I Got Isekai’d, Well Shyt!
Vol.5 Chapter294 You Have the Guild’s Backing, Your Highness
Hajdah, and Laika both had grins on their faces as they enjoyed witnessing Rya pull off incredible feats while playing it off as if she didn't do anything.
While at the same time, Lady Saffron couldn't believe how fast Rya was able to find new mages from the most unlikely place. They assumed that commoners were a unlikely source for finding new mages, but she wanted to go back to her sister's domain to find these neglected portions of the Kingdom to grow the amount of students for her Academy.
Grand Master Fennic had a similar thought pattern as Saffron. All this time he thought that mages were on the decline before of all the failed tests from prominent families. He didn't think about looking for mages in commoner villages, and the Grand Master wanted to smack himself for not thinking about it.
'How can I not think of doing such an obvious thing like this? Wait! With Rya, we can find everyone who is born with mage veins! I didn't know that what aloud us to use the arcane in the first place! Why was this knowledge lost to the ages? Who did this?' Grand Master Fennic was starting to feel very frustrated at the fact that he and Lady Saffron didn't know the most basic of knowledge about what made a mage, a mage.
'I was wrong about the Crown Prince... He's brought us the most precious person to this kingdom... He needs to marry her! And if the nobles get in the way of the Royal Family then they'll have to deal with the Mage's Guild. I'll make sure of it.' Fennic's thoughts were focused on the Dark Elf, and he walked over to the Crown Prince who was enjoying the show.
"Huh?... Yes, Grand Master?" Quinus didn't even notice that Fennic was beside him, and his gaze was focused on fiancee who was smiling brightly as she helped Mary perform magic once again.
"I... I know I can be a stubborn old fool, Your Highness... And I held on to this grudge for far too long... But I want to say, that I'm truly sorry for everything I've done over these past eleven years... The Mage's Guild supports your marriage of Princess Rya... If anyone of the nobles gives you trouble, just tell me and their access to our resources will be revoked... So, I hope that you can forgive my transgressions, and let bygones be bygones," Fennic whispered in the Prince's ear.
Quinus looked at the Grand Master's sincere look, 'Rya, you've done it again. I'm going to have extra fun with her tonight. But I should give Fennic an answer,' he turned his gaze to the older man.
"Fennic, I'm not the type to hold a grudge. You were protecting your guild from the nobility and the crown, and I showed you up as a child. I'm glad that Rya could do what we couldn't and now the guild will become an even bigger powerhouse," Quinus' voice was calm, and the Grand Master felt like he was speaking to his king.
"The Meredydd family will be a force to be reckoned with once you're on the throne, Your Highness... But what you must realize is, the nobles will do anything in their power to stay in control. You'll need allies," Fennic's words were a warning.
"I know, Fennic. Rya and I are making plans. Don't worry. The nobles won't get in the way of me being with my fiancee. But having the backing of the Mage's Guild will help. And we won't forget your support," Quinus nodded.
"That's good to hear, Your Highness," the Grand Master was feeling a bit better, and he turned his gaze to the largest haul of new mages.
"You're very lucky, Your Highness. Princess Rya is a blessing from the goddess. And you should treat her well. If I hear about you doing something that is disrespectful to her—"
"I know, Fennic, the entire guild will hunt me down, and the Meredydd family will lose the Mage's Guild as an ally," Quinus cut him off.
"I wasn't going to go that far, Your Highness... But the Princess has our respect and loyalty. And any man who disrespects her will face the consequences," Fennic's voice had a dangerous edge.
Quinus was a little shocked by the Grand Master's tone.
"I know the feeling, because I'll kill whoever disrespects her," Quinus said firmly.
The Grand Master was satisfied by the young prince's response.
"I don't know why I ever thought of you as a spoiled brat... I'm letting my biases get the better of me," the Grand Master shook his head.
Quinus smiled, "We all make are mistakes, Grand Master... As long as we learn from them, and I think you just learned something," Quinus gave him a knowing smile.
The Grand Master couldn't help but laugh at the prince's comment.
"Yes, I've learned far more than I ever imagined, Your Highness... Just don't start any unnecessary wars. Not all of us have access to a healer who can regrown someone's limbs and not break a sweat doing it," the Grand Master shook his head.
"That was just a taste of her skills, Fennic. But you're right, Rya isn't someone I can afford to lose... But I fear that some wars are coming to us," Quinus said.
Fennic looked at the Prince with a raised brow, "Our you talking about the Holy Alliance? Or are you assuming something?"
Quinus' face became grim.
"The Holy Alliance is about to find out that Rya is trying to marry me. And they will want to purge her, and I won't let them. If they threaten us, I'll burn their kingdoms to the ground..."
Fennic nodded, "Well, if Princess Rya finds me more Fire Mages then I can help you with burning them down... Or if she finds more Water Mages then we can drown them," Fennic smirked.
Quin held back his laughter because he knew that Fennic wasn't fully joking.
"I appreciate the offer but war will be coming in weeks to months. Not years..."
"That's a pity. Because I was really looking forward to drowning those bastards," Fennic laughed.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Grand Master," Quinus laughed.
"Yeah, your right. I'm starting to see that you and the princess will do great things for the kingdom... When do you think she'll be able to test other people's mana veins?" Fennic asked.
"Things are getting busy for my Cousin's Coming of Age Party... If things aren't too hectic. She should have time on Monday to test the new applicants," Quinus explained.
Fennic nodded.
"Alright, I'll spread the word and I'll gather all the orphans first. And we'll come up with a plan to test the rest of the citizens," Fennic stated.
"I'll reach out to Lord Brice to help you on that front," Quinus informed.
"Perfect. I will escort, Princess Rya to the Guild Library at once and let her have full reign over the library," Fennic informed.
"Thanks, Grand Master," Quinus replied.
"It's the least I can do, Your Highness. After all, you're the future King," Fennic laughed.
"And it took you until now to realize that? How surprising, Fennic," Quinus teased.
"You know, Sire, if you weren't the future king. I would have thrown a waterball at your royal ass," Fennic shot back.
"That the Fennic I'm used to," Quinus joked.
Fennic smirked then shook his head before walking over to Rya who was surrounded by all the children.
"Hey, Ma'am! Where did you get that thing!?" A boy with a mage vein asked.
"Can you make another one for me!?" A girl with an earth vein begged.
"Can you teach us your spell, Princess?" Another girl with an air vein asked.
"Hey, hey, hey... Stop crowding the Princess!... Where has all your decorum gone?" Sister Selena scolded.
"But it's the Princess! Sister Selena!" A girl with a water vein pleaded.
"Enough of that! You might be Mages or Majas now but you must treat our guests with respect!" Selena barked.
The children all bowed their heads in shame.
"Thank you, Sister. The children just wanted to learn my magic. That's all. And you'll learn how to do that in the future. Once you all go to the academy," Rya replied.
"Princess Rya, my people will take of the 12 young mages from here. I'm sure your knights will take care of the other children," Fennic stated.
"Now, wait a minute. The church is very capable of caring for them, Sir Fennic," Father Simeon protested.
"Father Simeon, you have done your part but these children will have an easier time learning from the academy. They can help each other grow stronger," Fennic responded.
"But they aren't getting adopted and you'll be sending them away," Father Simeon replied.
"The ones with mana veins will be adopted once word gets out. But if nobles or rich families wish to adopt a Mage or Maja, then they must adopt one or two of the common children frist," Rya answered.
All the orphans were excited about being adopted by a noble or a wealthy family.
"That's a interesting idea, Princess... I'll make sure to tell my sister about this proposal. No one should be cast aside for having a common level Mana Vein. I hope you can come north to test the children in the Frostweald Domain. Finding local children for my Academy is quite difficult," Saffron stated.
Rya was shocked, "Well, I would love to visit, but I fear that the Prime Minister will try to keep me out from coming back into the capital," Rya admitted.
"Then he has lost the Baroness's support. I will inform my sister that Marquess Duval will weaken the Kingdom's foundation if he continues to isolate you. I can't guarantee that my sister can sway the other Major Houses to side with us, but the Baroness won't stand idly by and let this injustice continue. I will speak to her at once," Saffron declared.
"Thank you, Lady Saffron," Rya said gratefully.
"And you have the Mage's Guild as your ally, too," Fennic hoped in.
"Thank you, Grand Master Fennic," Rya said.
Sister Selena had an annoyed look on her face, "But of there's no children in the orphanage. Then what will I do? How will I run the orphanage?" she asked.
"Sister Selena, we are here to help the children find a caring home. And we will need to weed out those who want these children for their own personal gain," Sister Thalia answered.
Selena thought about it and she nodded, "I have to agree. If we allow just anyone to adopt these children, then who knows what their true intentions are," Selena stated.
"And unfortunate things still happen, Sister Selena. Just because these children will be finding house doesn't mean that there won't be anymore orphans," Father Simeon explained.
"That's true, but maybe there won't be so many," Selena answered.
"You're right, Sister Selena. So, let's make sure to do the best we can for the children. This is a blessing, and it should be handled accordingly," Sister Thalia advised.
"Indeed, thank you again, Favored One... I questioned your logic and I let my biases blind me. Please forgive my shortcomings," FatherSimeon begged.
Rya looked at him and the two priestesses and smiled, "It's okay, Father Simeon. I understand why you would think that way. Just make sure to spread the good word about me to the others running orphanages throughout the Kingdom. I'm sure that I will be visiting them all in the coming weeks. I can't stay here long, after all. There is still much that I have to do," Rya explained.
"Of course. I will inform the others at once," Father Simeon promised.
"Speaking of which, I'll bring you to the library now," Fennic said.
"Oh?... I need to do one thing first before we go," Rya said as she walked over to Nieren who had Elaine, Sid, and Mary next gathered by her.
"Of course, Princess. I'll be waiting here," Fennic said.
