CHAPTER 283: CHAPTER 283: GRANT FAMILY CRISIS

Miles Grant secretly thought to himself, someone must be doing this on purpose to ruin his father’s company. If their real intention was to bring down the Grant Group, then the solution he just proposed to his father, the people from the new company they were developing must have also foreseen it, and they wouldn’t let them succeed easily.

Miles Grant didn’t know why, but he felt an inexplicable panic about this incident, knowing that this matter wouldn’t be resolved so easily.

After seeing his father’s mood stabilize a bit, Miles decided to quickly return to his room and have a good sleep to prepare for the tough battle ahead.

Miles Grant gently said to his grandmother, "I’ve performed several major surgeries in a row recently, and I haven’t slept for days. I won’t join you for dinner; I’ll head home to sleep first."

Miles Grant’s grandmother, who had just felt a bit relieved, suddenly heard her grandson saying he was leaving. She immediately frowned and asked, "Huh? Miles, are you leaving tonight? Your room at home has already been prepared for you. Why not stay and rest at home tonight? You haven’t been home for ages."

Without hesitation, Miles refused, "No, I sleep better alone. The noise would keep me awake. Besides, I have surgeries in a couple of days, and my place is closer to the hospital."

Miles Grant’s grandmother hadn’t seen her grandson stay at home for a long time, and it had been ages since she’d seen him, mostly because the relationship between her son and grandson wasn’t very friendly.

Miles Grant’s grandmother bowed her head, sighing, appearing pitiable to anyone who saw her.

She mumbled to herself, "Does this house still feel like a home? The grandson rarely stays at home and months go by without seeing him. Sigh! It’s been hard for you."

Seeing his grandmother worried like this made Miles very uncomfortable, but he knew his presence at home would cause them more trouble. So, he thought it best to leave and avoid more issues.

Unlike his grandmother, Miles’ father was not soft-hearted at all, saying, "Let him go. He never treated this home seriously. Sooner or later this place will collapse because of him."

Initially feeling guilty, Miles was angered by his father’s words, dismissing his discomfort and guilt. He replied furiously, "Collapse because of me? If you’re so capable, don’t call me when there are problems with the company. Solve them yourself!"

Miles’ father was so angry that he nearly spat blood; the previously calm atmosphere immediately became tense again.

With no show of kindness, Miles’ father said, "The company will eventually be yours. If you don’t take care of it, I wouldn’t bother trying so hard. Our savings are enough for me and your grandmother to live on for a lifetime."

Miles’ grandmother, who loathed seeing father-son arguments, tugged at Miles’ shirt. Seeing his father’s pleading look softened Miles’ heart a bit, and he didn’t retort further.

Miles gently said to his father, "Mom, I’m going home first."

With that said, Miles stood up and left without even looking back at his father.

The butler, witnessing the tense scene, silently handed the young master his keys. Miles took the keys and prepared to drive home.

Miles drove off quickly.

Watching Miles’ departing figure, his grandmother frowned, her face clouded as she looked at Mr. Grant, "Is this how you drive away your son? You just drink and get drunk every day. Miles has been doing very well, managing family affairs all these years. If it weren’t for your incompetence, how would Miles end up like this?"

Mr. Grant, feeling accused, rubbed his temples wearily and said, "Mom, the company’s situation is already bad. Isn’t this just the mess this brat caused? If he hadn’t declined the business Landon Lawson offered us back then, how would our company end up like this? Honestly, it’s his incompetence."

Every time he thought about it, Mr. Grant was furious. A good business opportunity was missed; it was returned to Landon Lawson. Is he a fool? How did he father such a foolish son? It’s really incomprehensible.

Miles’ grandmother rolled her eyes, looking at her son who only sighed daily, finding him truly lacking in any redeeming qualities, only dining lazily, drinking, and acting drunk. It seems the Grant Family is indeed doomed in his hands.

He has no ambition, only receiving charity from the Lawson Family. Can such charity last a lifetime? It’s just an illusion, isn’t it?

Yet, the lesson understood by her grandson, her son just couldn’t grasp.

Upon returning home, Miles didn’t even change before falling onto the bed, ready to sleep.

But after going out and learning about such a big issue, insomnia was inevitable. Even as tired as he was, Miles couldn’t sleep; he kept thinking about who was behind today’s incident.

How could his father’s company face such problems? The more Miles thought, the more he felt it was a conspiracy. There couldn’t be such coincidences in the world.

Scrolling through his phone, Miles felt quite puzzled. He knew someone was deliberately sabotaging the Grant Group’s progress, but he couldn’t figure out who it was. The only person he bore hatred towards was Sienna Quinn. Recently, Sienna had just announced that the European and American clothing company was actually hers, a joint one between them. But why had things turned out like this?

Why would Sienna suddenly target the Grant Family? Could it be because of what happened five years ago? But did that little girl really know?

His expression slightly changed; how could Sienna know?

Miles always believed that Sienna didn’t know about what happened five years ago, even if she did find out, she wouldn’t cause such a big scene.

After all, that plan was only being plotted at the time and hadn’t been executed completely. Ever since he met Sienna, he had always been very courteous to her, never voicing any opinions. How could Sienna possibly point the blame at him?

All these years, Sienna had never made a single mistake.

Even if she wanted revenge, it wouldn’t involve him unless Sienna indeed knew something. But how could that be? It’s absolutely impossible. What is this vengeful woman really up to?
