I Go to the High Seas for Fishing But Get Hunted by an Aircraft Carrier
Chapter 702: There's Still a Surveillance Area on the First Floor
"Does someone else have control?"
"Exactly, understand this, this location is of utmost importance, and also, it is the heart of the entire building. If one truly wishes to control this building, or rather, control certain matters, then this is the first place that they will seek to control. Therefore, no matter who it is, they must find a way to maintain and manage relations here."
"Buddy Ye Chen, if you put it that way, it seems like it really is the case."
"That's why we can't rush this matter. Right now, there's no need for me to expose that team leader. The first thing I need to do is thoroughly understand the haunting incidents that have occurred these past few days. We don't need to worry about anything else. Naturally, they will show their true colors."
"Alright, Buddy Ye Chen, if that's the case, then I'll leave this matter to you. Tell me what you need me to do, or is there anything specific I need to assist you with?"
"You don't need to do anything, don't do anything at all. If you do too much, it would be like startling the snake in the grass. Currently, to these company people, I am still a newcomer, a stranger; they probably don't know what my real purpose is."
"That's right, because before, at the conference, you had mentioned that a new person would be installed, someone invited from another province, without any mention of a relationship with our family."
"Yes, precisely for this reason, I can go even deeper into this matter. You've spent enough time here already, go back to your post. We'll keep in touch if necessary."
"Got it, no problem."
"Ah, by the way, where's Anying? After all this time, I haven't seen Anying around. I asked Uncle Ada before, and he said that Anying was arranged properly. Where is she now?"
"I'm not sure where she is. Otherwise, just give her a call, and then, ask her to come over. I think having Anying by your side will make things much smoother when you perform certain tasks."
"Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Here I am, fighting alone, surrounded by enemies – how am I supposed to proceed?"
While speaking, Ye Chen took out his phone and dialed Anying's number.
"Anying, where are you?"
"Oh, I'm right here in the lobby on the first floor."
"What? In the lobby on the first floor? What are you doing there?"
"Of course, I'm here safeguarding the security of this building."
"Why would they assign you to the lobby on the first floor?"
"I don't know, because there's a small surveillance room here on the first floor, and currently, I'm in charge of this surveillance room."
"A surveillance room in the lobby on the first floor? How come I didn't know about this?"
"Oh, there is one."
He said, looking up at Guo Hongyu with confusion.
He had thought that everything was central to his own floor; unexpectedly, there was also a surveillance room on the first floor.
"Alright, put aside whatever you're working on for now and come up to speak with me; there are some matters I wish to discuss with you."
"Oh, okay, got it. I'll come right now. By the way, which floor are you on?"
"I'm at the very top offices on the 15th floor. When you arrive, tell them I sent for you, and they will open the door for you."
"Alright, I know. Wait for me; I'll be there right away."
After saying that, Anying hung up the phone.
"What exactly is that surveillance room on the first floor used for?"
"I didn't understand it before either, but later, I learned that it was initially there for the cameras on the roadside, at the entrance to the building, and the back of the elevator area – there are three cameras. They are among the earliest batch of cameras, and when connected back then, they were wired directly to the first floor's guard station, since that made monitoring more convenient."
"So, are you saying that these camera placements cannot be seen from the 15th floor?"
"Right, they should be unseen. Those cameras are quite old, and I've heard that they use an analog signal which can't be integrated with the new digital signals, so for many years, it's been managed separately."
Hearing this, Ye Chen slightly furrowed his brows, feeling that this was a significant security flaw for them.
In this building, aside from the upper and lower floors, the most important spots should be the back passageway and the front entrance.
To place these critical entrances under the monitoring of just a small room on the first floor was a grave mistake.
However, Ye Chen still found it hard to understand – couldn't any person in the past have pointed out such an obvious issue?
"How is it, has no one ever suggested reintegrating these two circuits? And with your current technical level, even replacing a few cameras and integrating them into the existing circuitry wouldn't be difficult, right? It could even be done easily in a morning."
"Essentially, yes, that's true, but we never thought that much about it. The key issue is that what we are in charge of isn't related to security at all. In the past, those responsible for security have never raised such a requirement."
"That means this issue isn't as straightforward as we might think, do you understand now? If it were just one term without resolution, it would be excusable. But if it's been overlooked by several supervisors over consecutive terms, then there must be someone obstructing it from the inside."
"Obstructing it? What do you mean?"
"Let me put it this way, no matter who is in charge of security, when they come in, the higher ups will definitely pressure them about this issue, making sure they sidestep it specifically. Thus, we can deduce which of the higher ups may be involved."
"Then, now that you've arrived, would they use the same tactics on you? Otherwise, any competent security person would immediately see that this is a major fault."
