I Go to the High Seas for Fishing But Get Hunted by an Aircraft Carrier
Chapter 827: Anying's Preparations Are Complete
"Don't worry, even if it sprayed poison just now, unless it sprayed directly onto his face, because the face is the only area that hasn't been targeted elsewhere, it won't cause him any harm."
After hearing Anying's explanation, the two standing there finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"How should we handle this situation?"
"A poisonous snake won't be of any use to us, so let's leave it to blend into the land gradually. Let's keep moving forward. By the way, how far have we gone now?"
"In terms of time, we should be nearing the center of the island by now. We've probably crossed about one-third of the island."
"One-third?"
While talking, Ye Chen raised his wrist to check the time. Nearly two hours had passed since they landed on the island.
In two hours, they covered one-third. If things go smoothly, in about three to four more hours, they might be able to traverse the entire island.
However, that's just a simple traverse. They're only taking the middle path, leaving much unexplored around them. The real challenges lie ahead.
"It's okay, let's keep going. By the way, are you tired? If you are, we could rest here for a bit."
Ye Chen was mainly concerned about Lin Yaru's stamina. After all, Anying was specially trained, so this shouldn't be a big deal for him, and Ye Chen himself was not facing any major issues.
"Actually, there's no need. Earlier, when we rested, I adjusted myself bit by bit, feeling better now. Plus, we're not climbing uphill, just going on flat terrain, so there hasn't been much exertion. We're fine to keep going."
Upon hearing Lin Yaru's words, Ye Chen just nodded. Despite his concerns, timing was tight.
If they couldn't find a resting place before nightfall, they might have to spend the night here.
Finally, they quickened their pace and continued forward.
But after moving forward, they suddenly noticed the trees ahead becoming sparse, unlike the dense forest they had just passed through.
"Did you notice the trees are gradually decreasing now?"
"Yes, I felt that too. Earlier, every few steps would be a tree, but now it's every dozen steps for a big tree. The density is clearly reducing."
"What's this signaling? Are we about to exit the forest?"
"Yes, probably. So if there's open ground ahead, it should be relatively easier for us. If not, it could get harder."
Anying spoke while nodding.
Though the unknowns ahead were daunting, they believed firmly that persistence would ultimately guide them in the right direction.
They progressed for about another half-hour, during which Lin Yaru visibly started struggling.
Since landing on the island, they only paused for about three or four minutes. The rest was constant walking, exhausting for an ordinary person's stamina.
She was panting heavily, feeling stifled by her airtight protective suit.
Wiping the sweat on her forehead, Ye Chen observed her exhaustion keenly.
"Alright, it's time for us to rest. Did you bring water and snacks, maybe some chocolate? We need to replenish our energy."
Speaking, Anying turned to check on Lin Yaru, aware they needed this rest for her sake.
Though equally fatigued, Anying felt capable of pushing on for another two to three hours.
Yet, with Lin Yaru in tow, they had to take better care, so they decided to find a large stone to rest on.
Anying opened his backpack, taking out various foods and vitamin drinks.
"Wow, I thought you only brought water, but it's all functional drinks?"
"Yes, functional drinks are better for our physical recovery and endurance. We can use these now but in the long term, we'll need to find a resting spot nearby."
"Yes, I forgot about this. If there's no water here, we'll die of thirst."
"Usually, on this island, water shouldn't be a major issue. Worst case, we could go to the sea for water."
"You're joking. Humans can't consume large amounts of sea water. It's harmful."
"Rest assured, I won't have you directly drink it. I brought a sea water filter, which turns seawater into fresh water, so that's one less worry."
