I Have A Dual World Seal
Chapter 520: Going to the Northeast to Stroke Cats
CHAPTER 520: CHAPTER 520: GOING TO THE NORTHEAST TO STROKE CATS
Faced with the death of a Japanese media tycoon, which should have been a difficult matter to resolve, the two handled it with ease.
"Feels like there’s nothing left in this world that requires us to solve with effort." Lu Zheng said with a calm face.
"Is that so?" Lin Wan turned back, and lightly replied, "Common prosperity?"
"Cough cough!"
"Destroy global nuclear weapons?"
Lu Zheng said helplessly, "Are you trying to start World War III?"
"Punish **?"
"Big sis, I was wrong, can we talk about things that are actually achievable?"
"Is that so? But it was you who said nothing needs your effort to solve anymore, right?" Lin Wan teased with a smile.
Lu Zheng raised his hands in surrender, "Just in time for the holiday, let’s go celebrate."
With Itoh Daisuke out of the way, and the future secured, Lin Wan’s mood brightened, "Alright, where to?"
Besides work, Lin Wan hardly cared about other matters, and most outings were decided by Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng immediately smiled, "Don’t you like petting cats? This time, let’s go pet big cats."
Lin Wan’s eyes lit up, "Where?"
"Far East, Outer Xing’an Ridge, how about we go find the Northeast Tiger?"
This was something Lu Zheng had planned for a while. If conditions were right, Lu Zheng could have brought a Tiger Demon over from ancient times.
"Great great great!" Lin Wan was overjoyed, "Wandashan No.1? When do we go?"
"Let’s eat supper first and show ourselves under the surveillance cameras," Lu Zheng said with a smile, "We’ll start early tomorrow morning."
"Flying there?" Lin Wan raised an eyebrow.
Lu Zheng snapped his fingers, "Get your outdoor gear ready, we don’t need a guide."
"Alright!"
...
When the two returned to Hai City, it was nearing midnight, but the nightlife there was just starting.
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan had no interest in going to bars or nightclubs; they just went to a night market barbecue.
Drinking and eating meat, they casually posted a nine-grid collage to their social media, drawing dozens of angry comments.
Perfect!
...
On the next day, Lin Wan received news from the International Criminal Police Organization Hai City Liaison Office.
"Itoh Daisuke suffered a sudden heart attack and fell into a coma; a cigarette dropped, causing a fire that burned down three rooms including his bedroom, where he burned to death."
Lin Wan quickly spotted a blind spot, "Why was he at home and not at the Police Headquarters?"
The director, "..."
"If he hadn’t died, I would protest to the Interpol headquarters." Director Tian Jingsong replied helplessly, "But coincidentally, he burned to death, so pursuing it further is pointless. Moreover..."
Lin Wan sneered, "Moreover, Interpol is just a coordination organization; we still belong to our respective countries, what’s the use of protesting?"
"We need to at least show our stance, also the Japanese schools in Hai City continue with reforms, and other schools in the country need to undergo supervision too."
Lin Wan snorted coldly, "That’s just the most basic thing, isn’t it."
"No, there was no reason before, this was earned with your life, no one is a fool." Tian Jingsong said, "That’s why they’ve awarded you a second-class merit, just don’t think it’s beneath you."
"Second-class merit!?"
Lin Wan raised her voice two notches, "I’m not thinking it’s beneath me, how could I?"
It’s noteworthy that Lin Wan’s father died in service early in his career, never achieving a second-class merit, so she exceeded him.
So Lin Wan grinned like a happy puppy, "When will it be announced? Should I give a speech on stage?"
Tian Jingsong replied helplessly, "Don’t worry, they’ll give you a big red flower for photos, with top leaders giving you the award, and posing for pictures, okay?"
"Okay!" Lin Wan expressed her satisfaction.
"The award will be presented during the commendation meeting on the fifth of next month; hopefully, you’ll be back by then."
"No problem!"
Tian Jingsong chuckled, "Alright, go ahead and rest, I’ll grant you three additional days off; more tasks await you later, and we’ll also handle subsequent intelligence processing."
Lin Wan couldn’t help but smile, "This incident wasn’t your fault."
Tian Jingsong shook his head and sighed, "There are always frictions between countries, let alone cooperation between Interpol agencies; none is pure-hearted!"
After conversing a bit, Lin Wan suddenly asked, "Was this Itoh Daisuke really struck by a sudden heart attack?"
Tian Jingsong was taken aback by her question, "Why do you ask?"
Lin Wan shrugged, "It just seemed too coincidental, I thought someone up there couldn’t stand it and avenged me."
"Dream on!"
Tian Jingsong scoffed, "After all, he’s a media mogul, a prominent figure, and we never do such things."
"You know this?"
"Heh, you don’t know where I retired from, do you?"
"Oh, Director, you have a story?"
"Haha, that’s classified!"
The two exchanged a couple more words and then hung up.
Lin Wan struck a victory V-sign, "Done!"
No matter if Tian Jingsong’s call was probing, Lin Wan’s response was nothing short of perfect.
No wonder she’s a criminal investigator, impressive!
"Let’s go let’s go!"
Thinking of going to pet big cats, Lin Wan suddenly grew all bubbly.
"I’m going to pet the big stripey kitty!"
Lu Zheng, "..."
He waved to open the window, vanished, summoned the cloud, and with supplies in tow, flew away swiftly.
The distance from Hai City to Northeast is far greater than to Japan; even Lu Zheng, despite his speed, took half a day to arrive.
All supplies were complete, and they didn’t take planes or high-speed trains, so they didn’t appear in cities or towns at all, but directly flew into the pristine forest.
"It’s just... hard to find..."
In East Hei Province, the primeval forest was blanketed in white snow, with only black and white colors dominating the land and sky, serene and elegant yet teeming with life.
Though they hadn’t spotted a Northeast Tiger, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan revealed themselves and found many other animals instead.
"Look look! A sika deer!"
Lin Wan spotted a sika deer grazing from afar, and before the deer could flee, she dashed over in a breath, pinned it down to prevent escape, and began petting it.
"Why no antlers?"
"Female sika deer have no antlers."
"So it’s a little girl." Lin Wan chuckled and continued petting.
Sika deer, "..."
"Hehe." Lin Wan giggled and then extended a hand towards Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng tapped his gourd and retrieved a large cabbage, handing it to Lin Wan.
Lin Wan plucked off a few leaves and offered them to the sika deer, "Want to eat?"
Eat!
The sika deer munched contently but suddenly froze, shook herself from Lin Wan’s grasp, then darted away quickly.
Lin Wan didn’t chase; instead, she swiftly withdrew the cabbage and turned, her eyes blazing as she looked east.
Lu Zheng smiled, "Though it’s not a big cat, it definitely qualifies for some petting."
