
A green light flashed, and in an instant, what was once a rough device underwent tremendous changes. The previously exposed components were now encased in a layer of pretty white shell, looking simple and clean.
The previously criticized circuit connections had gained a new appearance, although hidden beneath the shell, it was evident that the circuits had been newly optimized.
This was the first time the old professor had seen Chen Xin’s ability in action, leaving him in utter astonishment. Astounded by what he "saw," he couldn’t help but murmur, "What manner of... simply..."
The life-long rigorous academic old professor, at this point, didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t even find an accurate adjective to describe the scene he was "seeing."
Watching the old professor’s reaction, Chen Xin couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless. Luckily, his ability wasn’t derived from Cthulhu Mythos; otherwise, with the system’s performance, the old professor would most likely be mentally impacted and turn into a follower of the Ancient Dominators.
After all, system upgrades, from the perspective of ordinary people, indeed appear indescribably mysterious.
