Chapter 408: The Doom of Asgard! Not Even a Creator God Could Save It
"Father!!"
Thor screamed in horror, unable to believe what he was seeing.
He couldn’t understand, couldn’t accept that the all-powerful King of the Gods could be killed so easily...
"How could this happen?!"
Thor snapped.
It felt like a nightmare—one more terrifying than anything he’d ever imagined.
His father had unleashed the strongest strike of his life. The sheer force of it had shaken Thor to the core. So why... why had it been so easily shattered?
Wasn’t it said that once the Eternal Spear was thrown, death was certain?
Someone had indeed died.
But it was his father!!
Thor wasn’t the only one who couldn’t accept it.
Seeing Odin nailed to the palace gates, eyes wide open in death—Hela, Loki, even Heimdall were all frozen in disbelief.
"This isn’t possible!!!"
Hela cried out.
As Odin’s firstborn, she had known him for far longer than her younger brother Thor. She understood her father well. The older he got, the stronger he became.
She had always believed the old man would live until he died of natural causes.
Because no one could possibly kill him...
And now? He was dead?
The King of the Gods—
Fallen.
In truth, Odin’s death was his own fault.
He had thrown the Eternal Spear at two monsters.
The Eternal Spear was indeed powerful—once launched, it was guaranteed to hit its target. A divine weapon with a homing effect.
What did "guaranteed hit" mean?
It meant no matter how far the target ran, or what tricks they used, the spear would always find and strike them.
But the spear was not invincible.
Chen Ye’s current power was terrifying beyond words—already many times beyond the limits of what the Eternal Spear could affect. Hoping to kill him with it was nothing short of delusional.
The same was true of Adam.
So when Chen Ye caught the spear barehanded and played with it like a toy, it wasn’t because the spear was weak—but because his strength was too overwhelming.
Even so, the Eternal Spear’s mystical homing effect remained.
When Chen Ye threw its broken tip back, that effect still functioned.
Thus—
Odin’s death became a tragedy of his own making.
After all, as King of the Gods, no ordinary weapon could have killed him.
In all of Asgard, only the Eternal Spear could.
...
"Father...!! I’ll kill them!! I’ll kill those monsters!!"
Once Thor confirmed Odin’s death, he roared in fury. Grabbing his hammer, he charged toward Chen Ye and Adam.
Loki reacted quickly, grabbing Thor and holding him back.
"Thor, calm down! You’re no match for them! Charging in now is suicide!"
"Let me go!" Thor struggled and shouted, "Even if I die, I’ll die in battle!"
"Your death would be meaningless, you idiot!"
That cold rebuke came from the Goddess of Death, Hela.
As the eldest and rightful heir to the throne of Asgard, she was the only one qualified to scold Thor this way.
Thor froze, then roared back, "They killed our father! Are we just going to let that go?!"
Hela sneered. "Can you kill them? Can you avenge Father?"
Of course he couldn’t.
Just as Thor was about to say something, the ground began to tremble again.
This quake was even stronger than when Adam first transformed into Super Saiyan.
Mountains in the distance and the palace behind them began to collapse.
"What now?!" Loki cried in fear.
Hela’s expression shifted. She seemed to sense something and said grimly, "This is bad. Asgard can’t withstand the damage from those two monsters. It’s on the verge of destruction."
"What?!"
Everyone, including Heimdall, was shocked.
"What do we do?" Loki asked urgently.
Hela looked up toward the two combatants.
She couldn’t see either of them—only when they collided could she barely glimpse the apocalyptic force in their punches.
She knew very well—either of them could casually throw a punch at the ground and wipe out all of Asgard.
That Asgard still stood now was only because the two were focused on fighting each other.
Even so, just the residual shockwaves from their battle had already pushed Asgard to the brink of annihilation.
With that in mind, Hela suddenly closed her eyes as if making a difficult decision. Then she opened them and declared:
"As the rightful heir to the throne, I order everyone—evacuate Asgard immediately!"
Loki and Heimdall’s expressions shifted.
Heimdall thought for only a moment before agreeing with her decision.
Thor, however, protested: "Hela, are you giving up on Asgard?"
Hela nodded. "Yes. No one can stop those two monsters. Staying here means certain death. We must leave. As long as we live, we can rebuild Asgard someday... Is that explanation clear enough for you, my foolish little brother?"
Thor turned red with anger. "Asgard is the land of the gods! As gods, we can’t abandon it!"
Hela turned to Loki. "Loki. Let him go."
Loki blinked. "Sister?"
"Let the fool go die. Notify everyone else. We’re evacuating. Heimdall, prepare the Bifrost!"
Loki hesitated, then let go of Thor. He asked quietly, "Where are we going?"
Hela had initially planned to say that any of the Nine Realms they’d once conquered would do...
But after seeing the destructive power of those two monsters, she changed her mind.
"Anywhere far from here. As far as possible!"
After that—
Everyone moved quickly.
Hela headed to the treasure vault to gather the most important artifacts.
Loki went to the residential district to evacuate civilians and lead them toward the Bifrost.
Heimdall was in charge of activating the portal.
As for Thor...
No one cared.
They really seemed ready to let the fool die.
Watching everyone leave, Thor’s face flushed pale, then red. Gritting his teeth, he finally turned and flew in Loki’s direction.
Chen Ye, Adam, Han Li, and Hu Zhong didn’t even glance at the fleeing gods.
To them, only the enemy before their eyes mattered.
At the same time—
Han Li had also clashed with the spirit-wielder.
Chaotic magic and spells filled the battlefield.
...
"Hey! Loki, you can’t notify everyone on your own. You need help!"
Thor quickly caught up to Loki.
Loki gave him a look of encouragement and said, "You take the East District. I’ll handle the West."
This version of the brothers had no rivalry over the throne. Their relationship was genuinely good.
"No problem!"
Thor answered and flew toward the East District.
...
A few minutes later—
Thousands of Asgardians had gathered at the Bifrost, waiting for Heimdall to activate the portal.
Hela and the others were maintaining order.
Even in retreat, the evacuation needed to be done in an orderly fashion.
Hela, of course, had seen Thor among the crowd.
She didn’t say anything about him backing down at the last moment...
RUMBLE!
The destruction of Asgard had become even more severe.
Hela could clearly sense that at least half the continent was collapsing and sinking.
Even the Bifrost was beginning to shake.
Seeing this, Loki shouted loudly, "Everyone, move faster! Drop everything you’re carrying! Leave them—just get out!"
Many Asgardians, though reluctant, obeyed. They discarded their luggage, dropping all the large and small parcels in their hands.
Without those burdens slowing them down, the evacuation sped up immediately.
Soon—
All the ordinary citizens of Asgard were teleported away by Heimdall. Only Hela, Thor, and the others remained.
"Are we... really leaving Asgard like this?"
Just before departure, Loki seemed unwilling to accept it.
He had once longed for the throne of the palace, hoping to prove himself the finest prince of Asgard...
And now, before that dream could even begin, Asgard was about to be gone.
"We will build a new Asgard," Hela said.
Thor, however, asked, "What about avenging Father?"
Just as Loki was about to respond, a massive shadow suddenly darkened the bright sky.
"What’s going on?"
When Loki looked up and clearly saw the figure above, his expression changed drastically: "That’s... Galactus?! Why is he here?!"
In the sky hovered a colossal divine being.
Its head alone was larger than all of Asgard combined!
Thor and Heimdall were equally stunned.
As gods themselves, they naturally knew about Galactus.
Known as the Devourer of Worlds, Galactus was one of the Five Great Creator Gods of the Marvel Universe—and the last survivor of the previous destroyed universe.
He fed on planets, earning him the title "Planet Destroyer." Among the five deities, he was the god of destruction. In all of Marvel’s cosmos, even ordinary Celestials were beneath him in power.
Any planet targeted by Galactus was almost certainly doomed.
Compared to Galactus, gods like them were mere mortals. Galactus was the true god!
"It was I who invited him," Hela said calmly, a hint of madness flashing in her eyes. "I told him Asgard was his appetizer, and that he could destroy everyone here along with the realm itself."
Everyone quickly understood her intention.
Clearly, knowing revenge was hopeless, Hela had summoned Galactus for one final move—"use a tiger to devour a wolf," setting the devourer against those two monsters in a battle to the death.
It had to be said—
The plan was ruthless. Even Loki and Heimdall were impressed by Hela’s resolve.
Even Thor, in this moment, couldn’t help but admire his sister.
...
In the sky—
Once Galactus appeared, he wasted no time and immediately began to devour Asgard.
He opened his enormous mouth, which became a black hole-like vortex, radiating an overwhelming gravitational pull.
Under the pull of this near-black-hole force, the already-ruined Asgard began to collapse and reverse in flow, with debris flying into the sky toward Galactus’s gaping mouth.
Even the air wasn’t spared.
CRACK!
The palace collapsed instantly, soaring into the air and vanishing into Galactus’s maw.
Watching the palace they’d grown up in being destroyed, the group’s expressions grew complicated.
"It’s time to go!" Hela ordered. "Heimdall—activate the teleportation!"
If they waited any longer—
They too would be sucked in, becoming nourishment for the true god.
Heimdall nodded and began to activate the portal.
But just then, something incredible happened in the distance...
...
Back when Galactus first arrived—
Han Li and the others had noticed him.
As Reincarnators, they were fully aware of Galactus’s identity—one of Marvel’s Five Great Creator Gods.
Chen Ye and Adam were indeed surprised by Galactus’s arrival.
But only surprised. They showed no fear whatsoever.
And once Galactus began devouring the planet, both Chen Ye and Adam halted their fight in unspoken agreement.
"What an annoying fly," Adam grumbled.
Chen Ye clenched his fist and asked seriously, "You or me?"
"You already handled Odin. Let me take this one," Adam replied.
As he spoke, Adam suddenly planted his feet, taking a classic stance.
Then—
A clear voice rang out from his mouth.
"Kame... hame... ha!"
WHOOSH!
A massive blue-white energy beam, thicker than a truck, erupted from Adam’s palms and shot into the sky—aimed straight at Galactus!
Chen Ye had once seen Martial God Li use the Kamehameha against Ghidorah in the National Secret Realm.
At the time, its power was shocking.
But compared to Adam’s version now, Li’s Kamehameha looked like a limp mushroom...
In Super Saiyan 2 form, this Kamehameha was utterly terrifying!
The blue-white pillar of light pierced the sky, tearing space apart in an instant.
The ground beneath Adam’s feet caved in, forming a crater several hundred meters wide.
WOOOOOOO—
The energy beam struck Galactus cleanly—right in the mouth.
In that instant—
The all-devouring, all-powerful Galactus’s entire head exploded.
With Galactus’s head gone, the reverse gravitational flow above Asgard halted. All the mountains, dirt, and debris that had been sucked into the sky came crashing down.
Even Chen Ye had to admit—this damned Adam, just with that one Kamehameha, was absolutely terrifying.
Even he might not be able to withstand that kind of impact.
Of course, with Chen Ye’s defense, he wouldn’t die—but he might get blown away.
Meanwhile—
Having witnessed what just happened, Hela screamed in terror: "Heimdall, send us away! NOW!!"
Loki was trembling, his legs going weak. Even Thor was pale and drenched in cold sweat...
One of the Five Great Creator Gods—Galactus!
Even he could be killed?
Just who were these two freaks?!
They were terrifying!
