CHAPTER 183: WHO IS LORD SAM?

While the other Omegas were discussing and mumbling among themselves, wondering why and how this particular Omega would get pregnant.

Theron looked around till his eyes fell on Rin. He parted his lips like he wanted to say something but Rin wasn’t looking at him. Rin was busy thinking about how Lirien was going to handle this when she already had a lot on her plate.

Rin suddenly turned to look at the unconscious Omega and snapped his finger at Kiro.

"Let’s take her to her quarters first," he said, and finally, his eyes met Theron’s. "I also need you to check on her, so please, come with me,"

"Okay," Theron replied without wasting much time.

They carried her to the room and Theron walked behind Rin, staring at him from behind. Even if he wanted to say a lot of things, he just couldn’t. The Rin he knew before was so different from the Rin he knew now. He used to be the boss of Rin, but now, Rin is the boss.

He sighed deeply and entered the Omega’s room. Rin stopped in front of her drawer and pulled it. He didn’t mean to pry, but he was looking for clues to back up what he had in his head.

He pulled it and saw a bunch of letters in it. He then grinned and...

"Bingo," he said.

He was about to take one of the letters when Kiro called his name.

"Rin..."

Rin looked at him and furrowed his brows.

"What?"

"Do I call for Lirien?" He asked.

"Sure. Call for her. Don’t let mom know about it,"

Kiro nodded and left. Rin looked back into the drawer and picked a letter. He pulled it open since the seal had already been broken.

His eyes scanned through the handwriting, and it was immediately clear that Rin was able to know that it was written by a nobleman. He slipped his fingers into his hair and let out a groan.

"I knew it," he said.

"Did you find something?" Theron asked him. Rin lifted his head when he heard Theron’s voice. He didn’t expect to be alone with Theron, apart from the unconscious pregnancy lady on the bed.

Rin didn’t feel like answering his question. He would have pretended he didn’t hear anything if only he hadn’t lifted his head.

"It’s just a letter from a nobleman,"

"Let me guess, he promised to marry her?" Theron asked and Rin nodded his head. He read the other letters, and there was one of them that was still sealed. He didn’t hesitate to open it and he stared at the content in it. Theron saw him opening the new letter and walked towards Rin, standing close to him from behind. Rin closed the letter and stared at Theron.

"What was that?"

"Huh? I... I just wanted to look at the letter,"

Rin rubbed his forehead and snapped his finger.

"You know what I’m talking about... What the hell was that?"

Theron lowered his head.

"I apologise..."

"If you try to use your Pheromones on me again, I’ll make sure you get thrown out of here," Rin frowned and Theron apologised again. He had no idea that Rin would be able to sense it.

He did hear a rumour that Rin had been marked by an Alpha, which is why he was no longer going to be the golden goose.

He was sure that the Alpha mentioned in that rumour was Lucien. He could remember just a few years back when he was trying to stop those two from meeting each other as per the rules of the academy that stated that the relationship between staff and students was prohibited.

Now, he couldn’t stop them anymore. He felt jealous. Jealous that he wasn’t the one to end up with Rin.

When he snapped out of his thoughts, he saw Rin reading the letter and he stepped close. Close enough not to touch Rin’s body, and he stared at the contents of the letter.

He furrowed his brows as he read. The content stated that she should not let anyone know that they had slept together. Once the war starts, he’ll make sure they run away together. They would find a place, live together and become a happy family.

Rin frowned and squeezed the letter.

"That fucking pervert! He’s just trying to use her... Happy family? Such a classic fairytale!"

Rin heard a soft groan coming from the bed and walked towards it to talk to the Omega. He doesn’t remember her name as there were over two hundred Omegas in the brothel. There were even some who had sneaked in but Lirien still allowed them to stay since she couldn’t send them out.

"Where am I?" She asked as she sat up slowly.

"Your room, don’t you remember what happened?"

"Rin?" She suddenly straightened up when she saw Rin. She has never seen him up close but only from a distance. Everyone kept talking about him and she was a bit jealous of him.

Not the negative kind of jealousy. She was one of the people who had sneaked into the brothel, and her reason was simple. Her family was a bit well-off. Her mother owned a store and her father worked at the palace as a secretary. He always gets laughed at and discriminated against because he is the only commoner working in that department. Her father was trying to get her married to someone she didn’t like. He wanted to use her for a political marriage since she was an Omega.

She managed to run away and sneak into the brothel to secretly meet her lover whenever she wished.

’I hope I haven’t gotten caught,’ she thought to herself, but when she saw the drawer open, she knew her secret had already been exposed.

"I’m sorry. I was working at the main hall and..."

"You collapsed," Rin concluded her sentence for her. "Do you know why you collapsed?" He asked.

"I... I was tired. I felt a bit sick this morning and I kept vomiting. I’m sorry, I’ll go back to work immediately," she said, trying to get off the bed.

"You’re pregnant," Rin had announced to her. She covered her mouth with both hands and started sobbing. Rin and Theron exchanged glances with each other.

’Why is she crying? Isn’t she supposed to be...’

"Oh, thank the goddess," she suddenly mumbled and Rin rolled his eyes. It was tears of joy.

"Lord Sam would be very happy," she said, pressing her hand on her stomach. "He would be very happy,"

She repeated herself.

"If he’s happy, then, I’ll be very disappointed,"

They heard a voice from the door and when they turned their heads, they saw it was Lirien. She folded her hands and walked towards the lady.

"What would your mother say when she sees her daughter pregnant with a man they didn’t approve of?" She asked.

The lady blinked repeatedly.

"Madam, you... You know my mother?" She asked.

"Your mother visits every weekend just to make sure you’re fine. I wanted to send you away but she told me to let you be. She wanted you to see for yourself what kind of man you’re in love with, but I made a mistake. I should have thrown you out from the very start," Lirien yelled at her but her expression was calm and cold. And it was also filled with just a little bit of regret.

"No, I’m sorry. But, I really love Lord Sam..he promised to marry me and..."

"Do you know that Lord Sam is married with three children?" She asked and the lady’s jaw dropped. Fresh tears began to roll down her cheek. It was no longer tears of joy but... Maybe tears of anger, regret and... Pain.

"There’s no way he would be married. He... He told me he loved me," she said.

"Lord Sam had impregnated more than five girls from different brothels and... They are all dead. Do you want to know why?" She asked and the lady shook her head.

"No. You’re lying. You want me to give up,"

Rin wanted to know why. He has no idea who this lord Sam was.

"Why? Tell me, Aunt,"

"Because they were all killed by his wife. His wife wouldn’t want anyone to destroy her home, even if she can’t stop her husband from cheating on her,"

The lady couldn’t speak. She kept crying, placing a hand on her stomach. Lord Sam had promised her the sky and the moon and everything, but now, she was listening to something she never thought would be related to him.

"It’s best you get rid of the baby. If you wish to keep the child, you can return to your family," Lirien paused and looked at her small watch. "You have until tomorrow morning before you make your choice,"

She turned to Rin and then Theron.

"You two should go to bed. It’s late,"

"Yes, Aunt,"

"Yes, Madam,"

They turned around and left the room. The Omega remained in the bed, crying her eyes out.

Rin followed Lirien behind while Theron went the other way.

"I wonder what she would pick, Aunt,"

"I don’t care. As long as she fell for that story," Lirien waved her hand.

"Yeah... Wait! What? That was a lie?"

Lirien looked at Rin and smirked.

"Do you think I know who Lord Sam is? Go to bed, Rin,"

Rin froze as Lirien left. He thought he was best at fooling people, but he met someone stronger than he was.
