CHAPTER 239: CHAPTER 239: THE TWO ON OPPOSITE SIDES

Landon Lawson followed behind her, watching her staggering steps. She preferred to hold onto the wall and walk slowly rather than turn back and ask for his help. Watching the woman almost stumble, his heart skipped a beat, and with a slightly unpleasant expression, he strode forward and scooped Sienna Quinn into his arms.

Sienna cried out in surprise, shouting, "What are you doing?"

"Taking you back," Landon Lawson’s face was terrifyingly cold, his indifferent eyes staring at the person in his arms.

There’s no room for argument!

The man’s eyes were full of an undeniable presence.

"No..."

"Don’t bother saying you don’t need it. I don’t mind sealing your lips in front of everyone." Landon Lawson spoke forcefully and domineeringly.

Sienna’s body trembled; could it be that Landon Lawson really disregarded any laws? When he said sealing her lips, he meant not with his hand... She had discovered in their recent interactions that Landon Lawson was simply unreasonably domineering in this aspect.

Sienna was directly taken home by Landon Lawson; she originally intended to return to the office, but Landon Lawson did not allow her to refuse, and forcibly rejected her.

Upon returning home, Sienna realized why it had been so quiet since yesterday; her phone’s battery was dead, and she didn’t even know.

A charging cable plugged in, the phone started shaking nonstop the moment it was turned on. For three minutes straight, Sienna tried to open her phone, only succeeding once the vibrations stopped, allowing her to review recent calls and messages.

Before she could check the messages one by one, the phone started vibrating again.

It seems Danielle had been trying to reach her for quite a while.

Pressing the answer key, before Sienna could say anything, Danielle’s anxious voice came through, "President Quinn, where did you go last night? I called you so many times, and you didn’t answer; you really scared me."

Yesterday, after Sienna met with that man, Danielle could no longer reach her, worried something might have happened. She went to the agreed-upon restaurant herself, but saw no sign of anyone.

"I drank a little too much yesterday, so I fell asleep early," Sienna coughed lightly and slowly began to speak.

"President Quinn, are you okay?" Danielle’s heart tightened, her face turning a frightening shade of pale,

Everyone knew Sienna was the secret weapon of Yates Group, and more so Landon Lawson’s ex-wife. Behind her stood Felix Orwell, the newly risen mogul. If anything happened to Sienna, Danielle would truly be a historic sinner.

Sienna was startled inside, shaking her head repeatedly, "Of course I’m fine, who else do you think could harm me?"

If Danielle were here, she would notice Sienna’s eyes flashing constantly, genuinely betraying her.

Upon hearing confirmation of her safety, Danielle finally relaxed, taking a deep breath and muttering to herself, "As long as you’re fine."

"President Quinn, that business deal?"

"It’s off, they won’t pose a threat to us." Sienna’s voice suddenly turned cold; that man was audaciously reckless, daring to have unscrupulous intentions towards her.

Claire, you certainly have the gall to stir the pot, not afraid that I might act against the Quinn Family?

Sienna coldly laughed and hung up the phone after instructing Danielle to speed up.

Looking at everything before her, the woman’s lips slowly curved up, her beautiful face marked with resentment.

Indeed, not part of the same family; not entering the same family, Tom Quinn’s family were all equally unscrupulous, enjoying playing in the shadows both in life and business.

A short while after hanging up with Danielle, Felix Orwell called.

"Where were you yesterday? Why didn’t anyone pick up Chloe?" Felix Orwell’s voice was cold for the first time.

Listening to that chilling tone, Sienna felt guilty; she just remembered that yesterday Landon Lawson, due to her, didn’t leave for the entire night, causing these two parents to leave their child forgotten at the daycare, quite the unfit parents.

"I had some last-minute matters yesterday, which delayed me. Did you pick up Chloe?" Sienna asked back, expecting that since Felix called, he must have picked her up.

Felix held the phone, looking across at the little child sitting in front of him, eating a hamburger, sauce adorning the corners of her mouth, looking cheeky and cute, clearly not having noticed anything.

He reached out to wipe the sauce from the corners of her mouth, calming his anger. Since Sienna’s disappearance last night, Felix hadn’t slept all night.

Now, hearing Sienna was back safely, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, helplessly sighing.

"Chloe is with me, don’t worry."

After hanging up the call, Felix’s hand trembled slightly holding the phone; Sienna must have had something else yesterday, otherwise, she wouldn’t speak like this. But what could it be? What kept her out all night, not even telling him?

Evan Quinn, eating his hamburger, took a sip of coke and casually burped, saying, "Uncle Felix, don’t worry about mommy, she definitely had no problems last night."

"Why?"

Felix looked at Evan Quinn’s confident expression, finding it somewhat unusual, his brow furrowing slightly as he asked puzzledly.

Things he didn’t know, could this little child actually understand?

Evan Quinn placed his hands on the table, confidently saying, "I can certainly tell you, because mommy must have been with daddy. Usually, if mommy doesn’t come to pick me up, daddy always comes, but yesterday neither of them came to pick me up, it was very unusual just for that reason alone."

Thump!

Felix’s heart skipped a beat; Evan’s words had awakened him to the situation.

The reasoning that had settled now resurfaced.

Evan was right; indeed, yesterday when Felix couldn’t reach Sienna, the first person he contacted was Landon Lawson. However, this man also didn’t answer, ultimately shutting off his phone.

Perfectly mirroring Sienna’s situation, unless the two were together last night.

The man kept his head lowered, a hint of sadness in his eyes.

Just then, Felix’s phone vibrated again, yet at this moment, he lacked interest in any of it.

Evan Quinn, noticing the continuously flashing phone, lightly hummed and said, "It’s Uncle Sean Carter’s call."

The boy’s words pulled Felix’s thoughts back, he picked up the phone and pressed the answer key.

"President Orwell, the investigation you asked for regarding yesterday’s matter has some findings."
