Chapter 19: Ultraman Specializes in Beating Little Monsters
CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: ULTRAMAN SPECIALIZES IN BEATING LITTLE MONSTERS
Sienna Quinn watched as Evan Quinn held a bowl of steaming hangover remedy in his hands. Before Sean Carter took him away, Evan Quinn had already prepared the remedy in the kitchen, keeping it warm over a low flame.
Sienna suddenly remembered the first time Evan made soup for her, which was a year ago.
She had accompanied a client for dinner, drank quite a bit, and returned home reeking of alcohol. She found Evan’s small figure standing on a stool, searching Baidu for the method to make a hangover remedy, brewing his first bowl of soup for her.
At that time, Sienna saw Evan Quinn’s delicate, fair hands covered in blisters, and her heart twitched with pain.
Evan Quinn could finally relax only when he saw Sienna drink the hangover remedy, and he sat beside her.
He said wisely, "Though you are my mommy, can’t you be more careful? You’re always drinking, what if you run into bad people?"
Sienna: "..."
Looking at Evan who was chattering away beside her, Sienna suddenly felt warmth in her heart. She reached out and hugged Evan tightly, burying her head against the little one’s shoulder, breathing in the milky scent he carried.
"Mommy... Are you unhappy?"
Evan said in his soft, childish voice, his chubby hand gently patting Sienna’s head.
Sienna sniffled, her voice somewhat hoarse.
"Thank you for standing up for mommy today. Now, it seems you need to protect me."
Sienna was grateful that she hadn’t taken that pill back then, and Evan Quinn was the only gift Landon Lawson had left for her. At least now, when she feels terrible, she still had a chubby little body to hold.
"Of course, I am mommy’s Ultraman, here to defeat the monsters that bully you."
His voice was full of childlike conviction, waving his small fists.
His soft, boneless hand lightly poked Sienna’s cheek, "Mommy, you look beautiful even when you’re tearful."
...
Bang!
A brand new newspaper was slammed onto the table, reporting yesterday’s embarrassing event under the spotlight.
The pure image built over the years was shattered, and she was even labeled as a temptress.
"Pull down all the news, quickly!"
Vera Yates shouted, her delicate face filled with fury.
The agent stood by, looking displeased, "Why were you so careless with what you did? The image built over the years is entirely destroyed."
Vera’s pale face woke up in a daze, only to see this explosive news.
Though there weren’t any indecent exposures, the bare skin was enough to leave her ashamed.
Her hand trembled uncontrollably, humiliating herself in front of Landon Lawson.
"Sienna Quinn, you bitch, you caused this!"
Her voice was gritting with hatred, wishing to tear Sienna into pieces. The drink was meant for Sienna, but why did she end up being the one affected? It must be Sienna’s trickery.
Recalling how Landon had shielded Sienna from the drink yesterday, her pretty face grew increasingly aggressive, only now she worried whether such an excellent man like Landon could miss the obvious signs?
The cup was brought by her and it went wrong.
This won’t do, she can’t sit idle.
"Isn’t there a way to salvage this? Go issue press releases, hire the internet trolls!"
Vera couldn’t allow herself to be defeated just like this.
Watching the unreasonable woman, the agent frowned slightly, knowing the real side of her better than anyone else. The icy pure image was all a façade.
"I will handle this. Do not stir up any more trouble, refrain from responding or giving interviews. Get yourself together, there’s a shoot soon."
The agent gave a helpless glance at Vera.
After the agent left, Vera sat in the car and went to the set, only to be surrounded by a crowd of journalists as soon as she got out.
The incessant sound of flash photography frayed her nerves.
