CHAPTER 246: CHAPTER 246: PASSIONATE GAZE

"President Quinn, why aren’t you going in yet? Are you planning to breathe in all the air from our Yates Group building?" Chiara Thorne looked at Sienna Quinn, who stood at the office door for a long time, unwilling to go in. Every time Sienna made a mistake, she would get so nervous. It had been a while since she’d seen her in this state.

Sienna glared with her beautiful eyes and gave Chiara a hard look. The latter stuck out her cute little tongue and slowly said, "Alright, alright, it’s my fault, okay? I’ll open it for you."

Saying that, without waiting for Sienna’s consent, she mischievously pushed open the door.

"Don’t..."

What met her eyes was that gentle face, with his calm eyes carrying a hint of a smile.

"How long do you plan to keep avoiding me?"

Axel Yates, smiling warmly, talked. He had always thought Sienna was a strong woman, but today, he saw such a soft and playful side to her. How many sides of her had he not seen yet?

Sienna was momentarily speechless, took a deep breath, and just as she summoned the courage to speak, Axel suddenly said, "I reviewed the plan you had for Quinn Group again, and now I find it’s not that great, so I think we’ll just forget about it."

Hm?

The words just about to be spoken were choked back by Axel’s statement. Her beautiful face showed a surprised blush, and she quickly understood what was happening. How could he be so timely? How could Axel manage to come at such a precise moment?

"Thank you!"

A warmth surged in her heart; Axel’s help, always subtle, was hard to notice. Clearly, he helped her quell the opposition in the company but pretended not to care just not to make things difficult for Sienna.

Chiara exchanged a look with Danielle, and the two of them left the office in mutual understanding. Sienna finally calmed her emotions at this moment.

"President Yates, I acted selfishly."

"I know, but I don’t mind!" Axel suddenly lifted his head, the intensity in his eyes made Sienna shudder. Why? Why did this gaze feel so familiar? It was exactly like Landon Lawson’s gaze.

Why does he look at her like this? A trace of fear stirred in Sienna’s heart, but she didn’t know what to say. Her eyes kept darting away, not daring to meet Axel’s gaze.

"President Yates, since you know, why don’t you mind?"

"Because this is what you wanted. I don’t care what your reasons are; being able to help you makes me happy." Axel looked intently at Sienna, as if trying to discern something from her eyes.

But the woman’s evasive eyes disappointed Axel a bit, though the feeling of being helpful brought him a strange sense of satisfaction.

"President Yates, I’m your subordinate, I should be working for the benefit of the group, but my sudden decision caused losses to the company, that’s my fault." Sienna raised her head, her words carrying a sense of distance, deliberately pulling away from Axel.

The man shook his head with a wry smile, Sienna was still like this till now.

Axel stood up, his hands behind him, back to Sienna, his voice gradually turning cold.

"I have no one important left in this life; you are my friend. There’s nothing wrong with helping each other between friends."

What Axel said was fair and square, leaving Sienna with nothing to refute for a moment.

From beginning to end, the man never asked her for any reason, how could Sienna’s conscience be at ease?

Coming out of Axel’s office, she was dazed, his fervent gaze continually flashing before her eyes. Perhaps she was mistaken, could Axel really look at her like that?

Chiara was waiting in Sienna’s office. Seeing the woman looking so lost, she puzzled over it and asked, "What happened? Did President Yates reprimand you? It couldn’t be, he didn’t have any intention to punish you just now."

Chiara had always been a typical single since birth, instinctively thinking it was about work.

Sienna looked at her, opened her mouth several times, but finally shook her head, "Has there been any surprises at the company just now?"

"After you made that decision, within half an hour, the board couldn’t sit still, they all rushed to President Yates about it."

"The board? What happened after?"

Those old guys were no pushovers, they wouldn’t let people off easily back in the day. If it weren’t for Sienna’s commitment letter, the company might have been in shambles.

And how did Axel manage to handle all their pressure?

"President Yates handled it for you, said he asked you to do it."

Chiara leaned on the sofa, the scene from before crystal clear in her view. Axel stood alone, making all those old guys take a step back.

Sienna pursed her lips.

This needed to be remedied, otherwise her heart always felt a bit off.

She picked up her phone and dialed Felix Orwell. They talked it over and reached an agreement without any difficulty. Chiara conspired, "You want Yates Group to partner with Young President Orwell’s side? You know how reckless this idea is?"

"I know, but if I don’t, I’ll feel guilty."

"But you can’t do it like that, that company is..."

Chiara’s words were swallowed, Sienna was always stubborn, once she made up her mind, no one could argue her down. At this point, Chiara’s words were meaningless.

"I know what you’re worried about, but now that it’s like this, some things should be made clear." Sienna squinted, her eyes carrying a trace of coldness, she laughed lightly, but the smile was icy, making Chiara shiver.

This revenge queen seems ready to start.

"Mommy!"

A child’s tender voice broke the silence. Sienna and Danielle turned around to see Evan Quinn’s stout little figure wriggling toward her, cheerfully observing Sienna: "Mommy, be honest, where did you go last night."

Facing that pure gaze, Sienna couldn’t find words to respond.

It was too pure, pure enough that she couldn’t lie, but how could she spill the truth? The embarrassing moments between her and Landon last night, were truly unspeakable.

Moreover, Chiara, the gossip queen, was here, if she found out then Sean Carter would naturally know.

"Mommy is grown-up, do I need to report to you wherever I go? Don’t forget, you’re the child here."

Evan puckered his lips in dissatisfaction: "Mommy is really mean, you won’t tell me."
