CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: WHAT YOU OWE HER, I WILL GET BACK

"Don’t say anything, let’s go to the hospital first." Without waiting for Sienna Quinn to agree, Axel Yates stepped forward to press the elevator button.

Sienna had thought it was just a simple scrape, but now she felt an excruciating pain, gritting her teeth as sweat broke out on her forehead.

Axel personally drove Sienna to the hospital.

On the way, Axel wanted to ask Sienna several times what had happened between her and Landon Lawson, what their relationship was, and why things had gotten so bad.

But every time he was about to speak, seeing Sienna’s slightly furrowed brows and tightly pressed lips, her restrained expression made Axel reluctant to ask.

Feeling sorry for Sienna, Axel recalled what Landon Lawson had done earlier, feeling a surge of anger, "Landon always seems like a gentleman, but to lay hands on a woman, he’s a real bastard!" Especially to his prized Sienna.

Sienna endured the pain in her wrist, looking out the car window at the quickly receding scenery to distract herself. Hearing Axel’s words, she let out a cold, bitter laugh.

Compared to what Landon had done to her in the past, this was child’s play.

"Sienna, you and Landon..." Hearing Sienna’s cold laugh, Axel couldn’t help but probe.

Sienna lowered her gaze slightly but remained silent, not answering.

Seeing Sienna’s troubled expression, Axel immediately said, "Alright, alright, if you don’t want to say it, you don’t have to. I was just asking out of curiosity, after all, everyone has their own privacy. I do too."

"I’m sorry, President Yates... it’s not that I meant to hide it, but..."

Axel had helped her a lot over the years, being not just a boss but also like an older brother or even a close friend.

But other things, Sienna could talk to him about freely; it was just the matter with Landon Lawson, she didn’t know how to explain it.

Or more accurately, she wasn’t ready to completely unveil that scar.

Because once she talked about her relationship with Landon, it would involve many events.

Even after all these years, even though Sienna thought she was invulnerable, thinking about those things still hurt as if her heart were being gouged out.

Axel gave a forgiving smile, "Although I’m indeed curious about you and Landon, I care more about you right now, so if you don’t want to talk, there’s no need to apologize or feel troubled."

Sienna gave a small smile, grateful for Axel’s understanding.

In the hospital, Sienna was undergoing examination and bandaging.

Axel asked the doctor beside him, "Is the injury serious?"

"Although it’s not very serious, she should still be careful, avoid lifting heavy objects and excessive activity. Come back for a check-up in three days. Tendons and bones take a hundred days to heal; if not properly healed, she will easily suffer habitual sprains in the future. Don’t take it lightly just because you’re young, you’ll regret it..."

The doctor said this while bandaging Sienna, instructing her not to bathe or touch the wound, then allowing her to leave.

At that moment, Axel’s phone suddenly rang.

Receiving a call at this time, Axel thought to himself it couldn’t be such a coincidence. When he picked up the phone and saw who it was, he couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless.

"I’ll go take a call first." Axel told Sienna.

Sienna nodded and said, "President Yates, you go ahead. You don’t have to wait for me. I can take a taxi back to the office after getting the medicine."

"Going back to the office like this..." Axel was about to say more when the phone kept ringing.

"In any case, just wait for me."

Sienna couldn’t convince Axel otherwise, so she nodded and waited there.

Axel stepped out of the ward, noticing a flower shop on the first floor, he bought two bouquets, giving one to the injured Sienna and placing the other on the back seat of the car, a slight smile on his face, warm as when seeing the closest person.

After speaking, Axel quickly took a few steps aside to answer the phone, "Young Master Orwell, you’re really punctual."

"President Yates, from what you said, it seems like you didn’t want to receive my call." Felix Orwell half-joked.

At this time, it should have been past midnight over there, yet he still wasn’t asleep.

The cacophony mixed with electronic music was so loud that Axel felt his head might explode; he quickly moved the phone away from his ear, taking a moment before the ringing subsided.

This Felix Orwell was indeed like a playboy prince of mischief. Although he had said he went back to France to handle matters, he had scarcely arrived before he was bar-hopping, mingling amid women.

After speaking, Axel quickly took a few steps aside to answer the phone, "Young Master Orwell, you’re really punctual."

"President Yates, from what you said, it seems like you didn’t want to receive my call." Felix Orwell half-joked.

"Young Master Orwell sure knows how to joke; I’m so used to waiting for your calls every day."

Axel responded with a slightly insincere smile.

On the call, Felix laughed then got straight to the point, asking, "Is Sienna’s work going smoothly?"

"Rest assured, Young Master Orwell, Sienna is my carefully groomed ace; I won’t let her face any grievance at the company."

This was almost a routine topic during their calls, one asking out of habit, the other answering automatically.

Felix asked again, "That’s good to hear. I heard your Yates Group is competing with Landon Lawson for the HR contract; will Sienna not avoid dealings with Landon?"

Axel paused, knowing Felix didn’t want Sienna interacting with Landon, but some things couldn’t be avoided. After hesitating, he spoke frankly, "Young Master Orwell, this can’t be avoided."

Felix heard this and fell silent for a moment. Although he desperately wanted to protect Sienna, she wasn’t a child, and it was impossible to keep her tethered by his side at all times.

"In that case, I hope President Yates can minimize Sienna’s interactions with Landon as much as possible," Felix advised.

"I’ll try to arrange it." Axel said this while glancing at Sienna, who was still bandaging, feeling inexplicably guilty.

"Alright, if anything happens to Sienna, I hope President Yates will inform me immediately."

There was a long silence on the other end of the line, and the usually playful man’s expression had subtly changed, pushing aside the woman sitting next to him, he walked to a quieter place with a serious look.

"Did something happen to Sienna?"

"Just a minor injury." Axel’s voice lacked confidence.

"Just?" Felix’s eyes grew steely, his usual carefree demeanor replaced by a rare seriousness, surprising everyone.

Axel awkwardly cleared his throat before explaining what he knew.

Felix clenched his fist tightly, his narrow eyes narrowing to a line, a dangerous glint shooting from his eyes.

Even without facing Felix, Axel could feel the change in demeanor from the call.

"How is she now?"

Forcibly restraining his anger, trying hard not to let his voice ripple.

"She’s alright now." Axel sensed something amiss and after some thought, he spoke.
