I, Gary, Want to Become a Pokemon Master
Chapter 512: Gary vs. Brandon
"Tyranitar, it's your turn!"
Gary Oak hurled the Poké Ball into the air with confidence.
Bang!!
A burst of dazzling white light split the field—then, with a thunderous roar, a colossal figure emerged. Tyranitar stomped onto the battlefield, the ground trembling under his sheer weight. His emerald scales glinted, and his crimson eyes gleamed with hungry anticipation as he gazed at his opponent—Regirock.
[Level 71 – Tyranitar – Pseudo Legendary]
"Raaaargh!!" Tyranitar bellowed, pounding his chest.
May gaped, pulling out her Pokédex.
Pokédex: "Tyranitar, the Armor Pokémon. Tyranitar's body is so sturdy that it cannot be harmed by any attack. Its strength is enormous—it can knock down mountains and bury rivers simply by walking. It has an overbearing nature and fears nothing."
"This Tyranitar looks so fierce," May said, awed.
Brock nodded. "Fierce—and one of the strongest Rock-types there is. Tyranitar's power easily ranks among pseudo-legendaries."
Max's eyes lit up. "Finally, I get to see it again! It's been years since the Indigo Plateau Conference, and somehow, it looks even more majestic now."
Watching calmly from across the field, Brandon smirked to himself. "A pseudo-legendary right from the start… Gary Oak's not a normal trainer at all. That Tyranitar is exceptional."
Samuel raised his arm. "Both sides have sent out their Pokémon! The battle begins!"
Gary pointed forward. "Tyranitar—use Earthquake!"
"Raaawr!!" Tyranitar let out a ferocious roar, raising one massive foot before slamming it down.
BOOM!!
The entire Battle Pyramid rumbled. The ground split in jagged patterns as seismic waves rippled outward.
Regirock braced himself, plates grinding, absorbing much of the quake with sheer endurance. Even restrained by type disadvantage, his physical defense was extraordinary.
"Bolt Strike, Regirock—use Focus Punch!" Brandon's deep voice echoed.
"Reji!" Regirock's eyes lit up gold as he surged forward, his gigantic fist crackling with concentrated fighting spirit.
Gary didn't flinch. "Tyranitar, use Dynamic Punch head-on!"
Tyranitar charged forward, eyes blazing with determination. Each step made the battlefield quake anew.
"Reji!!" "Raaaaaw!!"
The two giants collided mid-field with deafening force—BOOM!!—shockwaves blasted outward, rattling the steel walls of the Battle Pyramid.
When the dust cleared, both Pokémon stood their ground, arms locked, neither yielding an inch.
"They're evenly matched?!" Max exclaimed. "That's crazy! Tyranitar's actually fighting Regirock head-on!"
Brock nodded slowly, impressed. "Ash had to rely on strategy and speed when he battled Brandon's Regirock. But Gary's brute-forcing through—his Tyranitar's pure power is something else entirely."
The locked struggle broke. Both Pokémon jumped back, stamping cracks into the floor.
"If you can't match force with force, use tactics—but if you can, shatter everything in front of you," Gary murmured.
"Tyranitar, Dark Pulse!"
"Raaan!!" Tyranitar unleashed a swirling wave of black energy from his maw. The blast streaked forward in a column of shadow, slamming squarely into Regirock.
BOOM!
Regirock skidded backward, its rocky armor splintering slightly under the dark energy's pressure. It groaned, struggling to stabilize.
"Regirock's special defense isn't holding up," Brock analyzed. "Tyranitar's special attacks are surprisingly strong for a physical powerhouse!"
Brandon crossed his arms. "Lock On!"
The orange dots across Regirock's face began glowing intensely, forming a crimson target over Tyranitar's chest.
Ash leaned forward. "That's Lock On—he's getting ready for a guaranteed hit!"
Brock's expression hardened. "Then the next move will be… Zap Cannon."
Everyone tensed.
"Regirock, Zap Cannon!" Brandon commanded.
"Reji!"
Regirock's hands gathered golden-static energy, creating a blinding sphere of light. With a ground-shaking roar, it fired—Zap Cannon!
The powerful electric projectile screamed through the air like a meteor aimed directly at Tyranitar.
Gary stood firm. "Tyranitar—Protect!"
A glowing green barrier materialized instantly around Tyranitar. The Zap Cannon smashed into it—BOOM!—exploding in a flash of light and smoke.
The barrier shattered under the pressure, but Tyranitar remained unscathed.
"Now—charge in with Body Slam!" Gary shouted.
"BAAAAN!!"
From within the smoke, Tyranitar lunged—his massive silhouette emerging suddenly from the haze. He crashed into Regirock like a falling meteor!
BANG!!
The impact sent seismic ripples through the arena. Regirock's knees buckled under the weight, the floor beneath it webbing with spider-like cracks.
"Focus Punch, now!" Brandon countered.
"Dynamic Punch, Tyranitar—match it!" Gary roared back.
Both Pokémon's fists lit up again, one in golden aura, the other in blinding white energy. They struck at the same time.
CRASH!!
The collision rocked the entire Battle Pyramid. Tyranitar stumbled backward, roaring in pain—a Fighting-type move like Focus Punch hit him with terrifying force, quadrupling damage. He managed to dig his claws into the ground, gashing furrows into the floor to stop himself.
"Raaaaargh!" Tyranitar snarled furiously, then snarled again as Regirock staggered forward, its balance wavering. The Focus Punch had dealt massive damage—but so had Dynamic Punch, leaving Regirock disoriented.
"Regirock, Lock On again!" Brandon called out.
But Regirock's eyes were spinning, its movements erratic. It couldn't process the command clearly; every tremor of its body showed its confusion.
Gary's eyes sharpened. "Now's our chance! Tyranitar—Power-Up Punch!"
"Hiyaaaaaa!!" Tyranitar roared, his fists flaring orange as he attacked with relentless fury.
He charged like a beast, grabbed Regirock by the chest plate, and slammed him down.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!!
Each hit drew a louder roar than the last. The stone giant's armor began to split and crumble—shards of rock falling off with every devastating strike.
Finally, Regirock's movements slowed. The orange lights across its body dimmed one by one until the red glow in its eyes flickered out entirely.
Tyranitar stood breathing heavily, chest heaving, but victorious.
Samuel raised his flag. "Regirock is unable to battle! The winner is Tyranitar!"
Max jumped up. "Gary's Tyranitar is unbelievable! It's too strong!"
May clasped her hands. "Yes, that Tyranitar's combination of strength, spirit, and explosive potential is remarkable. Simply magnificent!"
Professor Oak smiled slightly, pride flickering in his eyes. At this rate, he thought silently, Gary's top-tier Pokémon could rival the world's strongest within two years.
Gary turned his gaze back across the field calmly. "That's one down," he muttered under his breath.
Brandon gave a small approving nod and raised another Poké Ball. "You've earned my respect, Gary. But this battle is far from over."
He threw the next ball forward. "Go—Registeel!"
In a burst of metallic light, another towering Legend took the field—a hulking body of silvery steel, gleaming under the artificial lights of the Battle Pyramid. Its orange dots blinked in sequence like a mechanical rhythm, and its heavy steps made clanging echoes through the arena.
"Regiiiisteel…" it droned, its voice metallic and cold.
