I Have a Date with a Thousand-year-old Female Corpse
Chapter 1365 River Styx
CHAPTER 1365: CHAPTER 1365 RIVER STYX
You rushed to the Merman King’s side, the blue flames on the Ming Ye Sword easily shattered the Absolute Ice Wall it created. As an advanced monster, the Merman King possessed considerable intelligence as well, casting three Absolute Ice Walls in succession while retreating far away.
Just as you swung your sword to break the Absolute Ice Walls one by one, the Merman King discarded its Bone Sword, raised its hands, and loudly chanted a long incantation.
"Yun, it’s about to cast a spell, be careful!"
Zhao’er lightly waved the magic wand, sending three white light arrows shooting toward the Merman King, who was still reciting the incantation.
However, you were still a beat too late. Suddenly, the Merman King radiated with light, and a massive wave roared, engulfing the path you had carved through the water in an instant. Seeing the giant wave rushing toward you, you hurriedly retreated, at the critical moment, throwing the White Shadow into your pet space, while Zhao’er simultaneously placed Xia Xue into her pet space.
In the instant the giant wave swept over, you suddenly embraced Zhao’er and kissed her cherry lips firmly.
"All of this is an illusion!"
Despite saying this, you and Zhao’er were still swept into the River Styx, and you held onto Zhao’er tightly. As the waves calmed down, you and Zhao’er were still embracing each other.
As you said, everything was an illusion, now you and Zhao’er found yourselves in a corner of the River Styx, with water created by illusion. Inside the river, you could breathe freely.
You slowly released Zhao’er, discovering strange-shaped Ghost Fish continuously wandering around. In the River Styx, there were also occasionally some high-level Soul Devourer Fallen Ones, quasi-Boss level monsters around Level 78. They had no physical bodies, yet wore extremely stylish armor with weapons that burned with black flames, holding longswords in their hands.
"Zhao’er, can you still use the spell that conceals our presence?" You asked Zhao’er.
"I’ll try." As the white light emanated from Zhao’er’s body, all the surrounding creatures immediately shifted their gaze toward you.
"Stop there."
You hurriedly called her to stop, not wanting to become a meal for this group of monsters.
Watching the monsters drifting back and forth, you sighed and said, "Looks like we’ll have to fight our way through step by step."
So you and Zhao’er fought and walked, the Ming Ye Sword in your hand and Zhao’er’s holy element spells both restrained the Dead Spirits. With your combined efforts, you fought through the River Styx, taking nearly two hours to reach a gigantic stone archway. Within the stone door was darkness so deep you couldn’t see your hand in front of you.
You didn’t pause, leading Zhao’er directly into the stone door.
The journey filled you with gloom; the monsters in the River Styx rarely dropped equipment, and many didn’t even have potions. They perished, turning into energy absorbed by the Ming Ye Sword, truly "born naked, die clean."
Fortunately, having Zhao’er, a holy element mage, with you, each time she cast healing magic on you, it produced twice the results with half the effort.
After entering the stone door, you discovered that water still flowed here, and two more Soul Devourer Fallen Ones appeared ahead.
Earlier, you and Zhao’er fought while moving, often having to detour to avoid the Soul Devourer Fallen Ones. These creatures had a particularly troublesome skill called "Low-level Invalid Resonance."
Your attacks with the Ming Ye Sword only had twenty percent effectiveness on it, with the remaining eighty percent absorbed by the surrounding environment. You and Zhao’er struggled greatly to kill one, but now two appeared. You thought about calling the White Shadow, but there was no response from the pet space, and Zhao’er’s White Lion was also out of contact with her.
With no choice but to proceed, you sighed, wielding the Ming Ye Sword, preparing to charge forward.
"Yun, wait."
"What’s the matter?" you asked, turning around.
"Try this," Zhao’er said, drawing a small circle with her magic wand, "Holy Light can attract these Dead Spirits, so why not create a few to lure them away?"
You nodded in agreement, and Zhao’er drew several circles in different positions behind you. Then, you both walked out of the stone door, drawing a large circle far away from the door.
Hiding alongside Zhao’er, she began reciting a spell. In her incantation, several circles emitted white light, with the innermost being the weakest and the outermost large circle radiating strongly. Just as Zhao’er planned, many monsters, including the two Soul Devourer Fallen Ones, were attracted to the light, gradually leaving the stone door and drifting toward the large circle.
"Let’s go." Holding Zhao’er, you immediately slipped inside the stone door. The world within was dark, lacking any light, yet it was sparsely populated with monsters, allowing you to travel unimpeded.
The deeper you went, the more convoluted the labyrinth became. Upon turning a corner, several passages appeared ahead, each projecting an indistinguishable feeling that any one of them could lead to the exit.
"Zhao’er, throw some magic light bombs at those passages to test."
"Okay." With a turn of her magic wand, a flicker of Holy Light sent several white light bombs shooting into the passages. However, the bombs vanished into the darkness without a trace, as if swallowed by the void.
You furrowed your brow, musing, "This is troubling."
"I have an idea."
Zhao’er approached one of the rock walls of a passage and gently placed her hand on it.
At that moment, you saw a halo radiating outward from Zhao’er’s hand in concentric circles.
The halo continued to expand as Zhao’er slowly closed her eyes, blending her Divine Sense into the light. After probing several passages, Zhao’er pointed to the third passage from the right and announced, "This is the one with an exit."
You nodded, stepping ahead of Zhao’er.
Walking for only a short while, you suddenly shouted, "Watch out!"
In an instant, several Earth Spurs sprung up from the ground. You grabbed Zhao’er, narrowly escaping them. Before you could steady yourself, more Earth Spurs erupted from the ground, along with some from the rock walls, sharp enough to be fatal.
"Damn, I can’t see the bastard!"
The monster was well-hidden, leaving you unable to find its body, so you focused on evading quickly.
Ordinarily, you could handle these alone, but Zhao’er’s presence caused a slight delay in your speed. Frustratingly, the Earth Spurs were not only fast but also quite damaging. In a moment of carelessness, one pierced through your thigh shockingly.
"Tusk Slash!" With a flash of Ming Ye through the darkness, the Earth Spurs were sliced away like vegetables. Dragging your bloody wound, you retreated to the side.
When you pulled the Earth Spur out, Zhao’er hurriedly healed the wound with Holy Light. To her surprise, the exaggerated wound began healing itself at a speed many times faster than her treatment!
"Watch out!" You slashed away the Earth Spurs protruding from the rock wall, telling Zhao’er, "Now’s not the time to be in a daze. I’ll explain when we’re in a safe place."
"Zhao’er, step back."
