CHAPTER 342: CHAPTER 342: RETURNING TO THE COMPANY

Sienna Quinn and Axel Yates were essentially in a cold war; the Yates Group was already busy enough, let alone with Axel just returning? The company had long been in chaos.

It wasn’t just external troubles, but also internal concerns.

However, in Axel Yates’ eyes, these weren’t issues at all. He didn’t approach anyone, not even Anson Linton, who was causing the most stir within the company. He lived in a particularly decadent state, as if he wasn’t concerned with the company’s matters.

Anson Linton was initially quite anxious after hearing about Axel Yates’ return, but now it seemed he wasn’t worried about Linton at all.

Watching Anson Linton muddle through each day, Axel Yates didn’t know why, but seeing him in this state made him happier than anyone else.

The assistant beside him, full of concern, whispered, "Now that he’s back, shouldn’t we be more cautious in our actions?"

"What’s there to be cautious about? Look at what we’re doing now, it’s blatantly obvious, and he doesn’t seem to have any intention of interfering." Anson Linton sneered coldly. Inside, he was already overjoyed; he originally thought Axel Yates might try to obstruct or salvage this situation, but now it seemed everything was going according to his plan.

The assistant nodded, but there was a hint of worry in his brow. No matter what, Axel Yates was still the company president, and his words held weight within the company. If Axel was only playing a game of deception, then the one to suffer in the end would be Anson Linton, and as Linton’s assistant, he’d be caught in the crossfire too.

Anson Linton turned to look at the assistant, his face full of worry, and sneered coldly, his eyes filled with mockery.

"Look at your little courage, you’ll never amount to anything in your life." Anson Linton scoffed, then turned and walked away.

The assistant stood behind, watching Anson Linton’s back. He smirked, "One day, you’ll pay for your arrogance."

Though unwilling, the assistant still followed in Anson Linton’s footsteps. Just as they reached the company’s elevator door, the bell dinged, and the elevator door slowly opened, revealing a tall figure inside.

Anson Linton’s body trembled; he never expected such a coincidence. He had just been discussing Axel Yates with the assistant, and now they randomly ran into him in the elevator.

"President Yates, what a coincidence."

"Not a coincidence. I was waiting for you."

Axel Yates coldly looked at Anson Linton, a playful smile on his lips. In Anson’s eyes, this smile felt strange and made his body shiver with cold dread.

What did Axel Yates just say? He was waiting for him? Did he want something from him?

He turned his head sternly, glaring at the assistant beside him. It was all that assistant’s crow mouth talking nonsense, otherwise why would Axel Yates deliberately come to him today? After all, he’d been back at the company for two days but had been keeping a low profile without any signs.

"I wonder what business President Yates has with me?" Anson Linton slowly spoke, his tone unyielding, giving no regard to Axel Yates’ words. No matter what, he was still the biggest director internally in the group and naturally spoke with confidence.

"Nothing much, just thought I’d chat with you." Axel Yates smiled faintly, lowering his demeanor. This attitude pleased Anson immensely. He deliberately glanced at his assistant. As if saying, see: this is how your president talks to me, so courteous.

The assistant furrowed his brow, unable to believe this was how Axel Yates would speak to him. It was simply unusual.

Yet, when Anson Linton and Axel Yates entered the office, the assistant alone was left waiting outside, watching time tick by, feeling that something was wrong since Linton hadn’t come out yet.

The assistant looked at Danielle Carter sitting beside him, quietly asking, "Do you know why the president is looking for Director Linton? Why hasn’t he come out yet?"

Danielle continued looking at her file, not raising her head, "I don’t know why either. President Yates buried himself in the office alone since he returned."

"How can you not know? Haven’t you always been by President Yates’ side?" In the assistant’s view, Danielle Carter was like Axel Yates’ right-hand person. Whether or not Axel was in the company, Danielle handled all matters big and small. If anyone understood Axel Yates best, it was probably Danielle Carter.

Danielle Carter looked up, smiled at the assistant, and offered him a cup of coffee.

"I don’t drink coffee." The assistant was more anxious than anyone, considering his boss had other intentions. If Axel Yates really intended to deal with Anson Linton, it wouldn’t be easy to manage. He also had to consider his future.

But Danielle continued smiling, "The President only wanted a chat, no need to panic. Or does Director Linton have some ulterior motives?" She gave the assistant a pointed look.

This glance sent chills down the assistant’s spine, feeling uneasy. He wondered when Danielle had become so sharp, her gaze so piercing that it made him feel exposed. Danielle Carter had taken on Sienna Quinn’s aura.

The assistant shook his head vigorously, "How could Director Linton have ulterior motives? What you’re saying is irresponsible."

The assistant, initially flushed with anger, suddenly paused, face pale, slowly speaking, "Could it be the president misunderstood Director Linton somehow?"

Danielle Carter looked at the assistant’s trembling demeanor and chuckled coldly, "The president wouldn’t suspect anyone without reason, unless that person was doing something improper."

The more ambiguous Danielle’s words were, the more fearful the assistant felt.

Meanwhile, inside the office, the two were facing off against each other.

Anson Linton sat on the sofa, legs crossed, eyes full of ridicule as he assessed Axel Yates.

"President Yates, you called me over, what for? You know I’m quite busy."

Axel Yates turned his head slowly, smiling at Anson Linton, an icy shade in his eyes: "I know you’re busy. If you weren’t, I wouldn’t have looked for you. Right now, Director Linton, you have many things to handle, dining with board members, managing relationships. It’s not an easy task."
