CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: SIENNA QUINN THE IRON LADY

"You’ve done quite a bit for her, haven’t you? I’ve never seen you do so much for any woman."

Facing Axel Yates’ questioning, Felix Orwell instead curled his lips into a smile.

"We’re just good friends."

"Just friends?"

Axel Yates raised an eyebrow, becoming increasingly intrigued by their relationships.

Felix Orwell on the other end of the phone heard the gossiping tone and rolled his eyes, "You’re getting more and more gossipy."

Just as the words fell, Axel Yates cautiously asked, "But... why do you keep advising Sienna Quinn to stay away from Landon Lawson?"

"Because..."

Felix Orwell hesitated for a moment but then said, "Because I don’t think Landon Lawson is a good person."

Axel Yates: ...

This straightforward and simple answer indeed aligned perfectly with Felix Orwell’s personality.

Knowing he didn’t want to say more, Axel Yates didn’t probe further, just smiled and said, "Young Master Orwell’s concerns will also weigh on my mind."

"Thank you, President Yates. Notify me when I return to the country, or when you visit the French branch, so we can have a good drink."

"Definitely."

The man lowered his head, the tenderness in his eyes growing thicker. He and Sienna Quinn were long-time friends, one of the few people she truly trusted.

"Landon Lawson, the things you owe her, I’ll help her get back."

After hanging up the phone, Axel Yates saw Sienna Quinn standing not far away waiting for her, holding her injured hand in front, with a bandage wrapped tightly around it.

"Does it still hurt?" Axel Yates asked as he approached.

Sienna Quinn smiled and shook her head, "No, it doesn’t hurt anymore."

Axel Yates recalled how earlier Sienna Quinn was in so much pain that her whole little face scrunched up together. How could it not hurt so quickly? Knowing she was bravely holding back, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

"Let me take you home." Axel Yates said.

"Home? But there are still many things at the company I haven’t handled, and I only twisted my wrist, it’s not enough to prevent me from working."

Her beautiful face had a faint smile as she shook her head. Even though she drank a bit and got injured today, there’s still more important matters awaiting her attention.

"It’s just a scrape." Sienna Quinn put away her arm. If such a small injury was enough to go home, life would have been much harder in France all these years.

When she first arrived in France, she was alone. At that time, to avoid anyone finding her, she didn’t even tell Felix Orwell, carrying a pregnancy until she gave birth to Chloe. During those years, from a clueless girl who didn’t know anything, she learned to take care of herself and Chloe while continuing her studies. What wounds hasn’t she endured along the way? Surely, she made it through all alone.

If she stopped working just because of a scratch, she and Chloe would have starved long ago.

Felix Orwell only bumped into her by chance later on.

But Axel Yates watched her injured arm, looking like that yet insisting on working, suddenly realizing her hardships. Reaching the status of Sienna Quinn, it’s perfectly normal to go home and rest when injured, especially when Axel Yates had already agreed to let her rest at home.

"I’m your boss, if I say take a day off, you take a day off obediently! Besides, ever since you returned to the country, you’ve dived straight into work and had no time to look around or accompany Chloe, right?" Axel Yates asked.

Sienna Quinn, who was about to speak, swallowed her words upon hearing Chloe.

Axel Yates patted Sienna Quinn on the shoulder lightly, "Although Chloe is smarter and more sensible than other kids, he is still a child."

If Sienna Quinn cherished anything about living this life again, it was having Chloe as her son, but also feeling most indebted to him.

"I know my body best; let me first go to the company to arrange some affairs, then return later."

Watching the woman’s stubborn demeanor, Axel Yates shook his head helplessly, wondering just what sort of workaholic he’d brought back. Being the boss, he didn’t know whether to feel pleased or helpless.

"Alright then, I’ll take you home tonight no matter what."

"Of course." Sienna Quinn replied playfully with a smile.

When getting into the car, Sienna Quinn noticed a bouquet of flowers placed on the back seat, different in color from the one she held. That one seemed more like it was meant to honor someone...

Sienna Quinn was somewhat curious but chose not to ask, feeling it’s better not to touch on personal matters.

...

"The new President Quinn is really strict, isn’t she? I’ve revised this proposal so many times, and she still sent it back."

Simon Leighton looked somewhat displeased, standing in the pantry impatiently venting.

"Nothing can be done, I heard she was specially recruited back by President Yates from France for this HR collaboration. After all, our competitor is Grant Group. But she’s so young; could she be involved with our President Yates..."

Chloe Langley, a stylish woman in her late twenties, held a coffee cup with exquisite nail art on her fingernails.

Appearing very gossipy, it seemed she had already confirmed some relationship between Sienna Quinn and Axel Yates.

"Don’t talk about those things. If it reaches someone’s ears, we’ll be in trouble. Let’s quickly settle this proposal, then we’ll get a break too."

Hector Warren, appearing more mature with a steadier demeanor.

What Chloe Langley said was taboo in the company, especially when it involved the personal affairs of two leaders. A minor slip-up spreading out, even he would be implicated.

Chloe Langley pouted, "If they dare to do it, are they afraid of being talked about?"

"Alright, alright, let’s stop talking and get back to work. There are still a few data left to check; looks like we’ll be working late again tonight."

Simon Leighton interrupted their conversation, yawning as he left the pantry with freshly made coffee.

Just after the three dispersed, two figures appeared at the pantry door.

"These people really have loose tongues, spreading gossip around the company."

Danielle Carter stood beside, listening to their gossip, her face looking displeased.

As soon as Sienna Quinn was dropped off at the company by Axel Yates, Danielle Carter nervously watched her, seeing her arm bandaged up, admiring her determination even more from the bottom of her heart.

Sienna Quinn originally planned to hold a meeting, but as she and Danielle Carter passed the pantry, they overheard their conversation inside. She secretly glanced at Sienna Quinn’s expression but saw calmness, no change whatsoever, as if what she heard was just gossip about others.

"President Quinn, don’t you get angry?"

"We can’t stop these kinds of rumors."

Sienna Quinn shrugged, looking entirely indifferent.

"Are you just going to let them spread lies?"

Danielle Carter was surprised looking at Sienna Quinn, a lofty President Quinn, hearing people gossiping about her behind her back, yet not only was she not angry, she seemed unaffected.

While continuing forward, Sienna Quinn casually said, "Don’t you think that winning the HR Group’s collaboration would be a better way to slap them in the face?"

Sienna Quinn smiled faintly, genuinely curious about what expressions those people would wear then.
