CHAPTER 329: CHAPTER 329: LET "MILES GRANT" GO TO WORK

Just in time to hear Landon Lawson talking about Miles Grant, Nolan Shaw was so shocked to hear that Miles Grant had passed away that he almost couldn’t speak. The whole person seemed rather listless; a living person was perfectly fine just the day before, how could they be gone the next moment?

Who exactly did they cross paths with to cause such a thing to happen?

Although Nolan Shaw had great doubts in his heart, since it was still Landon Lawson’s private matter, as an assistant, such things should not be said or asked about lightly unless the president speaks of it.

Sienna Quinn nodded, but her pretty little face frowned handsomely. She slowly said to Nolan Shaw, "Can you help me take care of Chloe? I have something to discuss with Landon."

"Alright, Miss Quinn."

Nolan Shaw agreed, watching Sienna Quinn leave the ward. Suddenly, something felt off, though he couldn’t pinpoint what was strange about it; something just felt a little off.

Evan Quinn looked at Nolan Shaw’s puzzled expression and giggled.

Nolan Shaw turned his head. Looking at Evan Quinn’s pretty little face, he asked questioningly, "What are you laughing at?"

"Uncle Nolan, are you especially curious right now about what Mommy just said?" Evan Quinn blinked her big eyes playfully, her clever demeanor making Nolan Shaw start to doubt how old this little one really was. Was she really just a five-year-old girl?

Nolan Shaw nodded, just feeling something strange, but couldn’t remember what it was.

Evan Quinn chuckled softly and slowly spoke, "Uncle Nolan, didn’t you notice just now?"

"Notice what?"

"Mommy just called Daddy ’Stephen,’ not by his full name Landon Lawson." Evan Quinn lifted her little chin proudly, a hint of smugness appearing at the corner of her mouth.

Nolan Shaw’s heart skipped a beat at Evan Quinn’s reminder. He stared at Evan Quinn, slapping his forehead hard.

"What a pig brain I have, it took your reminder for me to realize. I kept saying something felt odd, and it was your reminder that made me realize it."

Watching Nolan Shaw laugh foolishly, Evan Quinn pouted. What a peculiar uncle, she didn’t quite understand how her Daddy could use such a strange uncle as an assistant.

Not only strange but also rather silly.

Nolan Shaw suddenly had a bright idea, his eyes lit up instantly: "Do you think President Quinn and President Lawson might actually make up?"

Seeing Nolan Shaw’s excited expression, Evan Quinn’s eyes also lit up. Although Mommy’s words were subtle just now, it was still clear there was something different in her words.

It seems that Daddy and Mommy are really about to reconcile.

Sienna Quinn walked out of the ward, and after just a few steps, she saw Landon Lawson’s back in the doctor’s office, catching the three words "Miles Grant" as she moved closer.

Every time she heard those words, Sienna Quinn’s heart skipped a beat.

Clutching her chest tightly, this man was clearly dead, never to return, as cold as could be. Yet, even so, the pain of that scalpel piercing into her body in a past life remained vividly clear, each time feeling a stabbing sensation where her kidneys are.

The pain Miles Grant brought her was not something an ordinary person could compensate for, and she absolutely would not consent to the matter being over just because Miles Grant died.

Sienna Quinn leaned against the wall, listening to the conversation between the two men.

"President Lawson, I know you and Dr. Grant have always had a good relationship, but suddenly Dr. Grant’s family sent over a resignation letter on his behalf, making it very difficult for our hospital. What’s more, Dr. Grant’s reputation is what brought much of the hospital’s fame. Countless patients came from home and abroad specifically for Dr. Grant."

The head of the department’s face turned green. Miles Grant hadn’t shown up to work these few days. He used to be a model of overworking, never having missed work like this, several days in a row.

The head initially thought Miles Grant just wanted to relax a bit, but who knew this would happen?

At the mention of Miles Grant, Landon Lawson’s brow twitched slightly, even the brightness of his eyes dimmed.

"So, Director, is there something you hope to achieve by asking me here?"

Looking at Landon Lawson’s face, the department head rubbed his hands excitedly, "Well... President Lawson, could you go back and have a good talk with him? See if there’s anything that can be negotiated with the hospital. If he thinks the salary is too low, the dean can raise his salary, as long as Dr. Grant can return."

Seeing the expectation on the department head’s face, Landon Lawson shook his head slightly, "You’re also from this city, you should know that Miles Grant never cared about money. He pursued the medical career purely out of passion and responsibility."

If Miles Grant truly cared about money, why else would he leave his position as a company president and choose this demanding profession?

The expression of the once hopeful department head suddenly darkened, shaking his head powerlessly, "It seems there’s no solution now. I don’t understand why Dr. Grant suddenly quit. He was doing so well before, why is that?"

The department head couldn’t fathom, couldn’t understand why Miles Grant did what he did.

Landon Lawson suddenly clutched his chest with his left hand.

The slight pain gradually swept to his heart, almost suffocating him.

"Sorry, Director, it seems I really can’t help you with this." Landon Lawson apologized to the director after speaking.

The director shook his head helplessly, "This matter can’t be forced. For someone as good as Dr. Grant, he ought to have good fortune, no matter what line of work he chooses. I just hope he can live well."

Good person... good fortune...

But Miles Grant did not receive good fortune, nor was he a good person. Yet, he was Landon Lawson’s childhood friend, and even though those later events made Landon Lawson realize he didn’t understand him, could that really dissipate the bond between them? That would never happen.

Landon Lawson’s left hand clutched his chest tightly. Who exactly killed Miles Grant, and why did they have to kill and silence him? Isn’t that a bit too lawless?

The director, looking at Landon Lawson’s hand, was full of worry: "President Lawson, although your left hand is fine, your right hand hasn’t recovered yet. You shouldn’t be doing heavy work; you must rest well."

"Thank you, Director."

Landon Lawson didn’t want to stay there any longer, the oppressive atmosphere made it difficult for him to breathe.

Each time he saw those in white coats, it was as if he could see Miles Grant’s shadow in them; how much he wished Miles Grant could still be there in the hospital corridors wearing a white coat, stethoscope around his neck, smiling gracefully and greeting him.

Even if they were no longer brothers, at least let him still be a living person.
