I Have A Solo Mommy Plan, But Daddy Refuses to Let Go
Chapter 279: The Online Storm Rises Again
CHAPTER 279: CHAPTER 279: THE ONLINE STORM RISES AGAIN
Vera Yates trembled with anger. The whole affair had now escalated into a hot topic, and she, once a celebrated actress, was now labeled the other woman, accused of using unscrupulous means to drive the original partner away, trying to climb up the ladder herself. Yet, after five years, Landon Lawson still hadn’t married her, branding her as the true loser.
"Still just a woman beside Landon Lawson? The original wife is back; how can there still be a place for her?"
"Exactly, a typical homewrecker. I saw some exposé saying she was even Sienna Quinn’s best friend."
"Tsk tsk tsk, a typical ’guard against fire, thieves, and best friends’ scenario."
Vera was seething with anger, facing overwhelming online attacks with no way to stop them. She already felt like a rat in a trap.
The assistant, trembling, stood to the side, looking at Vera’s completely changed face, and fearfully said, "Miss Vance, there are reporters downstairs. What should we do..."
"Where’s the manager? Where’s the PR team? You’re actually asking me this? What were you thinking?" Vera sneered. Such a simple matter, and yet it had to be handled personally by her. She wondered what use this assistant was at all.
The assistant tightly pressed her lips together. No matter what she did, she’d be the one getting scolded. She was used to these days. Though she sneered inside, she clearly had new plans, as long as appearances were maintained.
"I’ll go handle it now." The assistant left Vera’s house, and upon reaching downstairs, she saw a crowd that had surrounded the apartment building.
Numerous cameras awaited Vera Yates’ appearance, wanting to hear the true news from her mouth, whether the rumors were indeed true, that she was a third party in title and deed.
The video from last night had already circulated online, where everyone heard Landon Lawson himself say Sienna Quinn was still his wife, his legitimate spouse. This truth was something Vera could hardly bury now.
Vera’s heart trembled; what should she do now? A sudden urgent ringtone interrupted her thoughts, showing Nolan Shaw as the caller.
"Miss Vance, President Lawson wants to hold a press conference."
"A press conference? Is it about the current online news?" Vera’s heart skipped a beat. No words would be as powerful as Landon Lawson’s own denial. If he could deny the news himself, Vera’s situation would become much easier.
"Yes, President Lawson only learned about the news after arriving at the company today. He feels it has disturbed you and wishes to help you through this hardship." Nolan’s voice was calm and natural. No matter how Vera listened, she felt extremely relieved, agreeing repeatedly.
Unexpectedly, Stephen’s heart still held her in it. She knew he wouldn’t watch her suffer from online bullying, nor wanted her to endure any grievances. He’d done so for five years, so why let a Sienna Quinn make her suffer?
One moment filled with anger, Vera Yates was now overjoyed. With Landon Lawson stepping in, it was the best possible scenario, not to mention the responses from others.
Hanging up the phone, a sinister smile crept onto her lips. The coldness before her was unfathomable. Vera now realized Miles Grant understood Landon Lawson the most. He knew that his visit yesterday wouldn’t get a response and would only leave him disheartened towards Sienna Quinn.
Sienna might be disappointing, but still more useful than anyone.
Looking at the woman in front of her, Vera opened and closed her mouth, saying, "Sienna, let’s see how you turn into a rat in the street. Do you really think I’m not your match?"
Nolan Shaw looked at the phone he’d just hung up and turned to Landon Lawson saying, "President Lawson, everything is ready, including the press conference tomorrow and notifying the reporters."
Landon nodded satisfactorily.
Nolan hesitated, looking at him with a hint of doubt in his eyes, "President Lawson, how do we plan to handle this matter? Are we really going to announce all the truths?"
"Yes, this truth delayed for five years is too unfair to Sienna. I’ve only known to defend others, rarely her. Just this point makes it impossible for me to hold my head up in front of her or Evan Quinn. So this time, no matter what, I must resolve it well."
Watching Landon’s determination, Nolan nodded with satisfaction. He had always been confused about Vera’s matter. If Landon didn’t love Vera, he shouldn’t give her so much hope, which wouldn’t lead to disappointment.
"Do you have something to say?"
Landon squinted, staring intently at Nolan. The boy’s eyes held so much meaning that it couldn’t be hidden.
"President Lawson..." Nolan hesitated for quite a while, then slowly spoke.
"Actually, I’ve never planned to really tell you this. Over the years, you’ve truly neglected your wife, and your ambiguous relationship with Miss Vance allowed the media to fabricate stories. In the end, your inaction led to all of this."
Finishing his bold words filled Nolan with fear. He lowered his head, not daring to look at Landon’s eyes, fearing that his cold and unpredictable boss would fly into a rage.
Nolan had just bought a new house recently, with monthly mortgage payments. If he angered Landon now and lost his job, how could he pay the mortgage? All life’s difficulties rushed to his mind, making his face look terrible. How did he end up in this situation?
Why speak out unnecessarily? Living a good life wasn’t enough?
"Hmm, you’re right."
"Huh?" Nolan was stunned, rubbing his ears. Did he hear wrong? Landon actually said he was right? Was it becoming his fault?
Landon, a man who never erred, and to make him admit a mistake was extremely difficult. Yet he had just admitted it, surprising Nolan greatly.
Looking at the man in front of him, Nolan opened and closed his mouth, saying, "President Lawson, I must have heard wrong."
"You didn’t hear wrong. I think what you said is right and good, so I should learn from you and start compensating for the mistakes I’ve made over the years."
Landon had never made a wrong decision, but this mistake made him regret immensely. He wouldn’t repeat the past life’s errors in this life.
