CHAPTER 1236: CHAPTER 292: I SURRENDER, I WANT TO GO TO PRISON_2
"What do you want?"
As Lin Fan approached, Qin Ling couldn’t help but retreat continuously until he reached the corner of the wall, with nowhere else to go.
"I’m taking you to see Officer Huang. If Officer Huang decides you can live, then you can live. It’s all up to you, so don’t be afraid; Officer Huang is not a bad person."
Lin Fan tried to reassure them, even though he knew it was futile, he still had to say it.
Not a bad person?
In Qin Ling’s eyes, Officer Huang was like a living Hades. If he and Professor Jin fell into his hands, it would be impossible to stay alive.
"I’ll fight you!"
Realizing there was no retreat, Qin Ling knew that to survive, he had to take action and maybe still have a slim chance of life.
Alas, his fists seemed so feeble in Lin Fan’s eyes. Without a second thought, Lin Fan hoisted Qin Ling’s hefty body onto his shoulder.
The sight left Professor Jin stunned and speechless, exclaiming in terror as if seeing a ghost.
He knew the state of his boss. Although no match for Lin Fan, it couldn’t be that easy to be captured, just like a child from kindergarten being beaten by an adult, having no chance to retaliate.
While he pondered these things.
Lin Fan walked towards Professor Jin, who obediently offered no resistance and even actively climbed onto Lin Fan’s shoulder.
Professor Jin watched his boss’s struggle with a heavy heart, feeling that all the research they had done was laughable. When they discovered surprises from the zombies, they were equally thrilled, but what of it? All their achievements turned out to be so ridiculous.
"Let’s go. You’ll see Officer Huang soon."
Lin Fan turned and left with them on his shoulders.
By now, Qin Ling clearly understood that no matter how much he struggled, it was utterly useless.
"Lin Fan, give me a chance, will you?" Qin Ling steadied his panicked heart, hoping to negotiate with him and thus be released. Otherwise, he knew once they reached Officer Huang, there truly would be no more chances.
Lin Fan replied, "Did you give them a chance?"
"There was no other option. Everything I did was only to uncover the truth of the zombie virus. My dream is to return the world to its former state," Qin Ling eagerly explained.
Professor Jin, hoisted on the other shoulder, rolled his eyes. Amazing, this ability to lie with open eyes is something most people can’t match.
"Do you take me for a fool?" Lin Fan was clearly displeased.
Qin Ling fell silent. It was indeed true; anyone hearing this would feel like a fool. Yet, even so, he stubbornly insisted.
"Everything I said is true."
Lin Fan shook his head, ignored him, and quickened his pace towards where Officer Huang was.
The wind howled as Professor Jin, carried on his shoulder, felt a chill; this way of traveling was beyond his imagination, with a speed terrifyingly fast.
With such speed, anywhere reached swiftly.
"Lin Fan, can I ask you something?" Professor Jin, silent until now, spoke up.
"Go ahead."
Lin Fan’s expression remained calm. What he had decided, no matter what they said, wouldn’t change his mind.
Professor Jin asked, "How exactly did you evolve to this extent? Even an Awakener couldn’t possibly be like this."
He had researched Awakeners.
Even if Awakeners could enhance their abilities by using crystals, reaching this level was absolutely impossible because enhancing required crystals, and even the Creator didn’t have such capabilities, so how could an Awakener?
A desperate Qin Ling also perked up to listen.
He too wanted to know.
Even in death, he wanted to die with clarity.
"You want to know, right?"
"Yes, we really want to know."
Professor Jin and Qin Ling were the most eager to know,
Lin Fan said, "Alright, then I’ll tell you why I’m so powerful. It’s because I have hope and visions for the future in my heart. Even if darkness engulfs me, I will fight to tear open a rift and chase after the light. This belief and persistence are the very foundation supporting my strength."
Qin Ling: ...?
Professor Jin: ...?
They were utterly bewildered, wondering if this was something a human could actually say.
"Is this supposed to be amusing?" Professor Jin asked. "I find it meaningless. If you don’t want to say, then don’t, but why mock me?"
Qin Ling added, "Afraid of others finding out the secret of your evolution, huh? I don’t think you’re as you claim."
Lin Fan said, "Believe what you will. When your heart is full of light, you become an unbeatable existence, and no challenge can defeat you."
"Is this how you spin tall tales? The Awakeners who follow you only hear such things from you every day?" Qin Ling, knowing there was no hope, completely let go, wantonly mocking Lin Fan.
Lin Fan laughed, "No, it’s just to fill their hearts with strength. At the Sunshine Shelter, there are plenty of crystals—countless enough for their use and enhancement."
Qin Ling: ...
Professor Jin: ...
They understood Lin Fan’s strength—any zombie before him was just a joke. Whatever kind of crystal desired was obtainable, ensuring happiness for those Awakeners.
