Chapter 305: First Time Feeling Small and Helpless
CHAPTER 305: CHAPTER 305: FIRST TIME FEELING SMALL AND HELPLESS
"Stop talking now, just hold on, the doctor will be here soon! I... I’ll call them right now." Sienna Quinn could fool others, but she couldn’t fool herself. Watching the blood continuously gushing from Landon Lawson’s chest, the crimson liquid soaking his shirt had already made it swell.
Her hand holding the phone trembled uncontrollably, and that beautiful face of hers was already streaked with tears.
Before Sienna could dial the number, an urgent ringtone blared.
"Sienna, where are you and Landon Lawson now?" It turned out that even before Landon came to find Sienna, a call had been made to Felix Orwell. Back then, the only person Felix could trust was probably himself.
Once, those two people he trusted the most, his closest friends, had also turned against him.
Landon knew that when it came to matters involving Sienna, Felix would take responsibility without question. Even though he was Landon’s biggest rival, he was also the person Landon trusted the most.
At least, Felix wouldn’t stand by and watch Sienna get into any trouble.
"I’ll... I’ll send you the location now."
Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face, and Sienna didn’t know what she looked like anymore. She had lost her usual composure, no longer the company’s CEO, just a woman terrified of losing her man.
Petite, helpless.
"Don’t worry, we’re nearby and will be there soon." For the first time, Felix heard such helplessness in Sienna’s voice. Even without seeing her, he could feel her sorrow. After all these years, it was Felix’s first time witnessing this side of Sienna.
He hung up the phone, his face turning cold, hiding any earlier nonchalance, then turned to the police and doctors, saying: "Over here."
Sienna held tightly to Landon’s icy hand, hoping to give him strength.
About five minutes passed and through blurry eyes, Sienna saw a glimpse of white rapidly approaching. She screamed with all her might: "Doctor, here, we’re here, please, save him quickly!"
Sienna’s palm pressed tightly against Landon’s gunshot wound. Unlike any previous panic, she forced herself to stay calm within those ten minutes, tearing strips from her white T-shirt to bandage the wound.
If the blood continued to flow, Landon wouldn’t last until Felix and the others arrived.
Hearing the shout, Felix rushed over with the police and doctors.
"Don’t cry..." Landon’s long fingers gently wiped the tears from Sienna’s face, then his head tilted, and he lost consciousness.
"Landon Lawson! Wake up! Aren’t you still the indomitable, powerful President Lawson? You can’t die! You haven’t repaid what you owe me!" Sienna pressed her hand against his chest, blood still seeping through her fingers, screaming desperately, but she couldn’t awaken Landon.
"Sienna, calm down," advised Felix, stepping forward to restrain. By then, Landon had already been taken away by the ambulance. As the ambulance door slowly shut, Sienna’s vision blackened, and she fainted.
"Sienna!"
...
The sticky red blood stained Sienna’s body. Landon suddenly appeared before her, then drifted further away, finally disappearing.
"Stephen!" Sienna shouted, chasing after him, hands reaching to grab a figure, but grasping nothing. When her hands were opened, they were bloody.
"Ah!" Sienna screamed, jolting out of her nightmare. She sat up from the hospital bed, drenched in cold sweat.
The sharp smell of disinfectant immediately made Sienna realize she was in a hospital.
The door opened, and a nurse walked in.
"You’re awake."
"Where’s Landon? Where is he?" Sienna urgently grabbed the nurse’s gown to ask.
"President Lawson is still in surgery," the startled nurse replied, attempting to help Sienna lie down, but Sienna suddenly shoved her aside.
"Hey! Where are you going?" The nurse, pushed back onto the bed, shouted at Sienna’s retreating figure, but she was already out the door in a flash.
"What kind of patient runs faster than a rabbit!" The nurse complained in exasperation.
Bumping into walls and stumbling, Sienna ignored the strange looks from people in the hospital, as if she had gone mad, until she reached the surgical room door, seeing the glaring red light, tears instantly blurred her vision.
"Sienna? Why are you here? I told you to rest properly, now go." Felix’s brow furrowed with concern.
Sienna refused to leave, stubbornly pleading with her hoarse voice: "Please, let me stay here."
Felix sighed deeply, then stopped trying to persuade her.
"Sienna! How dare you come? Haven’t you harmed Landon enough?"
Suddenly, Vera Yates arrived, her eyes blazing with fury upon seeing Sienna.
Sienna couldn’t be bothered with her, her gaze fixed on the small figure behind her.
Meeting Sienna’s gaze, Evan Quinn couldn’t help but throw himself into Sienna’s arms, crying bitterly.
"Mommy, is Daddy going to die?" Evan sobbed.
"Stop crying!" Sienna sternly ordered, startling Evan with her harsh tone, his tiny body trembled violently.
Sienna couldn’t bear it; Evan hadn’t heard a harsh word from her all these years. She crouched down, gently stroking Evan’s head and softly said: "Don’t cry, Chloe, your daddy will be fine. We need to stay quiet in the hallway so we can wait quietly for him to come out, okay?"
Evan obediently nodded.
"Hmph! How disgustingly shameless you are!" Vera’s sarcastic voice rang from behind. Felix, disliking Vera’s arrogance, was about to step in but was stopped by Sienna.
With Felix’s status, there was no need to engage with such a woman.
Sienna slowly walked step by step closer to Vera, her imposing aura causing Vera to retreat.
"What, what are you doing?" Vera said guiltily.
"Did you bring Chloe here?" Sienna coldly questioned.
Upon hearing the news, Vera had taken Evan from the Lawson home, her intention was for the young boy to suffer a blow, hoping his clever mind would turn to mush.
"So what if I did? No matter wha—"
"Smack!"
Before she finished, Sienna swung her arm, landing a hard slap on Vera’s face, the force so strong it shocked even Felix nearby. Vera’s small face swelled up high.
"You dare hit me?" Vera, holding one side of her face, trembled with anger, raising her hand to retaliate.
Sienna swiftly covered Vera’s mouth, pressing her against the cold wall.
"Bang!" Vera’s back hit the wall, making her grimace in pain. Before she could react, Sienna followed with a punch to Vera’s stomach, silencing her completely.
