I Have A Dual World Seal
Chapter 434 Modern Archaeologist
CHAPTER 434: CHAPTER 434 MODERN ARCHAEOLOGIST
The boatman looked at Lu Zheng with a bewildered face.
Lin Wan, her beautiful eyes wide open, also looked at Lu Zheng in shock.
"Oh my! It’s raining!" Lu Zheng took a sharp breath, "How magical is this?"
The boatman breathed a sigh of relief, then looked up at the sky which was much gloomier than before, shook his head, and said, "In all these years, the weather forecast has hardly ever been accurate, it’s just unbelievable."
This drizzling fine rain didn’t really require an umbrella or raincoat, so the boatman didn’t mind, continuing to row the boat while explaining to the two of them.
The boatman was easily fooled, but Lin Wan was not that easy to deceive, let alone knowing her man’s abilities herself, especially since Lu Zheng’s performance just now was really too extravagant!
Patting Lu Zheng, as he turned around, Lin Wan stared at him without speaking.
Lu Zheng smiled and held Lin Wan, "Touring West Lake is all about this fine misty rain, experiencing this misty and hazy Jiangnan scenery."
This sentence was equivalent to an admission.
Lin Wan couldn’t help but sigh, able to summon wind and rain, yet still claiming not to be an immortal?
Relaxing, they followed the boatman and circled around West Lake, then returned to the same pier where they had just boarded.
As the hand-rowed boat just docked, the misty rain suddenly stopped.
"Hey? It’s really miraculous!" The boatman was also very surprised, "Your luck is out of this world, but just a bit off, it didn’t start raining right when you got on the boat."
Lu Zheng laughed heartily, "Life is about small fulfillments, no need to seek perfection."
The boatman gave a thumbs up, "You have a real outlook."
...
Getting off the boat to continue strolling, though Lin Wan had almost lost interest in touring West Lake.
"You can actually summon the wind and rain now?"
"Please, I’m flattered!"
"Flattered about what! How powerful is your wind and rain summoning?"
Lin Wan’s words didn’t stop.
"What’s the coverage area? Any prerequisites required? How intense is the rain? How long can it sustain?"
Lu Zheng, "..."
"Are you preparing to make me a human rain machine?" Lu Zheng muttered in disbelief.
Lin Wan paused, then furrowed her brow, speaking worriedly, "Sorry, I just..."
"It’s nothing."
Lu Zheng patted Lin Wan’s hand, "I understand you, grain is a national priority. I’ll help where I can, but my cultivation is still low. I can’t perform large-scale, long-lasting rain yet, but if there’s a severe drought anywhere this year, I’ll go and help."
Now that I’ve mastered the "Wind and Rain Flying Immortal," with my current over four hundred years of Dao practice, it’s not for fighting, just ordinary rain summoning, enough to gather clouds and conjure qi over a range of dozens of miles and make it drizzle.
The bragging I did with Liu Qingyan actually came true, and clearly, another can be fulfilled within this year.
It’s just... unbelievable!
"You’re really good —"
Lin Wan, holding onto Lu Zheng, said softly, "I was selfish. Does it consume a lot and harm your essence to cast spells like this?"
Lu Zheng raised an eyebrow, "Am I such a selfless, sacrificing person?"
Lin Wan smiled sweetly, lifted her head, and kissed Lu Zheng on the cheek, "You are!"
Four male students, who looked like college students, passed by quickly, listening yet ignoring.
But the keen hearing of Lu Zheng and Lin Wan could catch their words from afar.
"Damn, getting fed a mouthful of dog food."
"So pretty, and so clingy, I’m dying of jealousy!"
"That guy isn’t even as handsome as me, why don’t I have such a pretty girlfriend?"
"Fa Hai! Grant me a Lady Bai!"
...
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan exchanged a smile and ignored the lamentations of the singles, continuing their stroll along the West Lake shore.
They passed by Yue King Temple, visited Lingyin Temple, saw Leifeng Pagoda, and walked along Su Dike Road.
Then, strolling all the way, they wandered to the antique trading area at the corner of West Lake.
Though called antiques, there were no fools anymore, it was all sorts of modern artworks and various imitation antiques.
Stores, carts, stalls, all were present.
Maybe because times had progressed, no one gets tricked anymore, not even bothering to fake aging, it was all brand-new items.
"With my eyesight, if there were real antiques, I’d definitely be able to spot them."
"I believe you!" Lin Wan nodded.
"But there really aren’t any!" Lu Zheng sighed, "Not even fakes anymore."
Lin Wan giggled, "This shows good city management."
Lu Zheng shook his head, "Boring, not even a chance to score a bargain."
The two continued to browse down the street.
Actually, some stores did have genuine items, but they were mostly copper coins or insignificant items from civilian kilns, and the prices were exorbitant, selling fakes as real.
The items weren’t appealing, nor was there any chance for a breakeven, so Lu Zheng wasn’t interested in collecting them either.
But just as the two were leaving a seemingly quiet store, they happened to pass by two backpackers.
"Hmm?" Lu Zheng sniffed, his brows immediately furrowing.
"What is it?" Lin Wan quickly noticed something was off about Lu Zheng and turned back to ask.
"We have a situation." Lu Zheng said.
Lin Wan narrowed her eyes, pulling Lu Zheng to stop at a stall at the entrance, looking at the items while whispering, "Those two people just now, are suspicious?"
Lu Zheng nodded, "There’s freshly unearthed stuff in the backpack."
Lin Wan’s eyes narrowed.
Freshly unearthed stuff, isn’t that tomb artifacts?
"I’ll make a call." Lin Wan said, then looked up at the store, "This shop should have issues too."
Lu Zheng nodded.
This shop took up considerable space but was in an out-of-the-way location, with few and expensive items inside, and the boss greeted them in a very perfunctory and cold manner.
How does such a store survive?
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan didn’t go far, instead stopping a short distance away, diagonally across from the store.
Lin Wan didn’t call 110 directly, but first called the Hai City Bureau, explained the situation on her side, and then got directly connected to the major crimes unit of the Hang City Bureau.
An internal tip-off suggested there might be a major tomb robbery case, so the entire first squad of the major crimes unit was dispatched, and they quickly arrived nearby in plain clothes.
"Comrade Lin Wan!" The visitor was a stout man appearing to be in his forties.
He first greeted Lin Wan, nodded towards Lu Zheng, and introduced himself, "Gong Jian Country, leader of the first squad of Hang City’s major crimes unit."
"Hello!" Lin Wan shook hands with Gong Jian Country, then introduced Lu Zheng and whispered, "Those two people entered this shop an hour ago and still haven’t come out."
Gong Jian Country nodded and then, somewhat troubled, said, "If those two come out with something, we can stop and check them, but if they leave the items in the store... we’ll need a search warrant."
Gong Jian Country looked at Lin Wan, "Comrade Lin, are you sure they are archaeologists, truly carrying freshly unearthed tomb artifacts?"
Lin Wan nodded solemnly, "I’m sure! If anything goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility!"
